Stock distributor will work fine. Ive actually made my own flame kits before where you splice into the coil negative on an hei chev distributor. When you want to light it up you cut the coil neg from the hei coil and send it to an auxiliarry coil for the exhaust, works just like the one in the video....
Pretty simple, first warm it up, exhaust pipes have to be hot or it will not atomize the fuel and basically you will foul your spark plug in your pipe. Once it's hot, rev it up, the more R's the better but within reason, lol. Once it's up to a desired high rpm, you push the button, this cuts the ignition coil and turns on the exhaust side, as soon as you push the button, pump the gas pedal as fast as you can until the car almost dies, then stop and let go of the button so it stays running. The pumping of the throttle pedal is where you get your bigger flame, as while you are pumping the pedal you are pumping fuel into the engine with the accelerator pump. If you don't pump it , it will make a smaller blue flame......
@@rottersgarage that makes sense. When you get a chance can you make a video showing that? I’d love to see your technique. That’s genuinely cool how it works.
Because it was Wednesday when i shot this video, small town, they blow the thing every Wednesday at 11:30 to test it, literally 100 feet from the side of my shop. Rattles the place pretty good.
Honestly Jason, you can make this kit yourself with a simple relay. I'll try to make a video on it in a month or two. Or go to rotter's hot rods and fab on Facebook and message me, I'll send you a diagram... Cheap and easy....
The actual exhaust on the car was bent up out of 2 1/2 inch aluminized pipe. Has a welded up Y pipe, single exhaust out that passenger side quarter panel. Nothing fancy.... All homemade....m
@@EbolaSquirrel no it doesn’t. When you flip the switch it cuts the power to the coil so your engine starts stalling and then you pump the gas to load the system with raw fuel. Then you let it rev up again and push the button to ignite said burnt fuel. Your exhaust wouldn’t have enough raw fuel to ignite like this alone 🤦♂️
