914Rubber sells a repop of the plastic/nylon part that breaks. Thanks for showing the difficulty of the clip at the end of that rod, and for showing the wire brush cleanup & re-lube. To answer the others question, I used the PB Blaster Lithium grease spray, but you need to REALLY vigorously shake the can to get the lithium into suspension for proper delivery, work it into the part, let it dry, and work it some more. I decided to do the other door on my 914 using the “cream” style lithium grease from a tube. Messy but better.
So, basically I need to 3D print the plastic part with a stronger material, you are lucky the one I got is missing both door handles and they are around $130 each to replace. Would mechanical lubercate be a good choice for these handles?
