Like i said i have one its an hp pavilion 500 series and with some tuning i replced the psu for a 850w unit a smal factor gtx 1060 6gb and 16gb of ddr3 ram. It has an i7 4770 non k version and it runs erverything i wana play even cyberpunk with a mix of setings to 40fps at 60 but most of the time is on 60 fps. Just finished days gone on it now started death stranding again all maxed out. And my hp have Wi-Fi built in it dvd drive just as i like and i have an 1tb hd and a sata 3 ssd from team elite. And yes has no rgb but i prefer like this when a frend comes to my house and looks at it and say that cant game its an older system bla bla bla and than they taste wolfenstein 2 completly maxed out at 1080p with 150 fps on average they shut up in seconds.

@@conorf8091 That's not the point. The point is that it's very clean underneath the CPU and blowing the dust away after removal could only make things dirty. They sell a bracelet with a wire clip to discharge static, I have it and it's not a bad idea to wear it when working on delicate parts like RAM and motherboards. Honestly I think that the best way to address the problem is wearing antistatic clothes and shoes.
@MaxDad7
@MaxDad7 3 года назад
I have the Compu Cleaner in red and haven't bothered grounding myself. I do what RGHD did in this video as a side hustle and haven't caused any issues. A couple tips though if you plan to do something similar to the video: Unplug the computer and hold down the power button for 10 seconds to discharge the electricity from the computer. Use the blower before unplugging/disconnecting any computer parts. That way you don't get dust in used RAM slots or in the CPU socket for instance. Use your hand or a plastic pen to hold fan blades to keep them from spinning. Not doing so can cause damage to the motor (I have experienced this a couple of times). Be careful when using this to dust off hard drives and CD drives. I have actually stopped using it for those and just wipe them down by hand. You can accidently force dust into places you don't want it to and cause problems. I had a working CD drive that stopped working right after I cleaned it with the Compu Cleaner, but it was fixed by opening and closing the tray. I may not be lucky next time. Lastly, the intake is at the bottom of these cleaners and there's a filter to block big stuff from coming through. Make sure you check it often and don't set it down on places like carpet or loose things until the motor is completely powered down; it helps keep it from getting clogged quickly. Anyways, the duster saves you money in the long run and is useful for many other things as well!

You can use a steamer for cleaning the 'non' electric components like the 'case' after blowing it with the blower. It kills the unwanted germs and and provides a newer look. HP goes with a generic version of Asus motherboards and most of the time they are faulty. I've had to scrap out board when the SATA connectors fail and the plastic SATA sockets come off the board. the other thing I do is to get the specs on the motherboard to verify the amount of ram and maximum CPU size. the pea sized thermal paste is the perfect method, I saw a video of a guy who did the pea technique and he squished a piece of clear acrylic on top of it and you could see the paste spread evenly over the whole surface except for the tiny corners on each side which doesnt really matter

This is a good guide in general for anyone to dust out a pc, especially the cpu heatsink which is a common point of failing due to dust. How many people will not know to clean out their pc if they are experiencing random shutdowns?

Brave man, I’d recommend leaving the cpu in the socket while your cleaning the board, real easy to bend them pins - only done it once but you’ll learn quick :)

The fans failing is mostly loose connections if it isn't burned out. Had an old Optilex 765 that also had a 'fan problem', but turned out it was just the pins that were loose on the connection's inside. Had to be pinched with pliers so they'd get a good grip, works just like brand new.

My friend actually has the same machine which we bought for $35. We upgraded the psu, put a gtx 1050 and an ssd, and has been using it for the last 3 years

I use a paint brush and I bought a near silent 1 gallon Air compressor, works perfect. On some systems I'm picked up and repaired, I have taken the PSU apart to clean it, I actually did one recently where the PSU a 750 watt Seasonic PSU the fan controller died in it no matter the fan plugged into it, it wouldn't power it, I had to replace the fan and run the fan wire out the back of it and plugged it into a molex connector, it would overheat with a Vega 64 and a Ryzen 7 5700G. No sense in tossing it if it still works but needs a fan replaced. Of course I wouldn't be touching things inside of it.

This was a great, practical video - hopefully folks can get inspired to do more with older hardware. Please do more of these, and maybe, add your thoughts of the best thing to upgrade for each particular system (with before and after tests).

@RandomGaminginHD Some advice on GPU Thermal Paste application: Tldr: Spread the paste thinly and evenly on the bare die. (With a spudger or a cut piece from an old credit card or something like that) Why you might ask? Well, for crappy cards like these it wont matter 99% of the time. But let me tell you I've owned a 7970 Lighning BE in the past. Applying a pea sized amount on the bare die would spread out evenly on the die, in a circular pattern. Leaving out just tiny spaces in the corners (really only like 1mm of space): I deemed the card faulty because whenever I furmarked the thing, it would give me massive artifacts once it warmed up. I was about to give up but then I reapplied the thermal paste, spreading it out evenly to cover the full die. And boom, it worked like a charm (no Furmark artifacts anymore) - even though reported temps were the same between the two methods. Leaving me to believe that this really power-hungry card would actually overheat PARTS of the die (not where the temp sensors were positioned necessarily), leading to transistor failure/partial overheat. So from this day on, whenever I am to apply thermal paste on a bare die, I thoroughly make sure to get full coverage of the die. With IHSes you don't need to be so peculiar. Keep rocking ✌️

I'm a little late to this one, but a stiff 3-4" paintbrush is great for stubborn dust. An old toothbrush is also helpful for crevices
