I like how it shows Spears fathers eyes as red like the Tigers, his dad was more animal than man and Spear inherited all his raw power and primal instincts.
Spear becoming cheif of his people tells me that him, his wife, and his two children were the only survivors left of his tribe. That just proves how savage his home truly was and also how strong and good of a survivor Spear was for being the last survivor of his race and keeping his family safe for as long as he did.
Everyone is talking about how animalistic Spear's father is- can we appreciate how HUMAN and similar to Spear he is? That very brief moment of tenderness between Father and Spear before the attack, and how he was up like a shot from under that smilodon the moment he saw Spear in danger- that felt powerful to me
The father downed 7-8 of them with 1 assist and 3 kills from child spear, if spear was grown had fang and his father plus his children he’d have a terrifying clan.
The other tribe members are a lot more apelike than Spear too, I actually think his mother might have been h. sapiens sapiens instead of neanderthalensis
One thing I don’t think people get about this series. It’s not just about “survival” what makes spear special is that he is a protector. When we went from just surviving at any cost. To protecting the tribe at any cost that’s when we were primal, but had become human. Throughout the series that’s what spear does he protects
I'm not sure why but seeing this comment made me piss my pants laughing. I think it might be because I did not expect to see Boondocks mentioned in the same breath as Primal
TLDR - Apparently the rest of clan lack the basic common sense, self preservation and human instincts required to survive. Spear’s dad had all these things, modern day humans have these things as well. But apparently these humans are the “I made a mistake how do I delete” of evolution because apparently they incapable of basic survival. No wonder they went extinct, Spear and Spear’s dad must have been doing all the hunting and protecting. I don’t think that excuses the entire rest of the clan not doing shit, they may not be Neanderthals but they should still be capable of I don’t know, running away or hiding from the danger? (Didn’t see hardly any of them doing that) Or you know fighting back? You mean to tell me that all of them lost basic survival instincts???? Some of them look more ape then Spears dad and yet they just stand there not even trying? I definitely agree on why they went extinct, because apparently that means that Spear’s dad and possibly Spear, where the only people getting food, defending the clan and in general doing anything useful. What in gods name did any of these people do if they freeze up at the mear sight of danger? I doubt they were very effective at gathering plants or water I’m assuming (If they did that) and they certainly don’t seem smart either. For someone more ape than human Spears dad shows more intelligence (Apparently he’s the only person there who understood that spear=kill and that freeze = bad and literally basic common sense and self preservation), love (His care for spear), dedication (protected everyone), self preservation (I say this because he didn’t lie down and die when things got tough) and determination than the entire can combined.
Right at about 2:30 you can see what’s left of spears dad after the attack. Also the way this group of 5 or so nearly 1000 pound cats attempt to eat the tribe of people alive (which no cat ever does with prey) should tell you how harsh things are not just for humans but predators as well.
Lions commonly eat their prey alive They often don't bother inflicting a neck or spinal wound when in packs So plenty of their prey get eaten while still alive
@@Accountfella8267 You know what I actually forgot about lions but just curious, don’t lions do it for the same reason the sabertooths in the video are, which is because of how competitive it is where they live???
@Jared A. I usually forget that lions do things a bit different from other cats too lol. I don't know the exact reason, so I don't wanna spread misinformation and say that's correct, but it sounds like it could be right.
@@jareda.244 I mean lions are the apex predators of the African savannah so they don't really compete with other predators that much. They literally chase hyenas off their own kills to steal them.
2:32-2:50 In those minutes with a Young Spear victorious for having saved his Tribe but hurt for having lost his Father, we see how the entire Tribe, even without saying words, only with Expressions, show their Pity for Spear for losing his Father, in how they lost their Leader but also Empathy for the Boy in how he now has to be the Leader he was still an Early Age forced to grow up and Lead how to take care of his own The whole Tribe knows they can't cry now, they needed someone to guide them through the Difficult times ahead
@@marianomercado6284 Its still looks like it is some autistic cavemans, no stone throwing or trying to run or even hiding when predators come to eat them alive
Damn, Trini and her sisters ate good but at least Spear’s dad put up a valiant fight. And even as a kid, poor Spear couldn’t escape seeing his family get destroyed.
I think Spear is actually a 50/50 Neanderthal / Homosapien His father is clearly substantially different than the other tribesmen, looking far more animalistic and whatnot- whilst they moreso look like tribal humans. Since Spear's father is portrayed as more animal than man, it would make sense that Spear inherited his animal instincts and rage from his father (who is a Neanderthal), whilst obtaining his human like qualities from his mother (who is likely a Homosapien but not shown in the flashback).
i sometimes wondered why didn't any of the other cave people help fend off the predators? Like I understand it centers around Spear and his past, but idk just felt off to me to not have anyone else try and fight them.
Spear : Wait, we can't co exist and become allies, we can adapt and survive together. We have lost too much and we have so much in common. Let's be civilized and think outside the box for a moment. Spear Dad. *Monkee Ooga Booga*
Spear is actually bigger than his dad i didn’t notice the first time i seen it but spear is just broader when he’s grown his dad had smaller arms I believe.
I love that they added that spear father and a good chunk of his tribe people are homo erectus they all still have their ape like features, fangs, an have more body hair on them. Where spear is the next generation homo neanderthalensis taking on traits that future humans would later have in them.
Redemption for being night feeder slop, and a stuffed figure for educated English dudes to look at. So glad that the smilodon finally got to be shown as the badass killer is/was Also scary because this actually did happen to our early ancestors more often than you’d think.
Our ancestors overcame all living things on the Earth and rose to levels of domination and power never before seen. Earth is too small for us. The rest of the universe is next.
I love how those other grown men popped out of the woodworks (including one armed with a spear) ONLY after child Spear and his dad ÜBERGRÜG fought off that entire pack of smilodons and ÜBERGRÜG got killed. WTF…. They could have assisted
his probably mixed neanderthal with a strain of homo erectus, the biggest homo erectus had twice the bone resistance of ours and were using hand axes to kill larger prey, they killed the biggest mandrils out there 85 kg ones with their hand axes with blows to their heads, their hand axes were for their big hands so even for us are difficult to manage, they dont even used handles.
Rare to see a grimdark *past* . It's cool to see this in contrast to the usual fetishization of the past. I still find it kind of funny that nothing in this world seems to have any sort of self-preservation instincts that IRL cause most skirmishes in the wild to result in a retreat after a few casualties, everything in this universe just fights to the last Ork style!
For why the other tribesmen didn't help, i think the vast majority were old. Let's not forget that's child mortality was far high in the early days of modern and ancient humans, so more likely, spear was the only youngling that made it to puberty, hence the rigorous training that spear dad put him through. There has to be somebody to take the mantle and Protectnthe rest because they are frail but hands that can make clothes, tend wounds, make food and tools for the warriors and hunters to trive and reproduce to make more offspring
Cool thing I noticed is that Speers dad is one of the only members in the tribe with sharp ape like teeth. Speer and everyone else have flat teeth with sharp teeth while sprees dad has mainly sharp teeth with large canines.
