I need to get me a box of washers! I usually harvest them from broken-beyond-repair PCs, and there's not much variety to choose from when you do that. Thanks for the tip!

Excellent video and ingenious solution! I have an old Toshiba laptop with a few broken plastic stand offs, preventing securing the bottom cover as well. The bottom cover was also designed to assist holding the heat sink onto the CPU, with the loose bottom cover, the laptop shuts down just as it begins to boot the OS because the CPU overheats very fast. I haven't found any reliable source for a replacement bottom case cover; the local authorized Repair Center won't bother making the effort to find the spare part and instead tried to sell me one of their refurbished laptops that cost much more than the bottom case cover is expected to cost, based on eBay prices for similar sized different models! The old laptop has been overseas three times and interstate several times, and I've upgraded it with faster and higher capacity HDDs and a Blu Ray drive; there's no way I'd ever discard it because it would still work very well and is fast enough for me. One idea I have for ameliorating the metal washer marking the plastic case, may be to place a thin rubber washer between the case and the metal washer.
