In the '70s, I had a Daisy 44 pellet pistol. I built a refillable 12 gram cartridge for it with a schraeder valve stripped from a bicycle tube. I placed the valve towards the bottom of the cartridge so that it would protrude through the grip in the empty space behind the tip of my little finger. This way, I didn't have to remove it from the pistol to refill it. I learned to wait for it to come to room temperature before resuming my target practice, since it would misbehave , giving poor accuracy and speed, otherwise. As a machinist, this is an elegant solution. Thanx.

There are 2 pressure vessels: A source vessel and a target vessel (aka 'mother tank' and 'nursing tank'). If the pressure is the same in each, liquid will not flow from one to the other. Chilling the target vessel lowers the pressure inside. Liquid flows from high pressure space to lower pressure space.

@Mikey8567
@Mikey8567 4 года назад
To make this safe (so you don't have a glued joint failure) you need to insert your valve an 1/8" deeper, glue it in place and then swedge the upper edge inward towards the center creating a inward bent lip. This would keep the valve assy from being blown out if it over pressured due to heat or glue failure.
@MisterFizz
@MisterFizz 4 года назад
Appreciate the suggestion. This video was made early-on in the development process. Although we never experienced a blow-out from any of those built this way, we began threading the valve insert and tapping the bulb to minimize the likelihood of that happening. Good point. O.T.... Aaron Fletcher I would certainly hope so, but I wouldn't be willing to bet someone's life (or serious injury) on it for what amounts to a novelty item. If it is refillable CO2, it should have a burst disc. Refillable CO2 canisters are available as small as 4oz and there are compressed air tanks as small as 13ci.

Do these valves provide enough output to power a CO² blowback pistol with a refillable cartridge? Also, wouldn't it be safer to have cut outs in the valve stem and crimp it into the cartridge neck, using the glue as a sealant only?
@MisterFizz
@MisterFizz 4 года назад
The force of compressed gas used as a propellant is proportional to the pressure the gas exerts against the pellet or other projectile being fired. Regardless of the gas used (CO₂, air, other), the pressure inside the cartridge bulb is proportional to the temperature of the gas inside the bulb. At the same pressure, and as long as a sufficient volume of gas is allowed to be discharged at the time of firing, the force exerted by the gas against the projectile should be the same from this co2 cartridge as it would be from any other co2 bulb. If you find that a non-refillable commercially available cartridge you've used has sufficient power to do what you've asked, then this refillable bulb will as well. If non-refillable bulbs aren't powerful enough for your blowback pistol, this bulb will not fix that. Hope that's of some use. Here's a use for compressed carbon dioxide gas you've probably never tried... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nH6a2VL-iK0.html
@DualDesertEagle
@DualDesertEagle 4 года назад
@@MisterFizz Normal one time use bulbs DO work in CO2 guns, but they don't have anything stuck im their neck that could potentially obstruct the flow of CO2 through it and possibly reduce the maximum output to something non-sufficient. That's especially critical for guns that kick the slide back to cycle the gun, like my KWC Desert Eagle. That's why I'm asking. A successful test with that particular gun would indeed mean that most CO2 powered guns would work using CO2 bulbs that have been converted in this way since it's definitely one of the guns that use the most CO2 per shot and thus require a high flow rate. And I don't think u've answered my question about the seating of the valve yet. With the high pressure inside those bulbs I fear the loctite may not be sufficient to permanently secure the valve and stop it from turning into a high velocity projectile after a whole bunch of refills, since the repeated change in pressure is basically equivalent to repeatedly pushing on the valve from inside. I think crimping the valve in place and using the loctite as a sealant only would be safer than also putting all that pressure on the loctite. Or u could add threading to the valves and cut matching threads into the bulb necks to then screw the valves in,still using loctite as sealant and thread locker. That's just a suggestion tho, I do have to say I don't really know what that stuff is capable of, it's just the lack of axial supports that makes me think the glue alone could break after a number of refillings.
@MisterFizz
@MisterFizz 4 года назад
@@DualDesertEagle You make a good point about having something stuck in the neck that could potentially obstruct the flow of CO2 through it. I never tested a refillable bulb in a pellet gun of any sort. Since your question deserves a real answer based upon firsthand experience, a guess would be unreliable and inappropriate. And I did completely overlook the 2nd part of your Q re: use of glue only to secure the valve body in the cartridge. Oops. After the video was made, we began threading the outside of the valve body and tapping the inside of the cartridge neck with matching threads to provide a more secure connection. The result was a safer implementation, for certain. If the glue joint failed, the shear strength of the threads made for a good backup strategy, providing a pathway for gas to vent and averting a projectile.
@DualDesertEagle
@DualDesertEagle 4 года назад
@@MisterFizz Good to know, coz if I ever get myself a CO2 powered gun again I'll definitely consider using this system, provided it works. If ur gonna test it I recommend the most CO2 hungry gun u can find to really find out the potential of this stuff.

@MisterFizz

Filling your lungs with compressed air without a weight belt is a bad idea - even at shallow depths. A small cartridge like this won't have much air inside, even at 1500 PSI. But if you cannot inhale the entire contents of the cartridge while standing on dry land, it's not a good idea to do it twelve feet underwater.

Very nice! But , is it really worth it??? When you use this thigs they don't last too long and what needs to be done including weighing the cilinder more than once! Refrigerate and do more things ! For the 10 seconds the charge last ! Well for what i use it for, Nooo I won't even think of been productive at ALL!!!

Looks like an accident waiting to happen! If the glued in valve decided to part company it would be like a bullet exiting.

Yeah I'm not trusting glue to hold something under high pressure to save a few cents cheap enough to buy new ones

Big difference between Loctite 680 and glue. The only way that valve is coming out is if you put way too much pressure to it or heat it red with a torch.

I can’t see how this can be safe, the glue will fail and the valve will end up in your eye as the temperature goes up and down wildly during use

Thank-you for the kind remarks. But you give me too much credit. This project was a failed entrepreneurial endeavor for me. Despite my high hopes for the product to be popular with real customers and buyers, it turns out it was more popular with RU-vid viewers. I am guessing you found my video as the result of some interest you have with carbon dioxide gas cylinders??? So, here is something new... Although slightly off-topic - but still relevant to CO₂, you may be curious to know of this alternative use of compressed carbon dioxide gas: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nH6a2VL-iK0.html.

For sure. Just use the empty cartridges that fit your BB gun to fabricate the refillable bulbs.
