Flash XM Receivers Without Solder

Thank you so very much for this video! Just got my Geprc Cygnet 3 with XM+ FCC version and needed to flash it to EU. I only removed the top plate of the quad and managed to carefully wiggle those clamps to the already soldered in receiver cable ends and flash it without taking anything apart. The idea of desoldering the receiver for firmware update really wasn't something I would've wanted to do as a first thing to a new bnf quad, so this really, really helped an amateur like me a ton!

Only way I've ever flashed mine since you mentioned it on an old video. Works great!

Andy, so do i need to flash it if I am using a Tarranis x9 lite and the XM + receiver is being sent to the US? Using it for a reptile cinewhoop i just bought with the x9 lite radio. Love these little receivers. Hoping its just plug and play., after soldering the pins up an hooking up to the FC. A step by step computer vid on flashing and transfering/ copying files etc would be great as well. You lost me at transfer this file here and that file there...if possible buddy.

Just ordered one of them through your link, thanks Andy, awesome, just a quick question, once you've got the firmware on your sd card and flashed a receiver do you then need to download the firmware again to flash another receiver or can you re-flash with that same firmware already on the sd card, hope that make sense.

i have d16 d8 an Lr12 i read if you had the three it was fcc firmware on it so i flashed the receiver with fcc fw with the taranis it flashed an now just a red light an for some reason the taranis wont flash it no more i get a firmware update error message i had it in the quad it worked tell the flashed it maybe i moved a lil to much... i dont think so

Andy or anyone who might know something more.....on a quad with XM+ reciever...i just plugged battery to fly and it seems like it lost binding.....this happens for 2nd time...the previous time i reflashed the xm+ for RSSI too and it didnt work immediately..in the 10+nd try after rewriting different firmwares and retrying to rebind etc..it worked...now again with no reason since yesterday i was flying normal without any troubles..i just went to fly and no binding...of course i wouldnt have writen this message ....i already tried to reflash again and rebind more than 10 times....it dont make sense whats going on? any idea?

One last question. Do I set it up in BF as Sbus or Fport ? Thx

Hi Andy I've got a new xm+ from bg which I'm swapping from a x4r, I've already flashed my qx7 to non EU but after binding and connection to bf I'm not getting any stick movement in the receiver tab? Should I still flash it?

U can flash an rsxr with bf? What screen where? Serial passthrough yes but never saw the rx flash screen in bf

Did you say you can flash an XM+ that's already wired to a FC, like an RTF? I've always heard different, but then again I've never tried it myself. Besides checking for shorts, is there anything else you need to do?

Have you ever gotten cam control working on a caddx camera?

Great, thanks ! An hour before you published this video I soldered an XM+ into my quad, and then realized it didn't have RSSI on channel 16 like all the other XM+ I bought 😅 so I will try your method ! By the way, why do you put RSSI on channel 8 instead of channel 16 ?

What if I'm using aux 4, or channel 8? Can I just use channel 9 , aux 5?

Tried to update the FW on my XM+ (brand new) and after hooking up per your video, when I long pressed on the selected FW in the Firmwares folder on the X9D+, the only option I got was DELETE? ... didn't get the options to write etc. On my 1st try, I didn't notice that the order of the Signal, 5+, Com on the XM+ wasn't the same as the order on the X9D+. So, I swapped 2 pins on the servo cable I was using, so that they would match per the video, and still only got DELETE? Hmmmmm ???

AndyRC Great video. I see in the video that you are flashing with a 3s battery in the Taranis. You forgot to mention that it is best to flash with a 2s battery instead of 3s because the 3s voltage will go directly in to the receiver and can fry it. correct me if im wrong with the xm or xm+ but it happend to me so i wanted to let you know!

Your bootloader is 2.1.7....is it aligned with the firmware version ??

Just use the pins supplied and flash with no solider, just tape it in place so the connection does not drop during flash. No need for this malarkey!
