Hi. I have a size 13 US hoof. I bought a gear longer lever. As mentioned, i was worried about the lever potentially going through the case. Because you cannot just move the lever up a spline as it hits the case, i got a fella to to TIG weld the shift lever pin up 15mm from the original. I found it better than the longer lever and the lever moves in the relief on the crankcase. Thanks for your vids.

Good evening to the land of the Frozen. I have two gen 1 KLR's. Like you, but a different brand, I used IMS lengthen gear shift lever. I had to also use lowering mounts for my foot pegs, IMS as well. My lowering mounts were also slightly rearset which added more room for my size 12 motorcycle boot. But my IMS foot pegs were also slightly rearset. About a 1in rear set in total between pegs and lowering mounts...perfect. That also freed up space for my long skinny legs. The KLR is now easier to standup on. It is still not a dirt bike, but it is easier to ride off road with. I have one of those Honda XL250r like you had and that is what brought me to watching your Channel. That is a wonderful little bike, white with a red engine...beautiful. thanks for the videos...Texas

That sounds like a great setup. Mine works busy I actually had to return a set of really stiff boots a while back since I still didn't have enough room for them lol. That's awesome, I really did like that bike. It was a good looking machine for sure. After I sold it to my buddy who blew it up after a rebuild and he sold it to another guy who's going to replace the motor and get it going again I guess so that was good to hear!

@@SwankyCatProductions after installing the Tusk shifter and foot pegs I find it's still too tight for comfy shifting up and down with my AlpineStars boots 🥴 I'm afraid to adjust up one spline ( though it will go on and shift up ) the shifter lever just touches the motor as it clicks. Think I may have to buy the lowering peg brackets I seen in your video. Did you have similar issues with your boots?

Thanks for another KLR video. On another note; I use a battery maintainer on my 4wheeler and 4 motorcycles I keep in a non heated garage over the winter time. The maintainers keep me from having to take the batteries into the house to keep warm over the winter time and keep them charged. The new KLR has a lithium ion battery which isn't supposed to be charged in cold temperatures. Do you think there would be a problem putting a battery maintainer on the KLR battery over the winter when it would trickle charge and maybe have problems unlike lead acid batteries? I know there isn't a problem using the lithium ion battery in the cold temperatures. But charging one is a different story. The Tesla's have a heating mechanism that warms the lithium ion battery in the cars so there isn't a problem for charging the battery in the cold. Any thoughts on this? I usually see temps below zero for a few weeks and then most of the winter it's anywhere from zero to 20 degrees F. at my house. You look like you have a heated garage and so this shouldn't be an issue for you. Maybe I'm over thinking this
@SwankyCatProductions
@SwankyCatProductions 2 года назад
Hmm yeah I'm not sure on that one either. I actually pull my bikes into the lower level of my house for storage so they are always warm when behind charged. Pulling the batteries would be annoying but I suppose it beats replacing them?

2023 KLR 650 Adventure owner here….I just bought the Tusk foot pegs and Shift lever, can’t wait to install them. Question…..how does someone know if the shift lever will be positioned properly? Just eye ball it and call it good or make sure it sits where the factory shift lever sat? Thank you for posting.
@SwankyCatProductions
@SwankyCatProductions Месяц назад
Nice! I had the same question. It may seem like there are several possible positions, but there are really only two or three options that actually work. You could certainly take a, straight on photo, of the stock lever in order to match up the new one. However, it may not be bad to play around with a few other options since you'll have new pegs and a longer lever. Whatever feels best and works best, is where it should be.

I have a 2023 KLR 650S and I can not get my boot under the shifter. I raised it 1 spline yesterday morning and was back to the house in 2 minutes when I realized I couldn't upshift now because it hits the case. So totally stuck with this position. So if this is longer on the 650S, it surprises me.

Nice - I see a purchase in my future( after I do all the fix’s/changes I have in the works) I’ve been looking for a shifter that you can shift up with your heal and down with your toe to no avail yet. This might be what I go with unless I make one of my own. It is a swanky part!
