Thanks for this video. Took me 20 minutes, siphoned out the coolant from the tank first, then upper hose, bolts removed, lower sensor, then the lower hose (used cork to plug up this hose to prevent coolant all over the floor). Word of caution - beware of after-market coolant reservoirs. I had replaced this one previously and it didn't last long. Also, the coolant sensor is important, so this time, instead of transferring the sensor from the old tank to the new tank, I bought the whole tank and sensor together. Much better, and the sensor is cheap compared to the tank. FCP Euro had the BMW parts, and shipping was free. Saved $$ and time doing it myself.
Good Stuff Omar. I don't think having to replace this part after so many miles is to bad. After all its not a Toyota! Also, the BEST tip or your engine bay is to clean as normal and spray the ENTIRE thing with Regular Amour All. I have been doing this for 20 years an people can't believe how clean my engine bay stays. It does NOT attract dust in my opinion. Give it a day or so to sit and soak / dry It will become less shiny and you will love it.. Just spray and close the hood. Later!
Hey bro I noticed my coolant tank was spitting out coolant . So there might be air in there because once I take off the cap the pressure starts coming out making the coolant leak out from the tank , also there’s oil in my coolant so could it also be the oil housing gasket ?
My 08 328xi leaked coolant last night. Noticed it when I went to drive it to work in the morning. Hoping it's the same issue or a hose, because apparently the n51 radiator is stupid expensive.
Yo what’s up! I had a huge coolant leak yesterday on my 335i. The upper radiant hose ripped and I had to replace it in a Safeway parking lot. Luckily there was a good parts store a mile away from my location
Allen Gonzalez hahah no I swear, I was driving on the freeway and I got a message my engine was overheating and it started going into limp mode slowing down on its own so I had to get off the freeway and turn it off and all my coolant had leaked and it was all over my from driver side fender and wheel
Hey Omar, I've been waiting to install a few parts on my 335i so far i have cowl filters and dual cone intake, waiting for installation i have: VRSF charge pipe + HKS blow off valve, ARM motorsports intercooler, downpipes and last but least the inlets!!! I've been readinh in a lot of forums and people say its a pain in the ass when it comes to inlets. To share a little bit more.... I'm worried because the transmission oil pan started leaking 2 days ago and i think i will have to replace the gasket and that comes with replacing the oil, let me know if you have any recommendations. I will wait until you do the downpipes LOL to make sure i do it right the first time, keep up the good work man!
Haha thanks man! Yea im excited for the DP's, but as far as the transmission oil pan goes i'm not sure! It seems like a more difficult repair to do from what I've heard but I would consult with BMW Fanatic!
N54 Lord I will definitely try to reach out BMW Fanatic about this, I've seen a lot of videos by now and searched for info in forums it seems pretty easy to do! Will see thanks for your reply man!
Guess i got ripped off. Mechanic charged me $500 bucks for replacing the expansion tank and an upper radiator hose parts and labor included. Couldve been more because of the coolant needed but i gave them my own i bought from the bmw dealer but turns out they didnt use it. I guess the previous owner was using green coolant so they used that and they dudnt want to use the blue one your supposed to use. They said that it takes a while to flush out the green coolant and it wasnt included in the labor. So now my bmw is running green coolant smh
Not sure if you are religious at all but all your videos remind me of the same thing. Two things actually. 1. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy (Matt 5:7) 2. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. (Proverbs 9:9) You gave me a gift from your trials and errors. Thought I would do the same in return from my own. Be well, friend. He is on your right hand and on your left.
