I'm using the same but with 17-18 grams of coffee and it is perfect. I don't remember the dial though 😬. It is recommended to use the comandante or kinu m47 but I think the hario slim works as well.

Hahaha I start to use 17-18 grams now too. It went well for me. But sometime, I never hit the 6 bar. On the other hand, I decided to get a Comandante now. Will review the grinder with Flair soon :)

@@sleepyfishYTPF Comandante really is an expensive grinder man. I will try to get the lighter roast from my local coffee shop nearby. :) I still don't have the Comandante, so it would be great to check out the lighter roast beans.

Hey Nice video, just wondering since i also use the Hario mini mill... How do you adjust the grind settings? Do you turn it clockwise till it cannot be turned even by force then you start the anti clockwise? I am using the neo with flow control along with 5-6 clicks but it's pretty hard to an extent I have to use 2hands... Do you think it's about the dosage? I used like 13.5 grams of coffee.

@pack.50milkst 3 года назад
Hi Gamon, it’s very hard to tell what grind setting is perfect for you if I am not there. But you could try to adjust your Hario Mill till you have your first good espresso from your Neo. Then adjusting by your coffee dosage as +/- 13.5 grams. Let me know how it goes:)

Right you are, turning right grinds finer and turning left, coarser😊

Nice video. I sell 1Zpresso grinders and i have been getting a few customers asking me if the 1Zpresso grinders are good to use with the Flair. Its quite interesting to see someone using a Hario Mini with the Flair. I know that the Hario grinders can grind pretty fine, but the distance between the steps are quite big, so any fine adjustment is not an option. I am curious about the 5 clicks shot, at 49 seconds, the extraction time its not too bad and it looks like you are using the non-pressurised ports filter also. What was the taste like, was it a little over extracted? I can say that the JX-Pro works very well with the Flair, its a very nice grinder and i also think that for nearly half the price of a Comandante, it preforms just as good, if not better in some ways.
@pack.50milkst
@pack.50milkst 3 года назад
First of all, 1Zpresso works perfectly for Flair :) I experienced that. Hario Mini's downside is just like you said, the distance between the steps is too big to be true. However, we could play with coffee dose instead to make this work. I have tried multiples adjustment in grams, and I found the right spot which delivers the best outcome. Still, Hario Mini would take you forever to grind coffee beans. To answer your question, the flavor of 5 clicks at 49 seconds was good. It's not a perfect espresso shot for sure, but this is a good shot if you take a try for a latte. It was not over-extracted so much but sour hahaha. XJ-Pro is also good with the Flair. For the Comandante, I believe it's not a good grinder for Espresso. I prefer REMI, 1Zpresso, or KINU as an espresso grind. First, Comandante takes more time to grind an espresso, and the step is still big. For the people who use the Comandante, they need the Red Clix to increase distance for the Espresso's steps.

@mightymightyironhead 3 года назад
@@pack.50milkst thank you for your reply. I agree with you that the Comandante is a little over estimated, especially for the price and i also agree with you that its best to get the Red Clix version. I find that the Comandante is a little inconsistent at the course level and produces a little too many fines. The Comandante is still a great grinder, but its way over priced. Its pretty amazing that a Hario grinder, pretty much the cheapest Hario grinder can grind fine enough for the Flair, i know that a ceramic burr is never going to be as good as a stainless steel burr set, but its a shame that the Hario does not have any fine adjustment, because that would save people a lot of money.

How many clicks on the Porlex was good for espresso with the Flair?
@pack.50milkst
@pack.50milkst 3 года назад
Honestly, I have tried the Porlex with Flair but it was not going well at all. I would say Hario Mill does a better job on that. but if you ask me how many clicks are possible to pull an espresso shot with Flair, I would say 3 - 4 clicks on Porlex. But still, it will not go well.

Hi Pack. It is clear that you got some nice espresso full of crema but I wonder if it tastes any good. coffee experts advise against using cheap (relatively) grinders for regular Flair. They say it is okay for Flair Neo as it uses a pressurized portafilter. What do you think?
@pack.50milkst
@pack.50milkst 3 года назад
I think it’s taste ok if you drink it with a milk. But directly itself as Espresso, the flavor won’t complex enough as Kinu grinder. Also it takes forever to grind coffee hahaha.
