In this video, we tackle a P06DD diagnostic trouble code in a 2016 Jeep Wrangler with a 3.6L Pentastar engine. This code signifies an issue with the oil pressure being stuck on low.
The Jeep Wrangler in question is equipped with a dual-stage oil pump, which should increase the oil pressure to between 65 and 80 pounds once the RPM hits above 3500. This increased pressure ensures proper lubrication for the vehicle's engine. However, in our case, the oil pressure is not increasing as it should at higher RPMs, indicating a problem that could potentially lead to severe engine damage if not addressed.
Follow along as our expert technicians diagnose and rectify the problem, providing guidance on how you can troubleshoot and resolve a P06DD code in your vehicle.
Remember, regular maintenance and prompt attention to engine codes are key to keeping your vehicle running smoothly and safely.

My Truck just hit 170K with the 3.6 and it is doing this. I will replace the fuel filter first and then go your route after trying that. Thanks for sharing and showing this content. Awesome!

I am having an issue where the oil pressure is staying on high and not dropping to the low mode even when it’s up to temp. I’m not getting any codes and I just recently replaced the oil cooler.

Thanks, Urban Auto. Is it possible to remove the oil pump by only removing the lower oil pan? Thx
@UrbanAutomotive01
@UrbanAutomotive01 8 месяцев назад
While removing the lower oil Pan is a necessary step, it's usually just the beginning. this allows for the drainage of oil and initial access to the internal lower engine area.You would typically need to remove the timing chain and front engine cover to access the oil pump. This is a more involved process that requires careful alignment of timing marks upon reassembling to avoid engine timing issues. Depending on the specific design and the approach for the repair other components such as the harmonic balancer, various police, and possibly the front part of the exhaust system might need to be removed or disconnected.

Did yall check the oil pressure while idling or driving, if so, was it low? I have a P06DE the opposite condition & im running 85-90psi on a cold start & 100psi at operating temp. Thanks

@timskidmore6782 6 месяцев назад
I’m having a similar issue, cold star is about the same and operating temp drops back down to normal psi at idle but increases up to 100 given my throttle position.

I have an alfa romeo and recently got a p06dd code. My engine shakes for a little then turns off and goes into limp mode. The dealer suggests a new oil pump but infers that an oil change can help it get back running. Should i try the oil change?

Diagnostic Steps: Check Oil Level and Quality: Ensure the oil level is correct and the oil is clean and of the right viscosity. Inspect the Oil Pressure Solenoid/Valve: Check for any signs of damage or malfunction. This may require testing its operation with a scan tool that can command it on and off. Oil Pressure Test: Conduct a manual oil pressure test with a mechanical gauge to verify actual oil pressure against factory specifications for idle and operating RPMs. Electrical Circuit Check: Inspect the wiring and connectors for the oil pressure sensor and solenoid for any signs of damage or loose connections. Sensor and Solenoid Testing: Consider testing or replacing the oil pressure sensor and the oil pressure control solenoid, especially if they show signs of malfunction or if the wiring and mechanical tests return normal. Thanks for watching

my oil pressure drops to about 13-16 psi at idle. is this indicating a failing oil pump?
@UrbanAutomotive01
@UrbanAutomotive01 8 месяцев назад
A drop in oil pressure at idle to 13 - 16PSI warrants invexcavation but it's not an immediate indication of a failing oil pump. Consider all potential causes and conduct a thorough diagnosis to pinpoint the issue. Regular maintenance, including timely oil and filter changes, is crucial and preventing these types of issues. Diagnostic steps to consider. Check oil level and quality ensure the oil level is correct and the oil is clean and of the right viscosity. replace oil filter. if it hasn't been changed recently, replace the oil filter. Mechanical oil pressure test. Conduct a test with a mechanical oil pressure gauge to get an accurate reading inspect for leaks. check for any signs of oil leaks around the engine professional diagnosis. If the issue persists it's advisable to have a professional mechanic contact a thorough diagnosis. They can check the oil pump, pressure relief valve, engine bearings, and other components. Wish you luck and thanks for watching 👀 🙏 😊

I’m getting a po6da code. Car runs fine and oil pressure seems fine. Around 25-30 at idle and goes up to about 80-85 psi while accelerating. I’m wondering if it could be a bad solenoid. Any suggestions? 2019 Chrysler 300s with pentastar 3.6

I got a p06DE code. It idles about 12 psi but has great oil pressure above idle. What would you say it is?
@UrbanAutomotive01
@UrbanAutomotive01 7 месяцев назад
The P06DE code on a 2016 Jeep Wrangler with a 3.6L engine indicates an issue with the "Engine Oil Pressure Control Circuit Stuck On." This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) suggests that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has detected a problem with the engine's oil pressure control circuit, which is responsible for regulating the oil pressure through the operation of the oil pressure solenoid or valve. This is part of the system that controls variable oil pressure to optimize engine performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions. Given the symptoms you've described-about 12 psi oil pressure at idle but normal pressure above idle-here are a few potential causes and considerations: 1. Faulty Oil Pressure Solenoid/Valve - The oil pressure control solenoid or valve could be malfunctioning, stuck in the "on" position, which might not affect higher RPMs as much but can cause low pressure at idle. 2. Oil Viscosity - Incorrect oil viscosity can cause improper oil pressure readings. Ensure that the oil used matches Jeep's specifications for your climate and operating conditions. 3. Oil Pump Issue - While less likely given normal pressure at higher RPMs, issues with the oil pump can also lead to varying oil pressure readings. A partially blocked oil pickup or worn pump components could be a factor. 4. Oil Pressure Sensor or Circuit Problems - A faulty oil pressure sensor or issues within the wiring circuit (like shorts or opens) can trigger this code without there being an actual mechanical problem with oil pressure. 5. Engine Sludge or Blockage - Accumulation of sludge in the engine or blockages in oil passages can affect oil pressure, particularly at lower speeds or idle. Diagnostic Steps: 1. Check Oil Level and Quality: Ensure the oil level is correct and the oil is clean and of the right viscosity. 2. Inspect the Oil Pressure Solenoid/Valve: Check for any signs of damage or malfunction. This may require testing its operation with a scan tool that can command it on and off. 3. Oil Pressure Test: Conduct a manual oil pressure test with a mechanical gauge to verify actual oil pressure against factory specifications for idle and operating RPMs. 4. Electrical Circuit Check: Inspect the wiring and connectors for the oil pressure sensor and solenoid for any signs of damage or loose connections. 5. Sensor and Solenoid Testing: Consider testing or replacing the oil pressure sensor and the oil pressure control solenoid, especially if they show signs of malfunction or if the wiring and mechanical tests return normal. Recommendation: Given the complexity of diagnosing the P06DE code and the potential for it to be caused by a variety of issues, it's advisable to have a professional mechanic or a dealership with experience in Jeep vehicles perform a thorough diagnostic. They can pinpoint the exact cause of the low oil pressure reading at idle and the P06DE code, ensuring the correct repairs are made to restore your Wrangler's performance and reliability. Thanks for watching ;)

Hi i have 2014 sahara 4 dr and i have this code p06dd i replace the solenoid on oil pump And still give me the code. But its weird that sometimes the code is gone for 3 days and it will come back again. What do you think is the problem? Is it the oil pressure sensor switch?
