GREAT video, Lisa, and thanks for sharing! I am VERY familiar with Flagstaff and its iconic station which is one of the BEST places in the USA to gaze at passing trains along with La Plata, MO. and the Amtrak Station there and Depot Inn nearby. I LOVE Arizona and even looked at real estate in Flagstaff and several other Arizona cities years ago, especially Prescott. It is my second favorite state after Kansas, though I am a native from San Jose, CA. who currently lives in Albuquerque. Yes, it often gets quite windy in Northern Arizona like here in New Mexico, especially in the spring, and beware of the torrential thunderstorms in the summer in Flagstaff and the severe blizzards in the winter time. Glad you had a nice day on your visit and Meteor Crater east of Flagstaff and south of I-40 is also worth a visit along with the world-famous Grand Canyon north of Flagstaff. Happy Traveling and be safe out there on the road! 😎

@@LisaKEntertainment You are very welcome and thanks for your reply. Glad I found your YT channel and will be looking forward to more episodes. Glad you got your car fixed in Flagstaff. I got very nice road travel and train vibes from you in this video and for some reason, you reminded me of a former grammar and high school classmate named Debbie who I still am in touch with. 😎 Glad you have such a LOVE for trains that I have always had and I am almost 71. And yes, that Flagstaff Amtrak Station is a GREAT place to shop and visit with the workers there as I have also found out. You will also LOVE La Plata, MO. and say hello to Bob and Amy there at the cozy and nostalgic station. (I will be there in September and can hardly wait!) And the nearby Depot Inn in town is a GREAT place for an overnight stay when in the area but advance reservations are a MUST! Finally, when it the Midwest, check out the AWESOME train store in Deschler, NE. It might be the BEST store of its kind in the country! Take care and be safe out there on the road! 😎

As a kid I used to get on Amtrak at Flagstaff. Use to atop in Winslow at La Posada or went the other way to LA. Went to the other LA Louisiana getting on the train at Maricopa. Back then Amtrak had more stops lot of old cafes and diners, sadly not around. EL Paso still has the Burroto Lady. Across Union station in LA still has a great place for taquitos? I hope. El Rancho Grande. Safe travels.😊

Yes, last year, in March 2023, We took the Grand Canyon railroad to the south rim of the canyon. I had never seen the Grand Canyon before. My wife got tickets for their dome car. The trip was about 60 miles one way. We loved it. That was the best way to go to the Grand Canyon. The railroad did a nice job. I think that the train that is running in your video is the BN&SF mainline, If I remember that right. Great video.Thanks.

Make your way to Southern Nevada. I'll be your tour guide and show you how the railroad played a huge part in the construction of the Hoover Dam. The local county museum also has artifacts including houses the railroad built in the early 1900's. We can tour the Nevada Southern Railroad and also take a look on Fremont St and find the marker that denotes the location where land was sold, marking the origins of Las Vegas. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks, Terry

Now how cool is that? A beautifully preserved vintage train station (Man, is that place BUILT! Stone blocks and all!) with a "Twelve-inch-to-the-foot-scale" operating model railroad right outside the door! 🤣 I can't tell you what's to see that's "railroady" out your way but here in the Richmond VA area there's two well-preserved atations. One's in Ashland VA on the old RF&P (now CSX) mainline that been saved as a visitor center and RF&P mini-museum, and you can get close enough to the passing trains to touch 'em, not that you should! There's also the old C&O station in downtown Richmond, a well-preserved turn of the 20th Century station that's now used by Amtrak. Thanks for bringing us along Lisa!

When you get to Los Angeles, consider taking Amtrak's "Coast Starlight" to Seattle. It's a gorgeous route that you can't see by car. It's an overnight trip each way on the train. The night time hours are different in each direction. Just north of San Jose, the train runs through an old ghost town on one of the islands in the SF Bay. If you find yourself in the San Jose area for a while, the Niles District in Fremont is where the old Essanay movie studio was located. That's where most of the Charlie Chaplin and Bronco Billy movies were made. There's a historic theater and museum there. There's also a tourist train that runs between there and the town of Sunol. Its right of way was part of the original transcontinental railroad when it was extended from Sacramento through Stockton and Fremont to Oakland. In Sacramento, a few blocks from the Amtrak station, is the California Railroad Museum. That makes for an interesting day. About halfway between San Francisco and Sacramento is the town of Fairfield. East of Fairfield along Hwy 12 about halfway to the town of Rio Vista is the Western Railway Museum, which is dedicated to intercity trolley trains that were once common throughout the region. And if you go all the way out to Colorado, check out the Colorado Railroad Museum in the city of Golden. They have locomotives and rolling stock representing several generations of railroading. They also have most of the "Galloping Geese" from the old Rio Grande Southern railway. Golden is also the site of the original Coors brewery. A river flows past it, so now you know where the famous Rocky Mountain Spring Water comes from. And kids swim in it, so now you know where it gets its flavor. 😉
@LisaKEntertainment
@LisaKEntertainment 24 дня назад
That’s all fascinating! I’m so glad you shared that. I lived in San Francisco for five years, but never knew about that theater, museum, etc. I drove to North Carolina going straight up from LA to the Seattle area and then across. I haven’t taken the train past Northern California’s Wine country. Thank you for the recommendations, Paul!
