I’ve done a fair amount of burning CRP acres and you were correct about adding Diesel. In fact, more Diesel than gas cause it burns longer. Key is when you started you needed to establish a large hot fire at the beginning. Don’t spread it out. Once it’s hot enough, fire will maintain itself and burn down the fence line. Step back from the fire about 15 ft and use the blower to blow oxygen into the fire. Too close and you’ll put it out. Supplement the fire with the torch when needed. It took me a little time and a lot of fuel before I got good at it. It’s still good fun but less frustrating.

Hello to the 3 Amigos and Manageress Ellie ! All you need to do now to clear pens and shutes of snow on handling/ loading days is turn FLAMETHROWER to " low" then apply sand for footing. Haven't been around as been trying to save my own small farm from being repossessed/ carpet bagged by my BANK !!!!!! As Bob Dylan sang " The times they are a changin' !" That flame thrower is pretty cool. I'm glad you are on to the leaf blower trick. Both my sons are rural firefighters and the main way to fight a fire according to them is not water but just blow it out with skilled leaf blower action. I hope you can keep a leaf blower in all your cabs while doing field work to deal with the steel blade-rock-spark-fire issue!

Mist or sprinkle those weeds with a bit of diesel before turning on the flame thrower. Misting or sprinkling from the top down should get the weed seeds nice and toasty. 👍😊

OOooo, I would not have left a seed un toasted!! I would have been frying them late into t he night. Or until the diesel ran out. I definitely think that diesel would be best. Back in my EARLY weed burning days, gasoline was 25 cents a gallon and kerosene was 15 cents a gallon. I opted for the kerosene for sure. LOL I just tilted the can and tried to keep ahead of the flame front. Much easier with the kerosene. That flame thrower does look like a fun toy. Must have been terrible to have to WORK with it. Nice to see you all working the bulls. I am glad that Brian pulled the "sway back" out and steered him. I don't like the look of the sway backs either. Thanks for another great video Cole. It was interesting. Wow. Your flame thrower did a great job on the weeds. The extra tank was definitely a help to you. You gave them a good burn and ran the disk over them so it looked like the ground was black to me. Believe you prevented any fire from happening in the field. After you ran the disk over that fence line it looked pretty clean of weeds I believe. Nice work Cole and Brian. Big worry was a fire but you got that prevented with the disk. Thanks. Use a mix of gas and used oil this burns longer and the oil sticks to the plant. Used this when clearing up thickets on our property.

Cole we use the same thing for burning fence rows we mix 50 percent diesel and 50 percent used motor oil its thicker and stick to the plant longer for burning

Cole, it's pretty obvious you've learned a few things from your Pop in your twenty-some years of hanging around and he's been a pretty good teacher. One thing you might need a little more edumication on however, is being very careful in conversation to not leave him any more wide open territory for comebacks like the "handsome/arrogant" shot at the scale. He fired that off without so much as a hitch in his giddyap. Funniest damn thing I've heard in a while. Also, I would agree that the "grins per gallon" ratio in the therapy session with your "leetle friend" went up quite a bit with the bigger magazine. Tammy catches you with that weapon you'll be the newest Hunka, Hunka burnin' love. Just try not to use it indoors, though. Jack L.

Tape some pipe foam around that end. Welcome to rec. ag burning. Drip torch and Rx burn we use 1 gas to 3 diesel unless it is below 20F then 1gas to 2 diesel. Join your local Prescribed burn assoc.. PBA.

It was that way with Caseys on the eastern part of the state too, two in most towns. Now it's nothing to see a Caseys on one side of town and a Kwik Star on the other or within a block of each other. One thing I find funny in all the places Dollar General is. Every little bump (almost literally) in the road no matter what state you are in. :>)

Kosha burns like paper….In Wyoming burning fields we used propane torches…within seconds the whole field was burned…but you were just burning fence rows…

Always nice to see videos with the cattle, in this case, the bulls, being worked. If they could, I'm sure the boys would tell you they appreciate the baby powder. Any chance I could borrow your flame thrower for my next camping trip? Should make starting the campfire a breeze:)
