If you can get serious heat on a bolt it can sometimes come off with your grips

Get yourself a set of Irwin bolt extractors (Amazon or any good tool store), absolute god send for any chewed up bolt because once they bite they do not slip. I have no connection to Irwin but consider them the best bit of kit in my tool box and have used them for years.

Getting things in place to work on cars again, will definitely take a look!

I just got one,I have a grinding noise in rearend. Axles, ujoints, and center bearing all look good. I'm not looking forward spending this much already.

Could be as simple as a wheel bearing, make sure to go check all the 'obvious' problems before chucking a bunch of money on it. Definitely head to the Zroadster. Org forum and have a see if anyone can shed any light on the issue. Whatever it is, it's worthwhile to get the car running nicely!

You need a breaker bar my friend! More leverage is always better than breaking a tool or hurting yourself.

One is definitely needed! Will be adding that to the Christmas list 😂

Nice job! I just got a great deal on one of these. Same color, with some body damage. I bought all of the replacement panels, including a front and rear quarter panels and door for under $500

Panels on these are so easy and there's still decent ones around! As long as the chassis is good enjoy working on it!

I just stand on the end of the ratchet. "use the force" (of gravity) - quick bounce, crack, its loose.

Good job on the sills!!! I need to do this on mine. How long does it take to take the outersill off. Did all the clips break? Is it fairly easy? Can you give a brief how to list? Also link or list the products used to treat? Many thanks.

It doesn't take long, maybe about 30mins if the bolts come out easy. Needed and angle grinder to get ours off 😅 there are no plastic clips for the outer sill, just bolts so you don't need to worry about braking those! We'll add a list of the products we used in the description 👍🏽

Feel your pain - did this a couple of years ago. Just now de-rusted the whole of the back half of the car - rear axle waiting to go on with lots of new bits! Good effort - keep going!

You can get them from BMW brand new but will need painting. Or you can check the forums and Facebook groups to see if anyone is selling them second hand. Most will have a little bit of surface rust but that can be fixed the same way we did here! Good luck

Rust is the biggest killer of every car if it's made of steel, unless it's stainless steel.
