A short and simple job in most cases: I'm fixing our VW Vanagon Westfalia's odometer. I previously fixed the speedometer by replacing the cable, but for some reason the mileage wasn't ticking up.
Stop sign was just a suggestion? 😂 Thanks a lot for the content I have the same issue and have to go deep this spring. This has definitely helped lessen the anxiety. Happy New Year 2024!
Welcome to Vanagon ownership. This part of the van just plain SUX. My cable made a loud noise when it was 40 f outside. was able to fix that with zip ties, then my odometer stopped, fixed that by replacing the plastic gear, not easy. Now speedometer n odometer stopped working probably the cable since its the original one. the Van teaches you Patience
I like the video but it wasn't really a video on how to fix the odometer problem? 😂 My odometer seems to only clock miles in the early mornings and that's it for some strange reason 😂
@@BennyObscene Hi Benny, I am a 66 yr old woman in Nova Scotia with a 86 Westy. The odometer is broken and the shop wants $950.00 for a new speedometer, just the part!!. I am pretty saavy, but certainly NOT a mechanic. How hard is this job? It looks simple - for you. Wish me luck. Loved your video. Thanks, Hope
I certainly respect the next level of skills that pros have, especially with these unique older vehicles, but I could not disagree more with your statement. Amateurs should always mess with their vehicles. Learn, grow, mess up, pay for it, and more.
