Cyberpower should be ashamed of themselves for selling a Gen 1 Ryzen system with a single stick of RAM - that's probably a 20% performance hit. But nooooooo, they had to spend the extra $3 a dual-channel kit of the same capacity would cost on . . . an LED strip.

With that little of space left causes problems because Windows wants to have some space set aside as virtual RAM. This is more evident with the single stick of (I think) 8GB or 16GB. Which is honestly just not enough to play a lot of newer games. 32GB is always my recommended size.
@Farhan-ec7dx

@frommatorav1
@frommatorav1 3 месяца назад
@@Farhan-ec7dx Did you not put in 32GB? It's around $100 or less total for 32GB. $55-$115 for DDR4 and DDR5 Even if the game doesn't need all 32GB, if your ram usage is near 16GB or slightly over, when that's your total system ram, you'll get stuttering and computer will be less responsive
@olandersnake
@olandersnake 3 месяца назад
@Farhan-ec7dx it's not games that recommend it. It's the usage of having the games that use 8-10GB, and then Windows itself, your graphics card software, your peripherals controller software, motherboard software, steam/epic games/blizzard software, Discord, and quite a few of the competitive games have launcher software as well. So many gaming computers that I service will have 5-8GB used just turning them on and logging into Windows. Then you boot up a game, and POW you are using up your RAM. Then you get to enjoy random stuttering due to you C: being told to be used as virtual RAM, which even the fastest SSDs are not quick enough to be RAM. Might as well "download more ram." You can probably get by with 16GB, but to have some decent coverage, 32GB is the best option.

I whole heartedly agree with Greg, I've built every computer I've ever owned, and the single biggest "quality of life" upgrade was the SSD. Every time you install Windows, install programs/games, move large files, open programs/games, back-up files, etc.,etc. the speed boost not to mention the superior boot times, it's lovely and will absolutely make an old computer "feel" new better than any other upgrade. It pays for itself constantly!

@caphowdy666
@caphowdy666 3 месяца назад
My PC is probably 8 years old now, and last year I decided to make a few upgrades to extend it's life. The cooler was done out of necessity as the CPU was really maxing out temp wise when it was under heavy load. Once that was done I decided it was time to bite the bullet and replace my HDD. My MB does not have any M.2 slots so the only option is a 2.4" SSD. I bought a Crucial one as I have always had good experiences with their products (my PC ram is Crucial and my M.2 expansion in my PS5 is as well). It comes with software to clone my HDD onto the SSD (well it came with a link to download it). The process was incredibly easy with only one piece of software needing a licence update (Photoshop). The speed difference between my HDD and the SSD is crazy. The boot up process was getting longer and longer with the HDD. Even when you got into Windows, it still took forever before you can open things like internet browsers. Now everything is almost instantaneous. I kept the 1TB HDD in the system to keep all my music on it, and as I bought a 1TB SSD, everything else can be kept on that. I still have around 500gb free on both drives. I was an SSD sceptic, but no longer.

Wouldn't have surprised me if it wasn't the plastic motherboard mounts that had broken. Seen that happen on some motherboards because they were just made too short and that caused more pressure than necessary being applied by the fan which weakened the tabs over time. Some AM3 boards were really good at that especially.

I can attest to how huge a difference moving from an HDD to an SSD can make. I have ad admittedly very old system (we're talking 2008 Dell hardware) that I was using as a domain controller (please don't hate on me). I only needed it for the DC role, so it didn't need to really do a lot. I didn't really care if it was dog slow, as my domain is only a few computers thick. The story is that old computer was running a moderately newer HDD. I purchased a brand-new custom-built server as a Hyper-V server and was doing to decommission that old relic I was using, but I decided, for grins and giggles, to put in an SSD to see what that would do. Darn it if that didn't put some zip into that old machine! I am running Windows Server 2022 on that thing, and it is cranking along like it's still in its prime. It's running as a backup DC and DNS server on my network. I'm probably going to fully decommission it soon, but I cannot tell you the remarkable difference moving from a platter-based hard drive to a solid-state drive made in that li'l machine's performance.

Wouldn't call this a filler. It's another viewer's rig. Another issue. Another resolution. They can't all be crazy difficult. It's the nature of accepting random, free gigs for folks in the area.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it here but MSI cards usually tend to run no fans while idle in Windows in silent mode. Had the same with a 2070 Msi Armor card!

All cards for probably over a decade now dont start running fans until the card hits something like 60c by default.

The first gen Ryzen CPU's weren't all that stable, AFAIK. A possible bios update should be checked for, in case wanting a future more stable CPU upgrade by the customer.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the RX 580 came with zero fan function. They should be on at idle speed and ramp up under use.

This one definitely has its fans turn off at idle and ramp up under load. Confirmed visually while stress testing.

I used to have a rig just like this one in 2017, when the only way to get a GPU, because of the miners, was to buy a whole system. First thing I did was tear it apart and upgrade it.

the load times on the disc drive i belive it was due to how full it was. i had one disc drive full and it took like 15-20 min to boot up

Possible to get a deep dive on Cleaning, costs $200 here and 3 days. They even bent a fan pin and said it was like that already, i am like but it was the CPU fan.
@frommatorav1
@frommatorav1 3 месяца назад
I think the main problem was the CPU cooler not being secured but the other was the amount of disk space left on the HDD. Only 34.8GB on a 1TB drive. I would bet if 100GB were deleted, it would boot significantly faster, although still slow. Even after Windows finally loads, it will make it run slower with that small a reserve space. If it were SATA or nvme, it might react even worse.

What they might be referring to is a fan hub with a controller, because most fan hubs with controllers have a fan speed button to increase or decrease the speed of the fans. My rudimentary fan hub connected to a fan controller can certainly stop my fans if I press the wrong button on the remote when controlling my ARGB.
@GregSalazar
@GregSalazar 3 месяца назад

If there wasn't one maybe they were just referring to the gpu fans stopping on no load. But I experienced a weird issue back then that was similar to this, when my case is closed all accessories stop working but when it's open they start working again. Turns out my case got bent weird since I never moved it, and the mobo was touching the pc case shorting out the fans and usb ports. But it still worked for awhile afterwards I just kept it bare since closing it stops all accessories weirdly it didn't electrocute me or anything when I touched it.

Hey Greg, From the UK here, I get an occasional problem with my PC, my GFX card (Radeon RX 590) turns off randomly under use (hard to duplicate because there's no guarantee when it will happen). when it happens I have to go Device Manager, Enable -> Disable -> Enable to get it to turn back on. I have checked all connections multiple times, checked for software updates, checked everything is securely mounted etc. I've also taken the issue to computer shop's etc asking for advice but they haven't any idea what the issue is... Sorry I cant be more descriptive but do you have any ideas what may be happening here? I've been watching for a while thinking if only this was available where I live xD Some specs: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor 3.60 GHz Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4 3200mhz 32GB (2x16GB) 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING Motherboard Radeon RX590 8GB OCZ ZS Series 550W

I've got a hard drive that seems to be completely locking my system up. Mind you, it is not my boot drive. Last time I managed to boot all the way into windows it showed that drive pegged at 100%. I was getting disk write errors every attempt I made at updating games in steam. Retarted my computer a load of times trying to get it to boot but it just refused to go to windows with that drive plugged in. When I removed the drive it's like my system came back to life and was all of the sudden snappy again.

The password was likely stored on the HDD. It isn't always saved on volatile BIOS chip.

Got GTX 1060 6GB, i5 6400, 16 DDR4, 700W psu. Every game crashes at some point. Temps all ok, uninstalled and updated driver with DDU and all, tried multiple versions of drivers, still crashes. Used MSI Afterburner to undervolt gpu but still crashes. Tried using different psu/motherboard/ramm with multiple config, but still crashes. Then finally I try underclock the vram speed by -250 and no crash afterwards, game plays normally and smoothly. Does this mean my GPU's vram is dying? I tried underclock the vram from -100 to -250, but only -250 fixed it. The game launched no problem, but at some point from 4-7 min of playing, all games that I played crashes. I did everything I can, then after years of not able to play game I decided to try again and suddenly the idea of underclocking the vram came and that fixed it. Like bruh..
