I bought my girlfriend this wrecked Audi RS5 B8 4.2 V8 from auction with intentions to fix it. Normally when buying a car from the salvage auction they tend to be delivered in alot worse condition than the photos make out, but this Audi RS5 didnt seem to be too bad. We received 2 cars and full service history & the damage seem to be minor for a category S car. But today i begin the full repairs in hope to get it back on the road.

@@timothyclapham936 no it was not lol, that gap was way too big on top and bottom, at least he was able to fill it in, the paint will reveal any defects, that is if a pro at a shop doesnt take over and finish it properly

With Audi suspension arms you need to make sure your pre load the suspension before torquing anything up tight, otherwise the bushings tear really quickly.

Great video as always! The work your doing is bang on, not many people can argue as I couldn't imagine them doing it their self. I live 2 seconds from mfn so I've been going since I was a child about 18 years ago. It's always been a brilliant place to go on a Sunday night and used to alws take my cars there. Unfortunately they have always sent it down the straight which it is a bit of fun. But standard of driving has dropped over the last few years and unfortunately this isn't the first accident that's happened along that strip from folk showing off. Hopefully it doesn't put you off going to the place and get to see you there sometime. Keep up the good work. 👌

one of the best videos you have made like how you talked through what you was doing step by step like the repair on back bumper little tip for you if you do a similar job plastic welder fantastic but left some gaps so you fiber glassed it yes ok but heres the tip cut a strip of bumper about the length of a welding rod and use it with soldering iron and plastic weld the gaps saves having to fiber glass process keep it up MAT

Matt, after you've used the fillers , go over with Holts Knifing stopper which is a very smooth and easy to use finish . You just wipe it over and it self sets to get rid of all rubbing scratches etc

Instead of black electrical tape you have to start using proper certoplast for that wiring. Electrical tape is really not meant to last in and around engine components and exposed to the elements. Check out certoplast Mat, please for the love of doing it semi-properly atleast. 1 love

Looking at the wing rail damage the lower section could have been straightened out after the top section was removed. As I've welded Audi ali bodyshells, trying to plug weld ali is a real challenge, knowing the correct filler wire is also an issue, joints can look welded, but will crack if not done correctly.. Good content though Mat, I like your give it a go attitude.👍👍

Hi Matt. I believe that I've heard that the bolt is in that way to avoid the threads damaging the boot of the inner track rod. Check that the bolt is not touching it 🤞😉

Totally agree with the bolt on the lower control arm 4:12 !! I have an a4 b8 and came across the exact same problem when I replaced them and ended flipping the bolt to the other side just like Mat did 😂. Sometimes engineers do weird choices 🤷

Yes, suspension needs preloading & the torqe for the hub which loads the bearing is somthing like 200 nm plus 180 degrees. You might need a scaffold pole for that. Also all arm bolts are stretch so one time use.

Matt, Do an infotainment screen update. Aftermarket screen sits in place, in front of outdated screen. Aftermarket screen will allow for all new operations, plus the look updates the car by a full generation.

Check that lower rearward curved arm you put in!! It is hard to tell in the video but to me it looks you replaced the original that had a 75mm oil filled bushing with an older model one with the smaller bushing. Physically the arm will fit but it wont match the other side and will likely have some interesting driving characteristics. All of those bushings MUST be left loose and tightened only when the car is settled at ride height.
