My doorknob was only turning 45 degrees in one direction, instead of back and forth 90 degrees. The solution is very simple: the spring mechanism of the lock is not engaged. All you need is about 5 minutes and a screwdriver to remove the knob from the door, and something long and thin that can help you grip a tiny wire. (Needlenose pliers, tweezers, or I used hemostats)
