Ed you are one of the very few that explains things in plain English. All of your samples and explanations are precise and to the point, any person that watches your videos will be able to takeaway very good educational information on various lighting setups that they can practise for themselves and see the results. Great tutorials very easy to understand and no useless babel like some use to make they'er videos look worthwhile. Please keep up the excellent work. Ed

You’ve done it again! Another instructional masterpiece! Every thing was perfectly explained with wonderful examples. You don’t have to spend a fortune for any strobes, either mono blocs or speedlights to get everything you need. My only 'problem' is having to manually adjust my monos, but I can take my time and set up one light at a time as I mainly shoot still life and corporate headshots for the charity I’m involved with. I also have a friend who helps me. They were cheap and have lasted me about 4 years up to now, and no one has ever said to me "I can tell you use cheap lights”. If I need HSS, ETTL, FCS, RCS, Multi or a flash with a t1 duration of 1/8000 (I’ve never needed it even for pouring drinks shots) I have my speedlights. There are some very inexpensive speedlight modifiers like Selens usually give good quality. I think MagMod etc are overpriced for most people’s needs, but the cheapest, especially filters, can give strange anomalies. You are a great photographer, far better than I could hope to be, but you are an exceptional instructor and educator. There are people on RU-vid who don’t have a tenth of your knowledge and talent charging for less than you have given for free today. Jay P Morgan from Slanted Lens has also done a great free course on light, but that’s more about the cube, cylinder and ball approach and understanding the theory of light. May I wish you and yours a very merry Christmas and a brilliant 2019. Most of all though thank you for all your brilliant, informative, thought provoking videos over the last year. Your channel is pure photography all about the image which is quite refreshing at times. And thank you for replying to so many of my over long comments!
This is so so so much informative for someone like me who is just getting into portraits photography and is on budget and wants to get professional results using only small speedlites. Thank You so much sir for such a great tutorial. Learned alot from this today. Edit - I really hope this video gets a million views and I am eagerly waiting for part 2 and all the rest of the parts.
Ed, I have been an amateur photographer for 3 decades and have stayed away from anything but natural light and on camera flash (bouncing and diffusing w/reflectors) until recently. I stumbled across your channel when searching for Godox reviews and I have to tell you that I love your content so far. I like your mix of technical but easy to understand content and how you combine it with practical use and implementation. As a contrast, I love Peter McKinnon's channel and his energy but I find his content, although extremely entertaining, usually lacking usable content for my purposes. Keep up the great work!

Unfortunately, I never did find a video that met my needs and I had to learn mostly through trial and error. Still, in this video, you offer a lot of useful tips I never thought of. Thank you!

I am not understanding why somebody disliked his video. if not interested, simply leave it. don't discourage him. if you want to learn the photography from the third party, you may need to spend lots and lots of money to learn from. if it is available on free of cost, then you will dislike it no...

Great job Ed!!! I've been photographing for some odd years now and never was a fan of flash photography. You changed that. Your information and tips are so insightful and easy to follow that I had to grab my camera and flash half way through the video just to experiment. Granted, I'm using a 27 year old Vivitar 283, but it's what I have for now and your video has helped me tremendously. I'm excited about flash photography and never thought I could be. Thank you.
