$2356 is nothing. It cost me that just to fill my tank with premium these days.

Clean the Maf sensor and change the cabin air filter..That was one helluva bill. They should have changed the thermostat while they had the antifreeze drained.Don’t forget the pcv valve

Brother, you can you do it all yourself, $330 to change rear differential oil ? It’s 2 screws 🤦‍♂️. fj is the first car I started working on at the age of 43. They are easy to work on !

Good to know! I just bought mine a couple months ago, it's at 99,820 miles lol. I haven't really worked on any vehicles since my '85 Camero in high school! I'm 45

most of these, save for the flushes, can be easily done at home with basic hand tools. you could have saved about 1800 dollars avoiding labor and 300% material markups on parts and fluids. the "discount" is also fake, they mark it up so it can be "discounted" down to their target price.

Thanks for some of the Heads Up....:) I had no idea a spark plug change would be that Pricey.😮 I'll probably do that myself. One thing I replaced around 66,000 was my Serpentine belt. I'm glad I did cause you could start to see daylight through the belt. I have a 13 Model same Color as yours with almost 69,000 on it now. Have a good day.:)

I did the spark plug and I had to buy an extension for the socket and it was pretty easy. RU-vid helped.

I had the dealership change my plugs at just over 130K, next time I will do them myself. I do remember it was not as much as he paid.

I just did the spark plugs on my 2010. It was super easy. 100 bucks for the best plugs I could get and it took me about 45 minutes to swap them all out.

Hey mate, you got ripped off! $500 labour for spark plugs? I didn't see. Anything re filters, air, fuel and cabin, transfer case oil change? Maf sensor clean? Oil pick up screen check? $330 for rear diff oil😳it's a 15 minutes job.

I just had all that done plus a few other things at my local dealership in Louisiana and it was around $1400 and some change.

I just purchase our FJ and the previous owner had that same work performed (minus the brake fluid flush) his receipt came to $1890. So yours sounds about right, The tech didn't grease the zerks on the drive shafts or on the universal joints.

Oh my! I am glad that I can do most of these service myself. I did my coolant change and thermostat at 100K I did have the dealer do the transmission fluid change. I may attempt it myself next time. I have an 07 so oil changes are simply easy. When I first got my FJ I did have them service diffs and transfer case, but now I do it myself, it really was easier than I thought it would be. Plugs I had them do, but I will do them myself next time. I have not changed out the power steering fluid yet, but I really need to. Brakes i changed that fluid after I had installed extended brake lines in the rear. I cleaned the throttle body myself after getting a code pop up (the thing you learn to do) when you have to.) Take care of your FJ and she will take you on many an adventure and bring you home. Thanks for sharing.

Dealer used Junk parts and oil. Do the oil change over. Use Amsoil filter and oil. Pricey but worth it. You need to watch all of these service activities on RU-vid. Easier than what you have already done with your FJ. Toyota is famous for not doing the work right.

P.S. my independent mechanic said the injector cleaner is a scam. Here's what you do: put a good injector cleaner in your fuel with a tankful of Shell premium fuel with the nitrogen (it’s in the premium fuel) , then run 3 tankfuls of the Same fuel. Project Done!!!

What a rip off. Looks like they charged you for 1 gallon if coolant. This tells me they drained the radiator but not the block. I got less than 3 quarts out of draining my radiator and over 4 quarts out of the block. Used 2 gallons to fill as the level wasn't up to the full mark on degas bottle when I started.

Hey nice fj videos! I use 91 at Costco, it’s only 30cents more instead of 40. Also the fj plastic is pretty smooth, what restoration liquid do you use?

I get 91 at Costco too! I made a video about restoring my FJ's plastic trim here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M-EeQuL6fwk.html

wtf this is fuckin scam, $300 labor for rear diff is this a joke it take 2 minutes to do it, $550 for spark plug labour and every part you mentioned is more than double the price online. I am never ever taking mine to a dealership, honestly just do it yourself it's so easy to work on this car.
