Like folks here are saying, great video! I know nothing about outboards but will be looking at a 7.5 merc soon and this gave me a much better understanding of what I'll be getting into which is awesome! Thanks!
I like this guys approach. Very calm, organized and systematic. Clearly mechanically inclined. Good job! Almost forgot to ask, what oil/gas mixture are you using in this motor?
Im currently working on the same outboard. Having difficulties with getting it to idle. It'll run just fine full throttle. One of the jets are plugged im assuming.
Amazing video. %100 informative. Thank you... Do u have any advice or suggestions to get a stuck cowling off a 1974 Mercury 7.5? The lever isnt working and i really do not want 2 break out the hammer.
Boss man nice job, hey do these motor have an thermostat? Mines don’t throw water out and I don’t have much experience Would appreciate a feedback Thanks
RIGHT ON DUDE! Thanks for the detail. Your video was so helpful. Mine is a Canadian serial #7066459 (1976 I believe) and find it impossible to find any drawings for reference. I have a leak in the lower gear housing and suspect the oil seal (among others) are bad. Any links on this would be appreciated,, cheers.
May not be to experienced but does a good job. EVERY ONE of those 70's and early 80's small mercs has wiring that turned to DUST. If it is not one thing it's 2 others with Mercury's. Then there is the rotten wiring in the CDI box...mortgage the house for that one.
Ciao ho lo stesso motore posso sapere quanti giri hai fatto per la carburazione aria miscela?Il mio fa' un po' di fumo e sporca la candela di nero.Grazie
I got an 80s 7.5hp and the fucking thing will not pump water, I've replaced the impeller housing along with the impeller and still not fucking pumping water, and yes the damn tube is hooked up idk wtf is wrong, I've also blown compressed air thru the motor there's no clogs, what the fucking fuck is happening PLEASE HELP
