Today, I do a real-time comparison of the Flame King 1 lb refillable bottle kit and the Mr Heater refill adapter #F276172. Link to Indiana fairgrounds disaster • The Indiana Coliseum E... Flame King instruction video • Flame King Eco Friendl... IN THE VIDEO I SHOULD'VE MENTIONED HAVING A FIRE EXTINGUISHER ON HAND. IF THE COUPLE THAT I MENTIONED IN THE NEWS ARTICLE HAD ONE HANDY, THE OUTCOME MY NOT HAVE BEEN SO TRAGIC.

Replying to your Don't refill 1lb propane tanks. I ran over one with my tractor and smashed it all up, didn't explode and torch ran when it was hooked up to it lol

Great video! And thanks for your thoughts at the end and giving some insight on the coleman tanks! I never knew you couldn't refill them!

I didn't know until recently, either. A viewer pointed that out to me. I looked into it, and sure enough, there are some really stiff penalties in place, especially for transporting disposables that have been refilled. I am glad you liked the video.

Great info re brass lacks sparks unlike metal (boom). 17:29 17:32 does that adapter just work with fuel king cans ?

Weigh it in grams, it's more accurate. I don't open the bleeder valve until after the pressure has equalized in both tank, it saves gas. The Mr. Heater Fuel Keg tanks weigh almost 200 grams more than the Flame King tank.

Thanks for the reply. I was totally unaware of the difference in wieght between the two bottles. Obviously, I don't have a Fuel Keg to use for comparison.

How come you have to tighten the bottle so much? I'm asking because when I attach one of these to my heater, I don't need to use a strap wrench or pliers. (Thanks for the video, trying to decide on one or th eother)

I included the strap wrench to demonstrate a means for people who have problems with their ability to grip and twist with bare hands. Thanks for your feedback. Have a good day.

Great video on the Part 2. I also wonder why comments were turned off, I wanted to make a positive comment - great video with important visuals/measurements!!! There needs to be more visuals like that so we all understand the difference between what “can” be done and what can be done safely 😉 (I wonder if YT turned off the comments?)

@Justicase3108 , First I would like to thank you for the encouraging words. Secondly, I turned the comment section off on the Pt1 and Pt2 videos because I was waking up in the morning to an onslaught of rude, audacious, people calling me a liar, it's all the government's fault type insulting comments. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but I'm a busy like everyone else in the world and I ddon't have time or the desire to screen every single one. I have about 1 or 2 more videos to make in regards to the Flame King bottle. I would like to get in contact with both Coleman and Flame King to get their side of the story as to why it's not recommended to refill disposables, why they still make them, and the benefits/drawbacks to the disposables and DOT approved refillables. As far as the comments go. We can all thank what I refer to as the IDIOT BRIGRADE. These aren't people who merely disagree with me. They're the ones who let their IDIOT FLAG fly when given a keyboard. Again, thanks for your feedback.

@@silverstreak232isn't fuel keg made by Mr Heater? Is Mr Heater owned by Coleman or something?

Refilling disposable 1 pound cylinders and can you really do it "safely" is hotly debated subject. I have a good dozen of the Flame King 1 pound bottles and 2 of their 14.1 ounce version (aka blue torch bottles). They're way more durable than the disposable tanks and more cost effective in the long run. Last I checked it varies from $4 to $6 per pound of the disposable compared to $0.75/lb when you refill your own with the proper equipment. Rough guessing 4 lbs per gallon at the last time I filled my 20 lb tank at $3 per gallon for an apples to apples comparison. More meth to the equation, I use on average 6 pounds per year at $6 a pop break even point is less than 5 years factoring in the initial cost of the filling station kit and 6 refillable cylinders. The only issue I had with them in the last 5 years is one of them started to develop a leak when I inserted the bottle to the appliance cause by a faulty O-ring that is under the plastic guide. I contacted Flame King regarding this and they sent me a repair kit at no cost to me.

I don't have any power or water or gas I have a little camping stove that uses these little green cans I have spent so much money buying these cans that I'm going broke I would love to have a refill them however my cans aren't refillable so what I would like to know is where can I get the cans that are refillable because this right here would probably save me so much money in the long run until I get my situation better 7 dollars a can I go through 3 a day just to heat. Please help and thank you.

I ordered my Flame King refillable bottles, and refill kit off of Amazon. The kit includes one bottle. bottles can be bought individually, pairs, and a pack of four. Prices can vary so it pays to look around. The Mr Heater refill adapter is really the most economical of the two. It only cost $12 compared to the Flame King refill kit's $65. www.amazon.com/Flame-King-Refillable-Propane-Cylinder/dp/B08NY2TW9P/ref=asc_df_B08NY2TW9P&mcid=49e7ce3b01d83d06a362307a347cf240?tag=bngsmtphsnus-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80676783691795&hvnetw=s&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4584276315908107&th=1 Mr Heater adapter www.amazon.com/Mr-Heater-Propane-Refill-Adapter/dp/B000AMC5WO?th=1

I'm going to follow up here and mention that you cannot use one type of bottles with the other type of refill kit. So you got to make up your mind.

Not really a comparison of two similar products, should be comparing this with the fuel keg system.

Why turn comments off on your other videos??? Serious question..... What is the difference between having a single use propane cylinder for 5 years unused and having one for 5 years that you refilled 3 times ? both have contained the gas for the same length of time the refilled one very likely at a lower pressure for most of its life. Is your theory that the brazing weld will fail due to metal fatigue from the changes of pressure??
@silverstreak232
@silverstreak232 6 месяцев назад
@jakaronoOhno , I turned the comments off because these two particular videos attracted a fair share of people who are referred to as trolls. In the short amount of time since I put these videos out I received a lot of disparaging comments, not people who merely disagree with me. I appreciate differing opinions. I don't appreciate rudeness and such. Anyway, I'm sorry you were disappointed about that. And in my video I explained you do what you choose to do. You're responsible for that. If my demonstration didn't convince you, and If you live in an area where the laws don't prohibit the refilling of the disposable bottles, then the choice is yours. Anyway, Thanks for you feedback. Oh, you mentioned something about pressure remaining constant. Well, no it doesn't 1 lb of propane at 40 deg F is going be at a lower pressuure than 1lb of propane at say 90 deg F. It's the laws of physics. As a rule of thumb liquid propane per weight can vary from 120 psi to 200 psi. like I said it's a general rule of thumb it could be lower or higher depending on ambient temperature. And you mention the brazing. it's definitely no where near as strong as a joint that was electric welded at a much higher temperature. I don't have time to go into all the details. Just imagine how safe our cars would be if the chassis components were brazed.
