Fixing damaged game boxes

In this video I repair a big box game box which was crushed and bent.
Having obtained a copy of Cannon Fodder for the Amiga from a well known auction site, at a good price, I set about attempting to repair the box by using water and a steam iron.

The big difference between how you're doing it and what Neil did is that he's using the heat in the metal to dry the box while it's being held in place. You're adjusting the box while it's malleable and then letting it dry. Both seem to have great results. I've tried Neil's method and it worked for me. I don't mind a damaged box, but for me to be satisfied with it I need to have done what I can to fix it up - and that means fixing the bashes and wonky sides!

Thanks for the comment Velociraptor, much appreciated. The reason I do it this way is that I lack all the bits Neil uses. 🤣 I’m just doing this on a budget with stuff I have, and it does work after some gentle manipulation. It’s all good fun. 😎

Hi! I've buy a game in 2nd hand and during the shipping the cover box suffer a sereval smash and 3 big wrinkles. It's a box from a FFG (imperial assault). The iron will solve the problem in my case? How hot the iron should be? Thank you in advanced.

Start at a low temperature and build the heat up slowly. Check the box each time you run the iron over it to make sure the heat is not damaging the box. Make sure you iron onto a cloth covering the cardboard where possible, again to make sure you don’t damage the cardboard with the heat of the iron.
