I know I'm not the only one and I can say without any doubt, thousands of us hum this song to ourselves during the day. I can picture her singing and believe me when I tell you, none of us miss a note! And let's give a nice 'thank you' to the orchestra who complimented Angelina perfectly. Aaliyah, it's okay to bow to Angelina. What she can do with her voice and artistry is so out-of-this-world you are not alone. Many, many people in the industry are in total awe of her. Regardless of my musical background, I know what I love to hear and I love to hear Angelina. In 2014, a little Norwegian girl was named and codified, a national treasure by both the King of Norway and the prime Minister. That same year, she sang for the Nobel peace prize winners all at the age of 8. In 2023, that same girl, now almost 18 once again graced the Nobel peace prize stage and sang for the recipient once again. That young girl is none other than Angelina Jordan. Angelina Jordan made history with this performance. Angelina is the only solo singer under the age of 18 to have performed twice at the Nobel peace prize concert. When I learned the story of Narges Mohammadi, this years recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, and the history of the song "Unchained Melody", I fully understood why Angelina Jordan chose this song. Great reaction! Angelina and KORK(Norwegian Radio Orchestra) just did a magnificent rendition of Unchained Melody! The perfect song for Narges Mohammadi Nobel Peace Prize! Third time with KORK, she did Back to Black and Summertime when she was 10! Has been invited twice to Nobel Peace Prize, previously appeared when she was eight! And let’s not forget Angelina’s Iranian heritage and Oslo is her hometown! Narges is in jail for leading the fight for women’s rights in Iran! At the end Angelina puts her hand over her heart acknowledging Narges children who were on stage and happen to be Angelina’s age and are living in exile in France! It’s nice to see someone with a trained classical voice recognize the phenomenal control Angelina has over her vocal cords and also her amazing breath control that enables her to sing any genre of music from jazz to country to gospel to pop to movie themes to rhythm and blues to classical (Song for A by Nico Cartosio), just like one of her idols, Elvis Presley. In fact, some have started referring to her as the female Elvis Presley. Not a bad icon to be whom to be compared.

The ability this girl has to captivate and move the people who listen to her is absolutely incredible, as is her sensitivity in choosing and interpreting the song for this ceremony. This performance of hers is charming and wonderfully intimate, she made this legendary song perfectly suited for the occasion of the tribute to Narges Mohammadi's story! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way 7 years after the last time and in the same studio and certainly also with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps towards his musical future. Here Angelina was simply fantastic and "unchained", probably the only singer who at only 17 years old has already sung on 2 different occasions at the celebrations of Nobel Prizes.💛🧡❤

What a great cover. This song always brings me back to the movie "Ghost," of course, with Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers singing that version. I was today years old when I found out that this song was made for a movie called "Unchained," hence the name "Unchained Melody." According to Wikipedia. Don't know too much about Angelina Jordan other than what I've seen on your channel, but she has a lovely voice. Enjoyed it and, as always, great reaction.

Great to have you back reacting to Angelina Jordan again, Aaliyah. Thanks for posting about Narges Mohammadi in your description. Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges was, at the time of this tribute, on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian. We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change. In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time". "Unchained Melody" comes from the film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

I loved watching that reaction Aaliyah, you have such a gorgeous expressive face :) Angelina is worth a study and is an inspiration to every singer, I think. You are an amazing singer yourself too and that gives weight to your words. Yes Angelina took a risk when she came in high and soft at the end there, the voice can easily break up and that would have been a small disaster, really. Beautiful choice , this was the first time I had to keep pausing watching your content on your channel ,it just kept on making me take a deep breath to not tear up . This is the best rendition of this song I’ve heard and witnessed. The orchestra, soft touch of specific instruments , voice breath just right in the right places , just everything . I'm glad to hear you verify, as An Actual Singer, what I've said in the past about how pulling back on that final high note and singing it quieter actually makes it harder to pull off. (I'm not a singer myself, but I've learned a few things from my own attempts to sing along with Angelina over the years. Not that I can sing this one anywhere near as well as she does!) She first sang this song publicly on a TV talk show called _Lindmo_ (named after the host) when she was 9 (almost 10). In that performance, she didn't quite "nail the dismount" as she lost the note right at the end, just as she stopped vocalizing. Here that didn't happen, of course, but you could hear that she was at least flirting with that possibility. I think she could easily have "played it safe" and not pulled back quite so much, but presumably that would have sacrificed too much of the emotion. As usual (ISTM), Angelina opted for getting the feeling right over simply singing the notes perfectly. (BTW, I think that long, held note at the beginning of the final word, "me", is one of the most beautiful notes I've ever heard. I like how the orchestra went silent to spotlight that moment.) That talk show appearance at 9 is well worth reacting to, BTW. Hearing the same song performed at a much younger age (see ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wPfMzMeBLbo.html ) would, I think, be interesting for you, and the interview portion ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--cCLDY0CSZ8.html which immediately followed the song) might be even more impactful.

If you haven’t heard her before you should check Sissel Kyrkjebo another Norwegian Soprano, I would recommend starting with her version of Pie Jesu, there are many beautiful voices out there but Sissel is a cut above, the clarity is on another level, truly Angelic.

A great song to react to is a orchestral death metal band called Fleshgod Apocalypse and a great song would be “No” though it does have some swearing, the mixture between the orchestra and the guitars are absolutely flawless. They also make orchestral instrumentals for most of their songs. You will be pleasantly surprised if you check that out.
