I’m so glad I found your channel. I got laid off during the pandemic from my job as a grant writer and decided that I wanted to take the plunge and start a bath and body product business. I’ve been making my own products for several years so I’ve got the product part pretty locked in - what I needed to learn more about was the business aspect. Your channel has given me the confidence that I can do this and what to expect. I’m currently planning to renovate our unused 24’ travel trailer into my soaping studio - I can hardly wait to have it done so I can start my business after the new year. Thank you so much for being such amazingly generous and inspirational people! Go Hawks!

That's amazing to hear! I wish you luck on this. The business part is very intimidating and is the main reason why so many quit. But as long as you're going into it with an open mind, being comfortable with slow growth and poor sales in the first year or so, there are SO MANY rewards if you stick with it. GOOOO HAWKS!

When you use new container of CA or BS to make bath bombs I suggest to open your bags and let them sit in the room you have a humidifier on to dry out or adjust to the humidity. I found out that sometimes my new ingredients are just too wet or too dry and that effects my formula a lot. I am.in Chicago, our summers are just super humid and that method helped a lot. I have a room designated only for BB making and drying. That is where I store all my ingredients.

I have a question I made a batch of bath bombs and they came out wonderfully I used to use Epsom salt in mine but I made some with your recipe of though I did switch out sweet almond oil for the hemp seed oil on they molded together they unmoulded really really well it is now 4 days later though and they're still very kind of flaky powdery they are hard but like the Saturn ring on and to touch them they're still very powdery any suggestions on hardening them up a little bit more?

Hi Jerika, Im glad you found a solution for your bath bombs cracking! Please keep us updated about it in the next videos to see how it evolves ;) For me, I manage to make some that didnt crack by letting it dry for 3 days. My issue was they were breaking when i unmolded them or when i wrapped them. I will definitely try your tips this winter ;)

I have never tried to do bath bombs, but her videos have inspired me that maybe i could just do some for fun and have some color/creative outlet in my life. Im from Puerto Rico and the high humidity is something I am worried about and concerned that I might feel like a failure if it doesn’t work out. But what she said about you just keeping forward and not giving up gave me hope. Thanks for your tip. I will keep it in mind just in case I’m able to do a batch in this tropical climate.

@@christina413 Just try ;) If you are not selling them, the worse that can happen is that you end with broken chunks to put in your bath, but they will smell as good and have the nice touch of colors etc. PLUS it is very fun to do 🤗👍And , if it works, you will be very happy and proud of yourself. As a begginer, keep in mind it can be 3 or 4 times longer than usual because you are not use to make them (it happen to me). I would suggest you to prepare everything in advance so when you mix its not long before you mold them 😉

I have a question that I've been having a lot of trouble with. What do you do with bathbombs that arent perfect, but also aren't defective enough to use yourself/give away? For example, I have some that look perfect, great texture and look but may have a small crack off to the side, or the smallest amount of lopsided for example? I'm sure no one else would notice but I am also a perfectionist so I don't know what to do? Problem is we can't make perfect ones everytime.
@JerikaZimmerman
@JerikaZimmerman 3 года назад
I sell them. Honestly, your customer knows its handmade by you, so they won't worry about it. As a fellow perfectionist, I can advise that letting go of the things that bother us is one of the best things you can do in business. You wear so many hats, your energy is best spent elsewhere.

Another great video Jerika! Love listening to your vlogs and watching you make bath bombs. I know you have to be extremely busy but you always so so relaxed and calm. I wanted to share a tip for people who can't afford a Bath Bomb Press when first getting started. I got this tip from Ellen on Ellen Ruth Soaps channel. She was making bath bombs and she shared a link for the awesome molds she used. Its an Etsy store called CadaMolds. They have a great selection and many of them come in different sizes. Prices are fantastic. You could even use them to make shampoo bars, depending on the recipe and process. They do have an individual shampoo bar mold and a multi bar mold, as well as a gazillion different bath bomb molds. I just ordered 6 at the beginning of December and they custom make these so they are about 3 to 4 weeks for delivery. I can't wait to get mine. I will let you know how they perform and you can pass it on to all your subscribers. I should hopefully get them by Jan 11 so it will be a little bit before I can give you a review. Had to give a huge shout out to Ellen Ruth for sharing the link. She made it look so easy when she made them. Hopefully mine will be that easy. Lol

Hi I have a question about making your orders. I am just starting out and I am feeling very overwhelmed with how to go about making my products to sell. How do you do it? Make lots and sell them when orders come in, or make them as you get the orders? I am worried about making loads and getting them to harden, then having them sitting there for weeks before I get an order. How did you go about this starting up? Thank you xx
@JerikaZimmerman
@JerikaZimmerman 3 года назад
I make everything small batch, so having product sit is okay with me, as I never store it for longer than a couple months. Now that I have consistent sales, I can more easily predict how much I will need on hand. In the beginning this is MUCH harder to predict. I would recommend starting with a solid line of scents that are known to sell well (lavender, citrus, floral, fruity). Create a core line of products and make very few. I started with loaves that only made 8 bars. Document the process on Instagram and Facebook (don't sell, just educate). Find an in-person market to move and sell the product. You'll find once you get your foot in the door with an in-person market, you'll get a much better sense of what sells and will also be able to move product faster.

Love love love all your tips and all your support in supporting us! It really is amazing what you you 🙏. Quick question. I make simple moisturizing cbd bath bombs. 1cup baking Powder 1/2 cup corn starch 1/2 Epsom salts 3 tbls of cream tartar 1tbls of clay (I.e pink clay, kaolin clay, bentonite) 2 tbls coconut oil 1/2 tbls cbd oil ( sometimes I substitute for hempseed) 3/4 tbls of water 3tsp of essential oils And witch hazel to spritz Sometimes these bath bombs turn out way to soft and crumble. Aside from possible humidity what could be the culprit? Should I be using more oil? I live in Kelowna BC. So it’s very dry here. I did finally buy a humidifier. But they where working well for me up until recently. People really love these silky and super moisturizing bombs. But they are at serious risk of crumbling sometimes. What can I do to help harden them up yet keep them very natural??? Would love any insight 🙏🙏😊😊
@JerikaZimmerman
@JerikaZimmerman 3 года назад
Hmm, it’s hard diagnosing bath bomb recipes that are different from mine. But the first thing I would suggest is to covert your measurements to grams to make them more precise. You’ll be surprised what a difference few grams makes for some ingredients. This way, you can adjust accordingly and know exactly what’s working and what’s not. I’ve heard water makes for a very hard bath bomb and I find that the case with mine. Try wetting your baking soda first with a tiny amount of water (10 grams). This helps with smoother bath bombs.
