Fixing the freehub body on a EBike!

In this video a customer brought in an EBike because the gears were turning but the wheel was not. The bike needed a new freehub. Parts are not available so we are going to put two bad motors together to make one good one. At least that is the plan.....

I am still watching videos to find out. Is the Eahora Juliet 2 a cassette or freewheel, they are new & great I have over 1000 miles on mine. I want to replace 14t- 28t to a 11t-28t gearing. There is not much info on them.

It a freewheel. It is not compatible with a 11-28 without buying a new wheel.

Some of the cheaper wheels have moulded spokes with pressed in motor housings making them throw away items .

Sorry. I thought I did. The freehub threads into the aluminum cover. The threads in the cover stripped so I had to swap parts around to make it work.

Make sure the wires to your motor are plugged in properly. You may need to clean the connector with rubbing alcohol. Make sure it's completely dry before plugging it back in. Check the wiring for damage. Goodluck.👍

The first wheel had a little bit of damage on the spoke so wouldn't it been better to use the other wheel look like in the video it had damage the first wheel I might be wrong though

so this was a bust. since these are rentals they will be abused. that it was running when fixed. there will be a charge. .. i did notice that the plate had a pin. was this a factor in the motor failure???..... so did you watch a UT video on this bike for the repair. or is there a web page for the company. ... now if the motor is bad i would check for bad caps or diodes, or mosfats. a 50 cent part and a soldering gun . back in working order. as a side note i did let the ads play through. stay well see you next time.

Thanks. The pin you saw was the magnet for the speed sensor. I am not very good at diagnosing motherboards but I am willing to learn. Thanks for the input. I didn't look at RU-vid for information on the motor. I just went for it.👍

they aren't plastic gears, they are nylon. They are used because they are much more quiet that any other material. It is normal that they wear out in serval thousand miles depending on how hard you ride.

louis rossmann did a lot of monkey wrenching on his ebikes before he torched two of them, those gears are nylon and supposedly pretty tough but there are metal replacement parts for the popular ones. put some contact cleaner on your plugs or dielectric grease to keep moisture out.

I knew they were nylon. I just said plastic of course I'm getting called out on it. I go through a lot of dielectic grease on these bikes.👍

Make a freehub on CNC if you know a good fitter machinist . I know someone who has done this .

It was a lot easier to just use one of his other wheels that was bad. It was also free and saved time. Thanks for commenting.👍

@@alloutbikes You swapped the freehubs instead of reconditioning them . Jason , what would you have done if there wasn't a spare wheel to cannibalise from as it were ? I appreciate your lateral thinking .

@@alloutbikes These wheels seem to be a bit on the throw away side compared to spoke laced ones which are common in Australia where I am which are more serviceable .

GET A BRUSHLESS MOTOR AND CONTROLLER TESTER, THE CONTROLLER DIED OR THE MOTOR HAS A BAD HALL SENSOR WHICH IS EASY TO CHANGE.

That is a brushless motor. ALL ebike hub motors are brushless. Lol

Wheelies cause extra load on the motor at low speed more than for which they are designed . Also limited size and ventilation are factors . Too much eddy currents in a limited number of field coils occurs , causing localised heat build up .This will in due course cause individual coils to overheat and open circuit . Gradual loss of power and eventual failure will result .
