Have a nice day! More enlightening video, thank you David and happy Sunday ,I also have several editions of this album, the cover has always fascinated me. As a kid I didn't understand what a photo that didn't represent the Flaming Star movie was about, then I saw Stay away Joe and I understood. A record that I listen to often, without obligation

The first copy I owned of "Flaming Star" was the reissue with the different cover along with "Please Don't Stop Loving Me" which were both issued together in 1979, the first album I heard was my mum's "Pot Luck" and the first album I bought with my own pocket money was "From Elvis Presley Boulevard" followed by the Camden album "Easy Come, Easy Go" it's funny how you remember these things, thanks for the video

I know the cover you mean. I used to have that one. I'm not 100% sure which Elvis album I bought first. I think it was G.I. Blues. When I had the money to buy an LP for the first time, my mum persuaded me to buy a Beach Boys compilation. I loved it. Still do. Once I was able to buy LPs, I started to collect them quickly and had a decent collection in no time. Thanks for watching!

Hi dave great piece this av always had an affinity to the flaming star album ,like you it was one o the first albums a bought along with ,let's be friends and almost in love.,they were all a could afford,a was 10 years old in 1970 ,a had a paper round ,and pocket money from me mam n dad went on these albums,a had a copy of the US singer album some years back but not now ,these Camden albums had some great tracks on them ,a remember the first time a seen the flaming star album cover a thought how could someone look that good ,a think too much monkey buissiness was the best track by far altho a didnt dislike any of them ,EL covered a few chuck Berry cuts ,this one was great as was memphis tennesee and promised land an underrated track from the 70s for me ,a had most o the Camden albums over the years including the rare export ,you'll never walk alone ,a liked ya copies of flaming star here the US singer copy apparently is supposed to be quite rare a believe ,but a loved the last you featured the japanese copy ,that was nice ,take care dave ,all the best tony 👍

Yes, it's a classic Elvis cover. I feel like I've always known it. For me, the early Camdens were the best, as they had either unreleased tracks or ones that had been deleted. The last ones seemed a bit cynical to me, the ones with a recent single and a few seemingly random movie songs that had all been on albums before. They're okay to collect, though, and when they're your first albums, you don't know any different. I love all of Elvis' Chuck Berry covers. Johnny B. Goode is another, of course. He wrote some classics did Chuck. Glad Elvis didn't do My Ding-a-Ling though. Cheers, Tony.

🤣🤣🤣 defo agree with that dave ,it's amazing tho that all the rock classics chuck berry wrote and recorded his only no 1 was my ding a ling a novelty number ,and a bit o trivia for u dave ,you may know already ,my ding a ling kept burning love off the no 1 spot in US in 1972 it stalled at no 2 ,it was a top ten in the UK a think am right in saying it stalled at 9 in the UK ,a love burning love its underrated for me it reminds me of ELs sun output ,lots o echo ,great guitar riffs ,its rumoured he didn't like it him self dont know if that's true ,but it should o been a no 1 all day long for me ,take care dave 👍

I saw another Singer copy here in Japan recently with the bonus photo. They were asking $100 for it which seemed a lot to pay just for the photo so I passed. Good luck finding a copy of the LP.

Great video, good album too always wished it had a few more tracks on it. First full album I ever heard was Good Times, still holds a place in my heart. Love the picture label on that one series - very cool. Now to get Too Much Monkey Business out of my head ;)
@ElvisPresleyInJapan
@ElvisPresleyInJapan 2 года назад
Yes, I was thinking about why the budget LPs are so short. They're all about the same length as the World's Fair and Roustabout albums, i.e. barely 20 minutes. It might be because by keeping them shorter, they can keep the royalty payments lower. One of the most bizarre ones was the Pickwick copy of Frankie and Johnny with about nine songs from the soundtrack and 1970s live shots on the cover. If you've still got Monkey Business in your head, I hope it's playing at the right speed 😁

@@ElvisPresleyInJapan Nothing personal my friend but I did switch to Elvis's version and put it on repeat to get out of my system LOL. You have a very good point on the number of tracks vs royalties, that would make sense on RCA's part. I have the 1975 Canadian album Frankie and Johnny on vinyl, what an oddball release. Also have a late 80s budget release on CD that has nine tracks. With my OCD that drives me nuts 8 tracks, 10 tracks etc, at least land on an even number... 🙂

I had a Camden LABEL release of ELVIS SINGS FLAMING STAR, but being the dum dum that I am I sold it back in the early 80's. But now have it on CD, still play it often. My first album of ELVIS was SEPARATE WAYS , still have it. Didn't even know it was a budget album I was 9 or 10 years old , I just thought it was a regular release. To be that young and naive again lol.

@ElvisPresleyInJapan 2 года назад
In the UK, we got a different cover for Separate Ways. It had a photograph of a highway behind Elvis. The US cover was better, if anything. You're right, people don't know they're budget albums when you buy or receive them when you're young. Most of them are fine albums though. Thanks for your support.

This album was the first album ever to release a track from the 1968 Elvis comeback special Tiger Man as a sort of preview but was never released on the original album
@ElvisPresleyInJapan

It was a good choice too. Then they went and left it off the first version of the special itself.

Hei, David! A great example what a difference an OBI makes. Without it a Japanese pressing "becomes just an album". I'm not familiar at all with this movie or its soundtrack but it was great to see some different pressings. Actually the first ever LP that I voluntarily bought with my own money was The '56 Sessions Vol. 1 by Elvis. I still have it but unfortunately I don't remember the year when I bought it. Must have been 1980 or 1981. I'm not 100 % sure if that was the first ever Elvis record that I never heard. In 1979 my Mum was in England had she brought some 2LP Elvis compilation album. I don't remember its title but it's still at my Mum's house. I think I should listen to it... Around the same time one of my then classmates was a big Elvis fan. I think even back then when we were like 9 to 10 years old kids, he had about over 30 different Elvis LPs. I think that's where I got the idea to buy an Elvis LP. Have a scary Halloween, Jarkko/MyVinylBar
@ElvisPresleyInJapan
@ElvisPresleyInJapan 2 года назад
Ah, yes, the '56 Sessions. They were great albums in their time. Mono. Lots of songs. Nice glossy covers. '80 or '81 sounds about right. I bought it around the same time. Your friend had a lot of albums for a kid. I didn't even buy my first record until I was about 12 and it was singles for the first couple of years or so. No scary stories this Halloween. I didn't even notice it was Oct. 31 until the day was almost over. If your mum was in England in 1979, my guess is she bought Elvis' 40 Greatest. Great set. Have a great week.

Hi, I’ve always loved this album, and the original movie was one of Elvis’s best acting roles, I had the original UK vinyl, and now have the cd version, also what a great cover the album has! My first Elvis album I ever heard and bought was G I Blues in 1960, I was 15 years of age, and had just left school, in Liverpool UK, and started my first job! Cheers mate, stay well

Yes, it's a great cover. It could have been the first photo I ever saw of Elvis. G.I. Blues, eh? You must have been around just at the point when Elvis got really, really popular in the UK. I think I got my first copy of G.I. Blues through a catalogue and I paid it off weekly. Cheers, Mal.

Great to see all of the different ones that you have on this Album and I sure do like Imports a lot!!! The UK and the Australian one's wow nice and a great looking book O and I did like your fast and slow part's. On the Japan copy did it have an Obi on the side of it???. I do have the first one that dose have the Seer on it and you know that is still hard to find in the US:"). As for me I think .... My first one was Moody Blue or This is Elvis both on vinyl. Well done video you on this video all the best to you, my friend!!!!!

you had far too much fun with the singing! Always enjoy seeing different releases of one album. I got this one a bit later as I never saw it in the record shops in the mid-70s, it was the same with the Let's Be Friends album. I got US Male, Separate Ways and I Got Lucky first. Crazy thing about the Flaming Star release was that it had 3 previously unreleased tracks on it.
@ElvisPresleyInJapan
@ElvisPresleyInJapan 2 года назад
Yes, I couldn't help thinking of Graham Chapman when I was editing. "Stop that. It's silly!" By the way, I thought all the tracks were unreleased at the time except Flaming Star. Like you, I never saw the "cowboy" cover in stores when I was buying records back then and I ended up buying one with a different cover (Clambake-era photo). I had to order Let's Be Friends and Almost in Love from America. Thanks for watching!

My first albums were Separate Ways and You'll Never Walk Alone for Christmas in the mid-70's.I think they were about 99p from Woolworths.I may be wrong about this but the thickness of the cardboard of album sleeves was due to transportation and handling so the further the distance the more robust the sleeve had to be.Well that's my theory anyway.
@ElvisPresleyInJapan
@ElvisPresleyInJapan 2 года назад
A lot of people started off with Camden albums. They get some criticism but they're a gateway to more of his music and there are plenty of great tracks on them. I'm not sure about the sleeve theory. Certainly in Japan the changes were sudden and across the board. All covers up to 1968 are really thin. Then they used thick card until the '80s and finally went back to thin card again. Thanks for watching!
