ROQ's new ROQ Dry Run make's flashing faster and safer. bit.ly/ROQDryRun
Flashing, it's an essential part of screen printing, and with the traditional technology and budget in a manual or small auto print shop most start and grow with infra red flash dryers. Infra red flash work well to start, BBC has the best heating panel in the market, vs entry level coil unit the IR panel that BBC makes gives good heat and flashes relatively fast, but screen printers, Remember this 700-900 degree element is ALWAYS on thus opening the door to several big quality and hazardous issues we want to help you avoid.
Problem One
Since flashes are always on they create heat, and when there is heat a humans natural tendency is to get read of it which means the possibility of fans, open doors, etc, these outside factors create air movement in your shop shifting the radiant heat under your flash and creating an inconsistent result, one shirt may not flash at all, one shirt may scorch, and you don’t know until you touch it, which is what most printers do to test opening up for ink on hands if flashed too short and even a burned finger or too if flashed too long. Neither of these advantageous for printer or production
Problem Two
FIRE HAZARD, yes every IR flash is a fire hazard in every shop because when left on can burn a shirt, a platen and god forbid, a shop down. It happens.
Problem 3
Power, Since the flash is always on, its always pulling power, this means your shop electric bill is always working when the flash is on.
Does an IR flash work, yes, can it work effectively and safely, yes, but there is an easier way.
Larger shops with bigger budgets use quartz flashes almost exclusively. A quartz flash uses special infrared quartz bulbs that heat up in a matter of seconds creating the same amount of heat that a IR flash does in a fraction of the time, when they are done, guess what, they turn off. No burning the shop down. These flashes are typically triggered by automated equipment integration, a sensor that senses the movement of the platen under it, or a foot pedal that triggers the action.
So whats the downside, it's the cost, A small Quartz flash costs 10x the price of a small IR flash and essentially at the end of the day, it does the same thing. Also a lot of them only work with the presses they were designed for.
With these problems in mind, our ROQ team in Portugal went to work to create the ROQ Dry Run Quartz flash and in the next video I’m going to show you how the dry run can safely change the game for your shop, future proof your operation, and be with in the budget of almost anyone.
