hard work, bloody hands, frustration, money spent ect ect...the sound of the engine, that first start, that smile it brings to ones face.....PRICELESS........ or as you put it,. FUCK YEA!!!!!! LOL
This is a very talented young man and to take a seized engine to a running one on the budget that he has is an amazing feat. there is a bright future for you.
a few notes: 1) the oil light should go off once the motor is running since its a pressure sensor...not oil level sensor. 2) make sure to use bike specific oil OR oil that doesnt have friction modofiers in it. otherwise you can ruine your wet clutch. Valvoline makes a good non synthetic bike oil that is pretty affordable and csn be found in pretty much any auto parts store in the US. 3) that carb sucks fuel up into the carb just as a moer, it just takes some time to get those bowls filled. make sure the fuel level in the carbs is set correctly. if its set too low it will have trouble running. 4) small displacement bikes are usually pretty cold blooded. get that choke repaired bc you are going to need it. once up totemp, the bike should stop hesitsting off idle. 5) balancing the vacuum between carbs will also help idle and off idle performance. look forward to seeing your big kart build! its going to be sick with that little 500 powering it!
Congrats on starting it! I recently cleaned and synced my GS500 carbs. There are some tiny o-rings that are easy to loose. I had to improvise and use gasket sealant. Now it runs flawlessly.
great videos very educational and inspirational i feel i have learnt with you. And on such a tight budget too well done . I am now looking round for a bike to fix up myself thanks .
AWESOME bro!!! I was so excited when she started up! Can't wait to see her going. But don't worry about having to wait for $$ everyone has to do that unless ur rich. But keep it up bro. Two thumbs up!
you should start a GoFundMe to fund some of these awesome projects. I am sure people would be more than happy to donate some money. I personally would. I want to see the kart you're going to be putting this in.
Caution or just a very helpful comment. If you don't run this engine with its factory air filter in place it might pop and hesitate because its running lean. This happens more when its under load, or its more noticeable. If you don't use the factory air filter you might need to move the needles up and change the main jets. These carbs are made to run perfectly with the factory air filter in place. P.S. Good job, thumbs up all the way. P.P.S. If you ever want to turbo this motor ( blow through carb. style ) in the future, I'm wiling to talk about it. I've never done it, but its like my hobby to research the topic.
Don’t use starter fluid man, just google why. Always helps to turn the engine over by hand or put the kill switch on and crack the starter motor on. Mainly because on a rebuilt engine or on that’s been sitting a long time there will be lack of oil where gravity has played its part. Good to see you having fun though man and learning !
This engine is super durable, I own 25 year old gs500 for 3 years now and have zero issues with it. This second gear break thing must be a myth, i never heard of such. Good luck with the project!
great stuff! Just wondering about the ignition coils that you have labelled right and left. Is there a difference between right and left coils? I have no way of knowing on my parts bike which is in pieces: 2005 GS500F. Also, on say the left coil, does it matter if the white wire goes to the top or bottom terminal? I noticed that the two terminals have a slightly different shape from one another. Thanks so much! Any help appreciated!
cant find part 3 when you put the engine on the frame. well i have seen part 2 where you working hard on the frame but there is a little isue.. when you go take place on the race chair, move youre arms to to front. there you see a little bit of a problem where you need the steering. i think when you move the front window part a bit to the front you can get the steering wheel in and you also have room to get the padles in. when thats done you can weld in youre front window tubes on the frame so you can make the dashboard on the good place. make sure you do this safe goz i realy like there vids to learn. keep up the good work and remember to drive safe (dont forget youre brakes)
The carbs on a Motorcycle (or any carbs) function exactly like a lawnmower in respect to how it draws in fuel- it does NOT pump fuel into the airbox then suck it back in- in any way....... Stop pumping and twisting the throttle like a mental patient while you crank it. That model has no accelerator pumps! it would have started right away if you would have applied the CHOKE, or fuel enrichener, Suzuki's with stock pipe and stock jets tend to run cold blooded and need Choke to start. now that youve separated the carbs when you cleaned them, it will never idle correctly again till you synch the carbs with proper gauges- (next time you clean bike carbs where there is more than ONE, never separate them. just clean the bowls and jets, dont take them that far apart, as it is totally un-necessary - ALSO - the oil light comes on and STAYS ON when the key is on until there is OIL PRESSURE present
hey great job ! How cool is that ? If you need some ideas for a cart look at 2jeffs channel and look what he built ! I think you could really have fun with it and all the power that your engine puts out !
Would you be able to sell one of those trikes you have and maybe ship it over somewhere? They just seem fun to use and what not. But one question, what do you think the price of one of those trikes are?
put the rear axle on a swing arm, you don't need fully independent. Swing arm and straight solid axle or live axle. You can still make the front independent.
Go to a junk yard and grab constant velocity axles / joints from some car... Stronger than u-joints, and if the rubber boots are intact they are water / dirt proof
