Great video. I was suprised by the injector seals, not had that before and i have plenty of experience with that engine. Any more problems with the engine consider the pd130 engine swap. £300 for a used one with lower mileage than you have now and you definitely have the mechanical ability to do it. Keep going with the camper conversion, ive turned similar t5s into £15000 campers.

What a great turn round from a mobile health, hazard to almost finished article. I’d suggest you try. G101 for the seats (from autosmart) and dilute, according to severity as it pretty much seems to shift everything, both external and internal vehicles.

Epic job cleaning that up, I've found spraying traffic film remover on everything interior in a van then using a 20 quid second hand steam cleaner cleans them well

The quick connect boost hoses have these green seals that love to leak, especially if people have been taking hoses on and off. I’ve had so many issues with them. They are cheap to replace on eBay so worth going through them all. You might also be lucky and have oil spray patterns from the leak that’ll give its location away easily.

The loose rubber part spinning on the vacuum pump has seperated from the booster hose, you can pull it off and reinsert into the vacuum pipe :)

Well done for everything done so far. In my humble opinion, it's a great candidate for a work-van but not a camper or passenger. Just economically not worth it to bring it back to the level that would look acceptable on a camper. But it will be a great content and for sure we will all enjoy watching it. Couple of things to note: The end muffler has 2 skins. You can peel the first one and there is another one underneath that will be in a better condition. The rusty bearing that you found in the glovebox is from the timing kit. I suggest to check the timing change just in case it hasn't been done or we will get a few more episodes on how to rebuild a T5 head :-)) Good luck!

Try some elbow grease degreaser out the pound shop on your seat. The stuff marvellous for cleaning anything inside or outside the van. Best stuff ever for cleaning wheels and tyres 😎👍

I used a small spray of panel wipe when I had an oil stain on light grey fabric seat, helped break down the oil then I used some fabric cleaner, scrubbed and followed up with a wet vac immediately after, had to repeat it a couple of times but got the stain out.

In desperation sometimes when I was working in car sales we would clean seats and door cards with truck wash ( traffic film remover) just dilute it down depending on the severity of the stain spray on agitate with a stiff brush and soak up and wring out with a chamois, once had to do a whole Galaxy interior like this !

Youv'e done well getting it for £500 as the prices for these are absolutely extortionate!! Going to be a great build

If there was a significant boost leak that engine will go into limp mode, so its unlikely to be anything serious. The bayonet type connections between the hoses do wear over time. you can buy replacement seals (green O ring), but in my experience the failure that tends to occur is the little metal bayonet ears wearing away, rather than the O ring having failed.

Looking good, Harry. Nice job on the interior clean, too. Did the smells go away? If not it might be a case (in spring weather) of taking seats and flooring out and cleaning behind/pressure washing. For the oil stains in the seats - make sure they are dry first, won’t work if still damp - then use brake cleaner on them. Soak and mop up with soft cloth a few times then vac it. Maybe finish off with some laundry detergent mixed in a spray bottle. 👍🏻

Great video and Work! i would buy a set of floor mats, put power windows on it(100-200 pound job) and window switches and give it fresh new wiper blades. P.S The seats need a deep clean, wet vac and steam clean. Great little T5!

Elbow grease degreaser from b and m for the seat stains. Or i imagine any degreaser to break it down if its oil. Between that and isopropyl alcohol i removed dry pen ink from my t5 seats.

More more more :) Lovin the van. I’ll bet my life savings, at least 1 cup holder is broke :) let me know. I have a cheap fix 🤙

Great job with the engine. I wouldn't do the body work just yet as it's too cold unless you've got somewhere warm to paint it. As for the seats you could try some Swarfega, the stuff you clean oil off your hands with , might do it?

What about the cab filter when you were at the fan tyreshine is great on the cab mat keep up the good work

Those are not the injector seals you are looking for. The ones that would put diesel in the oil are internal inside the injector. Those seals could only possibly cause a lean condition but it's actually the brass/copper washers that are do in the sealing so the o ring are probably mostly suspesion.

Smoke test the inlet side. The tester has a blow up bladder that you put in the inlet hose. Once you fill the inlet system with smoke, you will see if there are any leaks 😊

Wouldn't bother with getting rid of that stain, get some decent tailor made covers it will change the interior drastically. Anyway, your videos are just addictive to watch, waiting for more and left the sub of course. Take care pal

Unsure whether it would translate to your seat issue, but I've previously used high alcohol content hand santiser to remove an ink stain from clothing and after a few rounds, the stain was completely gone. Might be worth a shot!

I thought about it with my T4 but most of my panels are in good nik so didnt but before i bought this one i was looking at one that was a bit rough outside and was just going to roller it haha

Brake cleaner can be good for upholstry to some times. USed to use it fro removing windscreen sealant from a pillars and head lining.

Pour baking soda on the stain leave it for half an hour and vacuum it up. For stubborn stains, rub fairy liquid into the stain pour on more baking soda leave 15 minutes and lift out with a wet upholstery cleaning machine. I just sneak the rug doctor out of the house when she isnt looking.

Swafega wipe for your seat stain. Boost leak, grab some brake cleaner and spray onto the various boost hose joints one at a time and listen for a change in engine speed as the brake cleaner delivers a temporary seal to a leak. Include the intercooler in your travels as they are a known weakness after higher mileages / ages.

Brake & clutch cleaner sprayed on a cloth & rubber gently should clean it off.

WD40 to remove oil from the seat 🙂👍

Tip: I know on the T4's you could move the whole front end of the van forward by about 25cm just by removing 4 easy to get to bolts, it was called "putting into service position" if I remember right, it gave you A LOT more space/room when you were working on the engine. Not sure if you can do that on the T5's but worth Googling if you can

Great videos, keep it up. Would be really useful if you didn’t Timelapse all the detailed processes like how you removed the injectors and replaced the seals - at least on one of them.

To clean oil off your seat just spray brake cleaner on it and scrub with a brush and wipe it with a micro fibre cloth just keep repeating until clean after that just use a carpet cleaner to tidy up the rest .

Nice one, have you seen the vids with people using graffiti paint to do the resprays?some nice satin colours. patience good detergent and blot not scrub with a terry type absorbent cloth for your seats, if that fails , try a wet vac, or just take the covers off and throw them in a washing machine.

Take that bench seat out and pressure wash it🎉

That plastic temp sensor pipe is a very common problem. I replaced mine after 100K with a new sensor and a new thermostat whilst the system was drained. The loom is a common failure as well. It gets brittle and need to be handled carefully😃😃😎😎

Hope you changed the cabin air filter when you changed the blower motor!

Be nice to get updates on volvo and vauxhall 220 and is the vw finished

smoke test on the intake/boost system, block off one end and pressurise it with smoke to find the leaks. you can get proper smoke detectors but i have seen vapes used which makes sense lol Check vacuum lines etc too. You could go back to basics and spray brake cleaner on joints to see if the engine note changes or water and fairy liquid.

YOu need to crank at full throttle to purge the fuel system after working on it.

Maybe swap out the barn doors for tailgate, better as a shelter when camping, price up for a sliding door to swap out depending on how bad the damage is on it, the smell in there is more than likely under the rubber cab mat, might be worth taking the seats out for a proper wet vac, not a big job to get the rubber out to clean underneath, you can add a bit of sound deadening to lose the biscuit tin rattles

Good grief mate - whoever owned this before was a total pig - look at the inside of this great car. I own a 2022 Transporter and I keep it in good nick all the time - its super clean all the time. They are great vehicles. Good job on the clean and the fault repairs.

Hi the oil stain on the twin seat try a dish washer tab worked for me.

Definitely needs cambelt.and I would go through every swap and gasket....check and replace.plus double check all boots and connections

The fact that the part number was on the original tandem pump in paint pen makes me think it’s been done before you bought it with a used one from a breaker.

Use an extracter vacuum

If it has a cast iron exhaus manifold with a variable vane turbo I would look for cracks in in the turbo housing is pretty common on these does it have any codes for manifold pressure or something like that?

Sounds a bit silly, but have you tried a paste of either bicarb or washing powder left to sort of soak into the fabric? Maybe some vanish powder?

What did you use to clean the dash and doors that you agitated with a brush ?

What was the stuff your cleaned up the interior with - did a fantastic job?

Brake cleaner and some clean rags on that seat if it is oil..
