In my quest to perfect my form, an unintended, yet very welcomed, outcome was throwing nose down much more consistently. In this video I discuss the possible reasons why.

Great analogy with the penny flick! Just hold on and keep that wrist bent as long as you can.

Thanks for your time in putting this together...you did a great job explaining some things I think even more well-known instructors struggle to explain.

Power disc golf member here. I don't recall Paul mentioning the disc lining up with your arm but rather with the crease where your thumb meets your palm
@discsmd
@discsmd 10 месяцев назад
So his instruction in that video is place the disc in the crease and then make sure the disc goes directly up the arm. It's at 2:00 in the 2 Back Hand Throw Grip video. The part that always stuck in my head was the "make sure the disc goes directly up the arm" part..lol

Got a tech disc, told me tons of useful stuff. Nose angle and spin are my two biggest things to tackle this winter. I'll try some of this out and see what works.

Great video! Just to add a little bit more explanation to your reason #3 (keeping your wrist from imparting nose-up)... The reason that a little bit of wrist supination (aka "turning the key") helps keep the nose down is in part because the disc is released somewhere between 10-11 o'clock for righties / 1-2 o'clock for lefties (as OT Josh mentions in many videos). When people demonstrate what it looks like to "pour the coffee" they typically hold the disc out at 12 o'clock and point their wrist down, but 12 o'clock is not where we release the disc! "Pouring the coffee" would only be the lone way to get the nose down *IF* the disc was released at 12 o'clock, whereas if we released at 9 o'clock (3 o'clock for lefties), "pouring the coffee" would only impart more hyzer and therefore "turning the key" would be the only way to get the nose down. But since the disc is released somewhere BETWEEN those two extremes, a little bit of both methods (pouring the coffee and turning the key) is needed. I hope that resonates with someone!

I was going to make this point but you said it well. I tried everything literally everything to get nose down with no success. Then I saw Josh talking about 10o clock release vs 2 o'clock release. This was my issue! If you release everything late it's IMPOSSIBLE to get the nose down.

I love Coyote Hills. Although none of those course were Coyote Hills...lol. They were Muddy Run, Pinhook out near Idlewild, and Millbrook at Churchville.

Hello, thanks for the video. I'm pretty happy with the hight of my releases, never thought about nose angle, I seem to be controling that with my arm angle. Is that the same thing?
@discsmd
@discsmd 10 месяцев назад
It's possible although unorthodox. But if you are consistently throwing at a good height.i wouldn't change anything...lol
