Great job man, now with the drive train complete and looking like new, the Landcruiser made a big step towards coming back to life again. Great to see that project making such process. That parking brake design is really weird, but probably quite effective. Can't wait to see the FJ driving.

So good to see this progress. I don't know how you have all the time! I had been thinking of doing a 76 or later FJ, but you are inspiring me that an older one is a good candidate as well. Keep up the great work.

When you install the gearbox first check the spigot bearing will fit over the spigot on the front input shaft they often do not polish the spigot with wet and dry until the bearing slides over the spigot.Spigot bearings need to be replaced every time the gearbox comes out do not use the bolts to pull the gearbox in it should slide in easy if everything is set up right.Make sure the clutch pedal has about 4mm travel before the pushrod hits the back of the clutch M/C piston give the clutch fork 3/16 of a inch clearance from the S/C push rod.When servicing these must be checked otherwise the thrust bearing P/Plate C/Plate will fail prematurely.I worked on these when they were new.

This one is coming out splendidly as well. I love these old Landcruisers. A friend’s dad had a new red one when we were kids; it got stolen and never recovered. These are tough high quality trucks. I love their looks too; very much like the earliest Broncos which I really like as well.

Check the orientation of the ujoints. Not sure but, they appear to be out of phase.

This is so therapeutic with no sound. Do ever go back and torque your bolts to spec? Also, get a Milwaukee 2457-20 M12 Cordless 3/8" Sub-Compact 35 ft-Lbs 250 RPM Ratchet. Has come in handy many times in my 84 FJ60. Love your vids!

Your rear driveshaft ujoints are not clocked the same , may have vibrations!

It should. But if it doesn’t it’s not that big of deal. I really never intended for this build to go so far. I’m building it as a driver not a garage queen 👍

Do you have a manual you are following, or how do you know where everything goes and how to adjust/set things? Also, do you go back to look at video stills to see how things came apart? Lovin the series.

Mine has the stock F1 engine, but I think most people like the F2 Engine

Is that stock fan going to keep up with the cooling with a/c? Why no electric fan to help?

@@Jerod_Helt ok cool. I subbed lastnight. I'm gwtting my grandpa's 72 fj and gonna gwt it it going. He drove my brother and I around on Saturdays backroading. Now I want to take my grandkids riding aeound backroads too. I like your channel. Really like not having music on over the video.

I noticed you did not do anything inside the transmission. Was that intentional? Everything working okay, or you just did not want to mess with the gears?

There was no reason to think the trans needed any work.

@@Jerod_Helt Right. I have done further research (I am still a newbie to autos) and it sounds like transmissions are a pain and a half. Manual trannys are hard enough, but automatic trannys sounds like you should simply scrap it and buy a new or rebuilt one. Thanks for answering my question. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Q: have you ever worked on a FJ40 before? Have you rebuilt everything like this build? Or is this a first time for you? (Also would you consider rebuilding my FJ40?)

This is my first FJ, but I’ve restored other cars in the past. Sorry I don’t have time to take on other peoples projects.
