FL2 2007/LR2 2008 Troubleshoot & Fix Foul Smell entering vehicle with A/C on Recirculation Mode.
The HVAC air inlet shutoff valve was found compromised. There existed a big hole at the bottom right hand side that was letting air flow from outside into the A/C blower and ultimately into the vehicle even though the shutoff valve is fully closed. The valve is located in the engine bay area underneath the front Windshield Cowl.
I used a sort of soft plastic to reconstruct the missing/worn out piece, and then secure it in place using Shoe-Fix Glue. In addition, I used the Snudertech Door Sill Protector as an added adhesive before securing piece with a copper wire. The intent of the copper wire is to ensure that the soft replacement plastic piece does not find it's way into the spinning A/C Blower if for any reason the adhesive fails in operation.
