At an October 2008 rally, then-presidential candidate John McCain had to take a microphone from a supporter and tell her that Barack Obama is "a decent, family man."
Wholefoodhoney you think the reaction would be any different if Joe Biden interrupted a supporter who was claiming she doesn’t trust trump only to tell her Donald Trump is a decent family man. These people have been brainwashed by their media streams just like democrat supporters
Yeah, don't agree with him on a lot, but on principles. Principles democracies can't work without and the GOP is sacrificing these principles for their olamb.
You don't know you're in the good old days until they pass. John McCain, Mitt Romney, even George W. Bush to an extent. All decent men with this country's well-being at heart. Now we live in some bizzaro world where everything is pure vitriol and the House is jam packed with legitimate nutjobs.

All the conspiracies and fear mongering brainwashed a shit ton of gullible people and I watched the entire thing go down. It was a snowball effect. I honestly blame Roger Stone the most. That went out the window in 2016.

Yep, I remember reading conservative/Republican sites like FreeRepublic at the time of McCain’s concession (and then Romney’s) and seeing the constant and persistent whining about how the elections were “rigged” and they shouldn’t have admitted the loss. Trump is just a reflection of how insane the Republican base has been for a long, long time now. It’s just the Republican Party leadership used to be able to hide the crazies away - now the crazies run the show.
I had a lengthy political discourse on immigration with Senator McCain on more than one occasion. Even though I disagreed with him on 66% of the issues, his humanity was awe inspiring, and his sincerity was never in doubt. I have never voted Republican, but if he still was around I would. I consider him a great American. His signed picture has the highest point of prominence on our law firm's wall. Regardless of ones' political inclination, no Amercian can doubt his candor and earnest patriotism.
Limewire that doesn’t actually matter, he helped me understand I am not a democrat. He helped me move from the left to the center. He taught me not to vilify the other side. The vote affects a few years, the ideology affects a lifetime. This man is a legend. This man has earned my respect.
@Limewire You summed up pretty well what's wrong with politics. Politicians say what the majority of their voters want to hear. And to keep their voters attention, they move to more extreme 'less nice' opinions.
Aryan Nahar I never said he would’ve been a good president. I just respect that he didn’t lie to his blinded followers to try and win. He respected his opponent.

John McCain was exactly what we need today, a decent, kind upstanding man. Even if people did not agree with his vote on Obamacare, he got up from his hospital bed and voted his conscience. He did not bluster, nor rail about what he did. He voted his mind, what he felt was best for people who needed help. I have a lot of respect for him as a man, but as a politician he was no better than the rest of the GOP. Preaching about greater good to the people and then voting against their interests in favor of advancing a political career. It was painful to see because he seemed like such a great guy. It's interesting because being an "Arab" is an ethnicity which in of itself isn't a bad thing, but the way she conveyed it it sound like she meant "muslim" which isn't a bad thing in itself either. Both Terms are almost synonymous with "Terrorist" in America, even more so back when this was caught, but neither even means close to the word terrorist.
