It looks like you are an amateur ...I think your rotors are warped not your brakes....

Actually, I was spot on. After contacting Hawk Performance and explaining the track and speed, they confirmed I was exceeding the pad temp limits of the DTC-30’s. They recommended the DTC-60 which I bought and just used today at Homestead again. Video will be up soon. Rotors are not wrapped, they’re perfect. 👌🏽

@@jmed753 thanks. Actually did my 2nd session about 2 weeks ago and upgraded pads. Zero issue and great time. New video up with that.

I also had a number of issues with LogR but I finally got it working. After failing over and over again on my first track day, I came home and created a custom lap around my neighborhood so I could test it out in my free time. There are a few gotchas to watch out for. First of all, the engine has to be warmed up enough to register an oil temp before it will let you push the button to start data logging. But even once you start it, it won't work if you have the track direction backwards. The track I went to wasn't in the pre-populated list so I had to create a custom location and I didn't realize that there is an arrow showing the direction when you set the start point. My arrow was backwards by default so I had to rotate it to point the correct direction that we were going. Hopefully this helps ya. If you are still having trouble, hit me up and I can probably help.

@agcrxturbo9577 Месяц назад
@@DennisJalbert that’s awesome that u created that in your neighborhood to test out, very clever. 👌🏽👌🏽 I was able to use the loaded track and I also created my own with the arrows in the correct direction. I think what I failed to do was end the log when I would pit in. I would just shut the car off because I forgot I had it on and also because I didn’t know I needed to end it. So my next track event is August 31st and looking forward to seeing if that was it and plan on documenting it too with the upgrades I’ve made. Do you remember ending the session on your log?
@DennisJalbert
@DennisJalbert Месяц назад
@@agcrxturbo9577 I can't remember if I turned it off or not. I remember considering that and I know I did stop it some of the times, but I'm not sure if I did it every time. When you hit the "Start Data Log" button, did you get the red bar at the top of the screen with the timer that starts counting how long it has been data logging? And then when you passed the start line for the first time on track, did the lap timer start counting?
@agcrxturbo9577
@agcrxturbo9577 Месяц назад
@@DennisJalbert I do remember the red bar on the top when I hit the start. I don’t remember seeing it count but then again, I was focused on just driving so idk. I might just do what u did, create a lap around the neighborhood just to see if it logs.

@@douglaskrueger357 thank you. I don’t have any regrets for lowering the car with the swift springs. I feel like the car feels great with them in these Florida streets. I don’t have many rough roads out here so can’t really chime in on that but when I do drive in rough areas, it’s still not bad to me. I added 18’s with a 275/35 tire which makes them even more comfy now.

Thanks for the video. Good idea to take it easy and learn the track. I'm planning my FL5 track prep. I'm thinking Swift springs as well plus Hardrace camber front and rear. AP J hook front rotors, PMU CR front pads, ti shims, dot 4 brake fluid, with Falken RT660 tires.

@@touringteg that sounds like a good time. I’ve personally loved the RT660’s and ran them on my ek hatch and were amazing. I’ve actually just ordered 18’s, Kumho V730 and I’m also planning on running titanium shims with the Hawk DTC-60’s. Hopefully all soon so I can put up another video of unboxing and installing.

Does Honda void your warranty if you track your Car? I had a EVO back in 2006 and Mitsubishi voided warranties left and right.
@agcrxturbo9577
@agcrxturbo9577 3 месяца назад
@@zmelli I’d doubt they would, considering this is a Type R and is advertised as a car that is “track ready”. The whole concept behind the Type R is to be raced.
@zmelli
@zmelli 3 месяца назад
@@agcrxturbo9577 Remember a "Track Car" is not a "Race Car" I did not know Honda considered the new "R" a Track Car. As a previous owner of a 2001 ITR I can attest that the ITR was over built and extremely durable. I knew an Autocross Instructor that had 30K on an ITR that was only used on weekends for training. He had only needed to change his brake pads and rear shocks. However in the end we will see how much the new "R" Cars can handle, just keep an eye on that oil temp!
@agcrxturbo9577
@agcrxturbo9577 3 месяца назад
@@zmelli true but the R in Type R stands for racing. Now, I don’t “race” my car in competition but I will be tracking it. The car even has a built in lap timer and even shows you how to get consistently better laps. I’d say I should be fine. As for oil temps, yes, I was keeping an eye on it and when I saw it climb, just let off for half a lap and was good to go. Plus I put in 5w30 for higher temps.

Nice video man! I see you deinstaled spacers before track day? Any special reason why? Also did you ever feel increase in understeer after installing the spacers on the car? Thanks
@agcrxturbo9577
@agcrxturbo9577 2 месяца назад
@@robertskrinjar3263 thank you. I removed spacers on the track since I figured it’s one less thing that can go wrong. Spacers got torqued to car and wheels to spacer so that’s 10 lug nuts per wheel. I felt peace of mind. No understeer felt at all.
@robertskrinjar3263
@robertskrinjar3263 2 месяца назад
@@agcrxturbo9577 thanks for the answer. Makes sense and it is one thing less to worry about. On the other nore, have you ever pushed your car with the spacers and have you noticed increase in understeer? My experience is that without spacers I feel little understeer and sometimes oversteer as well. With spacers there is no oversteer but I think I can feel more of an understeer play. Could be just in my head and yes, could be driver mode as well as I try to push this car the same way as my previous fk8 when these cars might be two different stories in reality.
@agcrxturbo9577
@agcrxturbo9577 2 месяца назад
@@robertskrinjar3263 I haven’t had a FK8 so wouldn’t be able to compare unfortunately. As for pushing with spacers, yes I do around town on on-ramps or sweeping corners with no traffic around and haven’t experience what you’re saying. When approaching these, I usually get up to speed faster than I need, hit the brakes enough to take the corner safely but the shift in weight loads my front tires up and has more grip I feel. Also I make sure my tires are up to temp (not hard to do out in FL). Maybe check tire pressure and make sure you’re not over inflated.

Just my opinion, but I think the DTC-30s are too soft for track use. I would go with DTC-60s in the Hawk brand, or other brands of more track-focused pads.

I agree. I’ve never used the DTC-30 and thought it would have been okay. I contacted Hawk performance after the event and explained. They said DTC-60 is the way to go. They said I exceeded the temp rating.
