Fixing the Power Steering Leak on my E39 M5 Wagon (Found more leaks?)

Today, we're replacing both power steering lines that were leaking on my E39 M5 Wagon. This procedure also applies for 540i cars, and I've linked the parts I installed below, in case you're doing the same job at home.

That's a job I need to do on my 540. I need a new steering box too since I can't adjust out the play and my pump is getting weak. I have to gas it a little to get any assist at low speeds. I plan on going with an m5 box but I'm learry of buying a used one.

Is that chattering sound when you start the car coming from the power steering pump? It quiet down after you add fluid in it.

Hmmm, wondering if you’re already leaking from the ends of the hoses again, based on the clamps you were using.

1. What did you use the big crescent wrench for? (Couldnt see what you were putting it on.) 2. What kind of water nozzle setup was that you used to clean around the PS pump after install?

1. I didn't have my 22mm handy, so used a crescent wrench for that banjo bolt on the P/S pump. 2. That's my greenworks pressure washer! I have an older 1700 PSI model, but even a 1500psi is perfect for car washing, and pressure cleaning off oil/grease. 3. Thanks for watching! :)

Do you think the e39 T needs camber plates when lowered. just lowered my e39 525it on KW v1s. Running it to a bit of drift and noises

Coming up for this build we've got full front suspension bushings going in, brake pads soon, and in the next few months we'll be doing a vanos rebuild! Anything you want to see content on let me know :)

@@TheBimmerBarn i’ve always been a fan of beisan’s vanos kit, something abt the old html website makes me trust them more than the others lol. probably gonna do an install on my m52tu soon, would love to hear abt which vanos kit you prefer

@@TheBimmerBarn If you have time, I’d like to see some DIYs on these items: - Vanos rebuild - Throttle body cleaning and adjustments - Aftermarket fuel pump installation - Auxiliary fan replacement I am preparing to do the timing chain guides and rod bearings myself which is why I was hoping for some detailed instructions :) I know its going to be a pretty difficult task but I’m up for the challenge. Again, thanks for the great content and keep up the good work.

Another great tutorial. Can't wait new content on this E39 and I really hope your glass latch open button breaks up anytime soon do that finally YT can have a tutorial on taking off that demon piece of german technology. A word of advice - stay away from hammer unless you feel like buying a new glass for the latch :)
