Gibson63 you’re the man I hope to replicate your work one day on my 65 . I painted the inside of my turn signals gloss white and it helped with the brightness
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. My trucks been sitting and rotting for years because I was intimidated by the level of work and all the layers of metal in the various panels. Thanks to you, I know better what to look out for as I proceed. Being in hot humid lower SC, everything is rusted except for the glass. I WILL share your channel with everybody !!!!
Can see that's a dealer rear bumper which a lot of dealers sold, because as I recall, in these years, a rear bumper was an option on pickup trucks unless they were a deluxe model. Very nice work you've done to preserve this truck. Congrats.
That's a dealer installed aftermarket rear bumper, I used to install them back in the early 80's when I worked for a Chevrolet Dealership. They all had the Dealership name imprinted on bumper. Looking good
Lookin' really good. Spring can't come fast enough where we are. Your videos have given us alot of great ideas on how to do our restoration. We're itchin' to get going again. Thanks & keep them coming.
Do you ever feel like you created a monster with this channel? We’re all like a bunch of crack addicts out here and you’re the dealer. Can’t get enough. That truck is so fine! Your dad is gonna be struttin’ in that thing!
If anyone cares... Most of these trucks were delivered new without rear bumpers. Yes there were some that came from the factory with the chrome "fleetside" rear bumper, but these were not the norm. Most often, the trucks delivered without rear bumpers had a dealer installed add-on bumper, like the one in this video installed at the dealer. There were also aftermarket bumpers that were installed which were almost identical. Both the dealer add-on and the aftermarket bumpers were usually built by a local company that made them, these were commonly called "farmer's bumpers" because they are the ones that usually bought them. There are a number of different styles of these bumpers, but almost all looked similar.
I’ve really enjoyed the progress on this truck and the challenges it’s given. You’ve done a fantastic job in keeping an old truck the road with your skills and speedy workmanship.
Fantastic job, thank you for taking the time to make videos and post them, I'm sure you could have finished this project sooner if you weren't messing with a camera but I'm glad you did. Awsome truck brother. I start my '68 tomorrow, hopefully it turns out half as nice as yours did.
Good effort mate. Wish you did the video of the indicator switch a few months back when I was struggling with it haha The last thing I need to do to mine is the wood and chrome strips in the bed. I’ll wait for you to bring a video out on that first I think 👍🏼
Pretty sure that's the original bumper...that's a dealership heavy duty bumper that was likely put on when it arrived at the dealership from the factory...my '69 didn't even have a back bumper on it when it was on the lot, & my dad bought a dealership bumper to go on it for an extra $50 when he bought it...I originally planned to swap it out for a factory bumper because I'm doing a hidden hitch on it, so I don't need the heavy duty bumper, but when I told my dad I was swapping it out, he said, 'You better use my bumper! That cost me an extra $50!' LOL! He was just joking, but I think I've come up with a way to still use it & the hidden hitch too...but it'll be a while before I get to it...
Hopefully soon I can start working on my 66 c10. Bought it last June and drove it around for a while and had to park it for winter and it’s been killing me that I can’t drive it
I have a 1960 c10, I’ve been working on it for about a year now. It’s coming a long. I wish I found these videos sooner. There a really big help!! The drop spindle you got for this truck, what did the run you?
I have a chrome bumper if you are interested. I am using a 67-72 sport bumper on mine. Love how both trucks came out. I learned a lot for when I put mine back together. We are going to the Rod Run in April, so I can bring it for you if you like. It is the original, so it will fit your build. Anyway, just thought I would put that out there. Thanks.
Any suggestions on tackling bed rails that have all those tiny bolt/nut combinations that are rusted beyond belief? Impact is useless because the top round part has nothing to grip onto.
I just found your channel and Your FINE 1963 Looks SO FINE and Sounds INE too. Do You have Magnaflow's on it? I'm building a 1973 Chevy c-60 at the moment. Also, do you really like that wiring kit? I'm looking at the Kwik Wiring system for my project.
I can't remember if it was this truck or the red one, but you swapped out the old "mr gasket" header with Hedman. What PN/model did you use? I think it was a 350 block. I'm looking to shorten up my header so it doesn't sit below the frame rail.
Hey man love your videos. I just recently purchased a 65 c-10 short wheel base stepside truck and was wondering can I change the bed to a fleetside bed. I just think the fleetside beds look a lot better than the stepsides. Any help would be appreciated.
Sweet looking and she's minutes away from take off👍 great job Brother your Pops sure will have fun cruzzzin around with you and your Son and when you and your Brother gets his Chevy 3100 ready it will be a family cruzzz night and weekend. Next your Son needs a 63 C10 or a ?? and all the stars will be lined up for the four of you on a cool June friday night family cruzzz together way cool Brother 👍👍... And she sound's nice are those 44's or 40's for exhaust muffler's I can't remember ? What cam is that ? The GM early type like the LT1 with 450/460 lift & 221/224 duration? or close to that? I like it Brother... It be way cool when I get my 63 C10 all done and head down south and get some pictures of the three 63 C10's together way cool... Can't wait to see the 3100 done (I think that's what your brother has a 58-9 3100 ??) Keep On Trucking Brother...
@@frugalsolutions No he's a busy man and has a full time job in The building trades business besides working on the families 63 C10's and his bro's truck. I'm thinking if I remember correctly it was one of the GM 350 crate engine's I just can't remember what One ?? Start watching Gibbs videos from the beginning it may be mentioned in one of the early videos. It's a fine looking C10 and a sweet sounding SBC engine nothing is finer unless you go Chevy Big Block $$👍😁... Let me know if you find out anything👍... Keep On Trucking Brother 👍...
@@dustinsirrine227 yea the guy is definitely a master at rebuilding the c10s, the bed wood came out nice I thought about buying it ready to stain and bolt in but seeing his video makes me want to try what the did and save big $
@@frugalsolutions; Our Brother Gibb's definitely has a way with wood Matt. I've saved all of Gibb's building videos of his Red Custom 63 C10 and the Blue 63 C10 that started out being Gibb's real Brother then Gibb's built it for there Pop's. Those videos comes in handy when I'm working on my 63 C10 truck with my Son and Grandson. We just replaced the original GM 57 year old gas tank and the cardboard gas tank cover, the gas tank had some very small pinholes that can be fixed but I put a repop in just so I don't have to mess with it when more pinholes show up in a year or less. Next my Son and Grandson will help me finish up the 327 we're still waiting on the GM#491 head's from the machine shop Irwin's Speed Shop here in Michigan. With this C-19 it makes it harder to get things done and sent to me but we're getting her done for the second time around👍 Gibb's videos are full of excellent information for the do-it yourselfer's. It be great to see Gibb's do another 63 C10 truck I miss getting Gibb's videos it was almost like Christmas when I opened up Gibb's videos😁... Stay safe Gibb's you also Matt R have some fun with those sweet Old Chevy 63 C10's... Keep in touch Brother's 👍... Keep On Trucking Brother's 👍...
Lookin Great Mr Gibson!!! I live in Houston,Texas and unfortunately dnt have anyone close to me that can help me with questions on my 1962 Chevy short bed, May I ask questions here on your channel? I started a channel but got camera shy after a few uploads . But I do have a very similar truck to yours it needs...everything, lol
Have you ever had to trim a radiator support bushing in order to get fenders etc to line up? Getting ready to start mine soon and heard one guy saying he had to trim after market bushing(metal sleeve).
I was watching one of your videos where you put a 8 cylinders on a truck that came with 6 cylinders I will like to know where you find the motor mount brackets to do that convertion
hope you can help me, I live in europe in The Netherlands and I've this 1954 chevy with a 1956 line 6 engine the engine is ok but the four speed gear sucks I would like to swap it for an automatic gearbox, can you please tell me what kind I can use to swap it without to much work or which one will fit?
Did you happen to video the turn signal switch replacement? Not much out there on that subject. I am having an issue with my swtich assembly housing from moving.
@@Gibson63. OK, so behind the plastic turn assembly unit... did the Mast jacket have slots where the assembly housing was put in there and just turned to lock it in place?
The plans are almost done on this truck for now, bed wood, tires and wheels, and bolt in seat, and what small things I got left my dad is ready to go to some car shows and cruise ins with me this spring
I was wondering if you could do me a favor? I need to know the distance between frame rails at the very rear of truck. I failed to measure the distance and removed the rear crossmember that I thought was completely rusted through. When I removed it the frame sprung in. The distance between [. ] as measured from the inside would be good if you find the time one day and think of it. I have a 67 C10 short bed. I feel like a damn fool but I got in a hurry and we’ll now you know the story.
Seriously! Who's the dipchit that gave thumbs down on this vid? Get a life and go fix your chit instead of talking bad about other people's projects. Gibbs is not perfect but he is getting this done , 🤘
