More entertaining than today’s shows

I don’t think anyone that wasn’t around in the 1970s can fully understand just what a huge part of American culture these shows were. Most household only had one television and only three channels to choose from, and of course there was no internet. TV, radio & press was the only media available. People waited all week in anticipation for the continuation of their `story’ and it was the topic of discussion all week long. Those were definitely simpler times.

I grew up in the 70s and watched every program you listed. Some others had fantastic writing and acting. For example, "WKRP in Cincinnati" was about some misfits who worked at a low-end rock 'n roll radio station. My favorite episode was "Turkey's Away," where the station manager tried an unsuccessful promotional campaign using live turkeys. The news announcer, Les Nessman, was at the scene in a grocery store parking lot when he spotted a helicopter coming in his direction. Les sees some objects being pushed out of the helicopter, and he soon realizes it is a flock of turkeys. Pandemonium ensues when Les gives details as if he witnessed the Hindenburg blimp explosion in New Jersey. Turkeys were hitting the parking lot and parked cars like heavy sandbags. After the incident, all the staff met at the station and discussed this total fiasco. At the episode's close, the station manager thought turkeys could fly, and he could not understand why his campaign was an epic failure. That was a hilarious episode.

Being an architect must pay really well. I always wonder how Mike Brady could afford to live in such a nice house, raise six kids AND afford a live-in maid. Since you asked - Sabrina was my favorite from Charlie's Angels, Since you didn't ask - so was Janet from Three's Company. M.A.S.H. was and still is my favorite show for the 70's.
