Another cool machine added to the collection. In part 2 I'll take it to the abandoned highway to see what it can do. My other channel, Angry Ram- ru-vid.comv... Mrs Marty T. • Time lapse Painting of...
Wise words from the father :-) "Always keep the ~~~~~~ you'll never know when you'll need them." :-) Very true. Also helps to have at least one storage shed. Jim Bell (Australia)
What I've learnt over the years is what truly seperates the DIY men from the boys is the size of the old parts hoard!! Nothing better than finding the perfect spring or accelerator assembly in your spares pile so you can bodge a fix to perfection, without needing to mission around countless shops and be ripped off in the process, bliss!!! 😍😍
The kid in me loved this restoration!!! You've got a very creative and fun-type imagination for the "fun-loving" aspect of your work. Keep on doing awesome work. Peace.
Brilliant project mate! So much fun!! Your Boy is going to love you for that little project in a couple of years! 😅👍😎 Lol He's a very lucky lad having a dad like you mate, one in a million with untold(multiple lifetimes for the average Joe!) of knowledge and skills, know-how/experience, to pass on to him fingers crossed! You're a Top Man! Respect from London England 👍🏴
Brilliant, brought that old kart back to life again. I like the way that you can turn your hands to adapting odds and sods of old parts and repurpose them. Just one comment, I know there are a number of exposed rotating parts, brake disk, clutch etc, however it might be an idear to fabricate some sort of chain guard, just in case.
Way to go i first watched you fit the solar panels for hot water . Now the go cart. You looked like you were having lots of fun on the compulsory rides to make sure it was safe. Just maybe you might need to do a weekly safety ride. Love your work. Keep it up .Andy PERTH AUSTRALIA
There is nothing more satisfying than making something useful out of a pile of scrap. Well done Marty. You are an inspiration to all of us who save stuff. cause it might be useful some day.
One of the things one can't usually find is seats . By the time one needs them they have taken so much wear and tear beyond almost any other parts on tractors, boats, cars, trucks etc, especially for outdoor stuff that it is a miracle to find one usable. Plus, if padded the critters, rats, mice, wasps like to destroy the foam and coverings. Even fiberglass and metal shred and rust.
Best part is being able to do a fix or improvement with what you have lying around. Speaks to creativity, ingenuity and a can do attitude. Well done mate and look forward to seeing your highway video.
@@carryclass6807 Marty’s that good it don’t take him much time , plus fun value and fun for the kids , priceless. He’s smashing life and prob has more time than most of us 👏
This will originally had a 2-stroke engine mounted on the chassis to the right of the seat (looking from the rear). It's drive sprocket would also be to the right. I managed to fit a Honda GX200 to a cadet sized kart using the original mounting position. It does require some fettling to get it to fit as it'll need to be raised and pushed further outboard but it'll be no good for pulling wheelies if that's the intention.
Your kidling is going to love sporting around in that. A friend of mine had one when we were kids. We were drifting fools way before it was cool :-) Nice work dad!
It takes time, when you start off you have no bits and bobs, but gather and gather and soon enough you have the spares to repair anything. Thanks Marty,
Great to see you using good old Kiwi 'Number 8 Wire' mentality, "O" for awesome and its the reason I really enjoy your videos! Thanks and keep them coming.
Love that you gave it a second life, Just a tip I have a similar cart and I found that because they are not designed for rough roads etc. That the large sprocket likes to bottom out on the ground which kills chains and eventually destroys the sprocket. So with mine i made up a little sump type bash plate to protect it. You might want to do the same save you any trouble in future because it sucks having to roll a cart more then 50mtrs lmao
Hello Marty. Carting is great fun. A few of us used to go to a race track and the carts were a serious bit of kit. They had two Engine's and did O to 60 in 4 seconds and being so close to the foor you could shit your self.
Dear Marty T. 👍👌👏 Very well done again and as always (video and work). That's a great little cart and surprisingly strong going with that little engine. Your kids 💚 will love to ride it when they are a bit older. 2) Always great to have a good stash/hoard of parts and materials. I absolutely love recycling, upcycling etc p.p.. That's how it should be done all over the world anyway. As always Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you.
I just love your " can do " attitude Marty , good ol` Kiwi attitude of " never had the parts , so we made `em ourselves " Keep teaching your kiddies the values of hoarding stuff too , it may come in handy one day eh ? , cheers mate .
Absolute quality 👍 none of this: stripping it down, powder coating, repainting, spending thousands……bodge it together mad max style so it works!! Lol…….the British & down under way! 👍
You are lucky to find such treasures Marty, where I live it is considered an exceptional day if you find a bent, rusty nail. Bloody good job restoring the cart.
From past experience, so it doesn't snap, use the seat mounting bracket (the adjustable ones seen at 7:58) to bolt a brace for the extension. Helps with how the kart feels too.
That's the difference between you and us right there. When we put spare bits in a box "because you never know when you might need them" they just lie around in the shed for years getting in the way until we finally throw them away. You turn them into a gokart.
Crankshaft perfect OD for the clutch, carb on right side for the Throttle cable , that engine was destined to go in that frame, looking forward to the abandoned highway rip 👍
LOL, the kart place I used to visit had 5HP engines in their regular karts and 6.5Hp for their performance karts. So you've definitely got a good one there :)
Hey Marty, much love for this great content. Keep this up, and I’m sure you’re inspiring more people than me…much love from the U.S. God bless your and your family
People get upset and call you a hoarder for keeping old junk around - but this is why its worthwhile. You can fix and build stuff without having to buy something.
Here in the states 6.5 horse Is the standard engines in sanctioned dirt track kart racing. Pop out the governor, put on a blueprinted racing carburetor, ditch the restrictive muffler and they'll do 50mph+
great memories. I had one of those has a lad. All we had was gravel roads, the young bum could feel every stone in the road. I had to be only around 8 years old.
Mate this was thoroughly entertaining and I love the ingenuity. First thing I would be doing is getting some treaded tyres so you can blast over the gravel and dirt!!! hahah
You are gonna have a BLAST on the old pavement! Nice job! If that was a rental cart it may have had more brake than it needs due to safety regulations. With less material there(cut disc) now they may heat up faster when heavily used but the bright side is they should cool down faster too.
