I have been somewhat vocal in the past about shops taking in data recovery jobs that they are not ready for and how I disapprove of "practicing" on customer boards when you are not ready for that type of job. However, VDD_MAIN shorts are the type of problem that every shop should learn how to do. It is true that newer generation phones have the additional step of learning how to deal with the sandwich, but if you have that under your belt then there is no reason why anyone shouldn't be able to solve a main or boost short. The iPhone X through 11 have low melt solder around the interposer so those models have a lower entry point then the 12 and higher. When working on the 12 and higher, the work becomes more difficult just because it is a bit harder to even separate the sandwich. I still don't believe you should do any data recovery work if you do not have some solid practice and experience under your belt, but these types require less expertise then some other types of problems.
Also, I am not even sure if I want to keep releasing "easy" videos like this one. So let me know what you think about that, and if I should just focus on releasing videos with harder problems or if you think this easier type of problem solving is still beneficial.
Thanks for watching!
