I'm planning to buy a classical guitar, but for now I have an acoustic one and what I'm learning doesn't sound bad but I think it's much different on a classical one🎸🎉
You definitely need a guitar with nylon strings because when you do the rasgues which is when we hit our nails against the strings that is bad for your nails and just doesn’t sound right either… You can get nylon string guitars that have the same string spacing as a steel string acoustic (that means the strings will be a little bit closer together than a traditional classical guitar)… I like the Classical Guitar guitar 52 mm spacing though I think it feels better in the left hand…

Beautiful . May I ask why the capo is so common in flamenco music? Is there a recommended specific type? Your Farucca tutorial was my point of entry into your channel . I was hooked by the sound , groove, feel etc .
Hi George, the capo (Cejilla in Spanish) is used traditionally to change the key of the guitar to suit the voice of the singer you're accompanying - female singers generally sing at very high cejilla positions i.e. at the 5th and 7th fret for styles such as buleria and solea and male singers at lower positions. Over time, singers have become more formally trained in voice control and can choose capo positions wherever they choose to sing for a given style (palo). I'd go for a Dunlop capo - nothing special and does the job. Traditional cejillas from my grand-parents time are a pain to do during a busy gig! Hope that helps.
@@Tomatito1981 Cheers . That is very helpful indeed. The combination of capo and low action is very appealing. I was trying to see if there were any short scale flamenco guitars on the market. I supposed this type of guitar is already smaller in body than a classical? All I can get here in the UK with ease are Cordoba, Yamaha or Alvarez flamenco guitars. Do you have any views on these makes.? As a mandolin player - I sometimes struggle with a steel string dreadnought and am better with a parlor size guitar for long bouts of playing. Over here short scale is usually assumed to be for kids and of poor quality,. I love the sound of big open chords but have wondered why I like to play with a capo on fret 2 to 4 -for finger picking - its all about scale length for me. I was pleased to see from the tutorials that many flamenco chords not only sound good but (shapewise) are manageable for me. I like capos (shorter scale) but need to avoid full barre chords where possible. (pain) . Lastly, do flamenco guitars have a narrower nut width than classical guitars.? If not, what do you think of "fusion" or thin line nylon guitars for this type of music? Thank you
It’s in the key of A minor, even though it’s 2 frets higher (technically B minor), we as guitarists think of it as A minor and name notes and chords accordingly
