Flames burn historic Tustin hangar 

I'm not buying it someone started that fire. They wanted those hangers out to build more homes. NOW they will rip them down.

I have lived in Tustin for 30 years. So sad. Suspicious as they are crazy building around that area. Expensive homes.

This makes me so sad. I grew up seeing these two hangars since the fifties. We are losing our historic landmarks. I’m not surprised one catches fire in the middle of the night. Now the developers can build more apartments. Disgusting.

The big money people are going to get their way after-all. Now they can build the high density housing they desire.

What a loss. I worked out of these hangars when I was an enlisted Marine 88-91. When we worked night crew, we’d sneak up the stairs all the way to the roof and watch those big wildfires at night.

oh my god i cant beleive this i have lived here my whole life and i allways liked driving by to see the view and now one is missing i cant beleive this this is one of the most iconic sights to see in the santa ana tustin area wow im in complete shock this is really sad

I was stationed there from 1972 to 1975. We MCC 3, were in hanger number 2, and later moved to a different building across the base. The movie Zeplin was filmed at hanger number 1 with George C Scott. I still remember how it felt to walk around the hanger and how massive it was. goodyear did maintenance on their blimps in hanger number 2. I have a lot of memories of that base. Sorry to see it go!

Sad to see the historic hangars burning . I was stationed at nearby MCAS El Toro 1982-84 . Driving onto LTA Tustin the first thing the you saw was those massive hangars

It used to be really nice there. Then they overbuilt. It will be interesting to see if we hear who is behind this. If it goes silent I think I know.

It was a very sad day when one of my sons called me to let me know one of the hangers was burning. I worked in those hangers from July 1968 until January 31st 1972, while I was serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. The hangers were a big part of my life when I stationed at the Marine Corp Air Station, Santa Ana, LTA (Lighter Than Air) base, as it was called in the late 60s and early 70s. I worked on both the CH-53 and CH-46 as an aircraft structural machanic, and as a jet mechanic and crewchief on the CH-46. I had well over 1000 flight hours in the CH-46 aircraft when I left the Marine Corp, on 31 January 1972.

It is a great loss for the history of the city and the county, but it is a good gain for the builders who have already had their eye on those lands. (0 years there they stand still and suddenly with a drone they set fire to it??? or who came in to provoke it? Millions of dollars in profit per month in apartment rentals are at stake.

I'm heart broken, that was a safe place for me,the abuse I'm sick,I would go there and just look at the beauty and I was happy,just heart broken 😢😢

I’m not gonna be surprised to see this as arson, sad to lose one of these.

It has been 24 years ago in Summer 1999, Tustin Marine Corps Air Station closed down on July 2nd.

Well Well Well.. Now instead of paying millions of dollars for demolishing a building filled with hazardous materials. They get the insurance money AND sell the property to developers. Brilliant!

The builders of Hawaii are also happy... How much would they pay to obtain that juicy business... now history does not matter to them because of their thirst and hunger for dollars, they are miserable people, who will rot in hell; with their millions, and families paying expensive monthly payments to please these rogues. What the research says. And those of us who were present saw how the firefighters were spraying empty areas, and not in the flames. Ridiculous.

Los constructores de Hawaii también están contentos… Cuánto pagarían por obtener ese jugoso negocio… ahora no les importa la historia por su sed y hambre de dólares, son gente miserable, que se pudrirá en el infierno; con sus millones, y familias pagando costosas cuotas mensuales para complacer a estos pícaros. Lo que dice la investigación. Y los que estábamos presentes vimos como los bomberos estaban fumigando zonas vacías, y no sobre las llamas. Ridículo.
