By now, most of Angelina's fans know the story behind this, but for anyone that is unaware of the context and importance of this performance: The video starts by saying that Angelina is there to honor a cause, and for that reason she performed this song with especial reverence to the honoree and her family. Narges Mohammadi is in prison for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran. She is currently on a hunger strike and refuses to appear in court at her own trial which she considers illegitimate. What is truly disturbing is that she was sentenced to a total of 31 years and 154 lashes. She is on trial again for the things she has been saying while in prison, including the speech she wrote for her children to read at this event. There are three things that make it particularly significant: Angelina is Norwegian and Norway is the home of the Nobel Peace Prize; her grandmother is Iranian; and Unchained Melody was written about a prisoner longing to be reunited with a loved one. It must be especially heart wrenching for Angelina, given her Iranian heritage and her empathy for the disadvantaged and downtrodden. It is even harder on Narges' husband and her two children, who are the same age as Angelina and received the award on behalf of their mother.

This is Angelina's second performance for the Nobel Ceremony. Not gonna go into it because I will type a paragraph here but the only thing I can say is look at who is getting the big numbers and biggest views, the garbage and the ones promoting what is bad to society. Angelina might be the girl who will save society from the bad artists out there. She won't give up, she doesn't care for the numbers as long as she sings the right songs in a right and good manner and promote goodness. Angelina is continuing what other Legends started. All hail ANGELINA JORDAN. move over one trick ponies. We fans tell people Angelina can sing it all however she wants in every style. Compare this to OUR TIME or NOW IM THE FOOL. In a way like BTS genre are irrelevant to Angelina. Unless you have watched a considerable portion of Angelinas back catalogue you really have no idea. Fans seem like they exaggerate with the superlatives ...but they really don't. It just that she is the most predictably unpredictably brilliant artist who never shows off every tool in her toolbox. Like her costume for this Angelina displays a nordic sensibility. An elegance of discrimination. Showing only what is needed to evoke the emotion and tell the story of a song. She is a consumate artist whose ego is sacrificed for the music. Angelina is most admired by vocalists and musicians. Vocalists like That Singer Reacts who call her a STAR VOCALIST ie. a star amongst other vocalists, and rates her vocal capabilities above greats like Adele. Quincy Jones called her the best child singer since Michael Jackson, and Queen admired her Bohemian Rhapsody arrangement so much they gave her the copyright to that arrangement ..... so why is the industry itself suppressing her. Unless you already are subscribed to her she is rarely offered on UTube. Most new fans are found because people are asking reactors to react to her. Very little radio play. Maybe they don't want real talent shading their factory produced pap. Look what happened with BTS. When the public actually get to hear something good, who else has a chance? That's why we have to keep streaming ANGELINA.

This song was written in 1955 for a movie involving people held in prison, missing their lover (or something like that). The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian, current held in prison in Iran for advocating for women's rights. She has been sentenced to 31 years and 154 lashes. Her husband, and two children were in attendance at the award ceremony. Angelina chose this fitting song. Let us not lose sight of the fact that AJ's grandma Mery is Iranian, and thereby so is Angelina. She gave her heart and soul in this performance for obvious reasons.

Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian. We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change. In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

Her voice has grown up. It has something more. i’m 72. I was in the eighth grade when two high schoolers, the good looking boys all the girls were crushing on stood on the stage and sang this.

Like you, I loved this song sung by the Righteous Brothers and played throughout the film Ghost, it's been covered by quite a few, but this arrangement by Angelina is by far my favourite. while listening to her singing this in front of the children of that poor woman imprisoned in Iran for speaking up for women's rights, it just breaks my heart! An example for others to aspire to, for sure. Here is a little more information on this event and so on that I have prepared. This ceremony is always held here in Norway, and she flew in from LA to perform in her home country. The Nobel Peace Prize is one of 5 Nobel Prizes awarded every year for worthy recipients. The peace prize recipients are nominated and chosen by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, appointed by the Parliament of Norway, as per the will of Alfred Nobel, the Swedish founder of the event. He was a Swedish chemist, engineer and inventor and was the one who invented dynamite. Not very peace-like, but still. The Nobel prizes have been awarded for the last 122 years, starting in 1901. This year's prize was awarded to women's rights advocate Narges Mohammadi from Iran for her work in fighting against the oppression of women in Iran. All the performers in the event were from Iran or had Iranian descent. Angelina's grandmother Mery Zamani was born in Iran, and so I can imagine that performing here meant a LOT for Angelina and her family. Narges was sentenced to 31 years in jail and I believe 154 lashes. If you look up the lyrics and the story behind the song, you will understand that it was a beautiful choice for the occasion, and the lyrics may very well be interpreted as being told by Narges herself, and/or her family, which she hasn't seen in many years. Her son and daughter live in France, and they came to Norway to receive the prize in their mother's place. All in all this was an extremely beautiful performance, one which suits Angelina perfectly, as she has helped raise millions of dollars through the years for various charity events, and she has even been seen in the streets of LA, helping underprivileged people. A tradition that she carries on from her childhood, where her Japanese grandfather and husband to her Iranian grandmother could be seen in the streets of Oslo, the capital of Norway, doing the same deeds. As an example, she donated the 50.000 USD that she got for winning Norway's Got Talent when she was 8, to charity. And also, she always performs barefeet to remind herself of an encounter she had with a girl from the Middle East when she was 6 years old, who was weighing people on the streets to make a living for her and her siblings, as they had no parents and were homeless. The girl had scarry feet and had no shoes, so Angelina gave her shoes to the girl. She later wrote a book about this encounter, called "Between Two Hearts", and became Norway's youngest published author at age 9. If you pay close attention, you will see that Angelina was yet again performing barefoot, staying true to herself in remembrance of the girl she met.
