You should check out some of Fleetwood Mac's earlier stuff--they were known as a blues group when they first formed. Here's one from their "Mystery to Me" album: "Why" (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XBgG6FtQOCQ.html)
is there any justifiable reason that EVERY rock music fan shouldn't own 'Rumours'?! not a chance... 40 millions copies seems light since I assume that there have been more than that number of rock fans since the album was released... timeless
Yep. Gold dust refers to how valued it tends to be. Ur sunrise tends to go down bc you sleep all day and wake at night. It's very obvious once you know. Lol
Number 8 all time Billboard, last I checked. From documentary. 78’ Tour in support of the album was lit. How Silver Springs was left off of the first press is still a mystery. Glad it made it on the remastered version.
I saw Fleetwood Mac in concert in 1977 when they were at their peak. One of the greatest bands ever!! Check out "Landslide" and "Songbird" which is sung by the late Christine McVie. This band had a tumultuous history with each other but somehow managed to stay together and produced great music for decades. Rumours won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1977. No other band like them in my opinion
This is my quick story about Stevie Nicks: I saw her on tour in Las Vegas at the Aladdin hotel way back in the day. It was her solo tour after the breakup of Fleetwood Mac. There was no opening act, no closing act. Just her, in all of her mystical sorceress hypnotic stage presence. When she reached the end of her set list, before the final encore, she went around and gathered flowers from fans in the front row. Big lavish bouquets of spectacular flowers. While accepting these flowers someone stole her ring right off of her finger. She went back over to the microphone. She then had the lights turned off in the whole venue. The whole place went dark. I mean pitch black. Those of us not in the front row had no idea what was going on. Holy crap. And then Stevie said, “Someone stole my ring. These lights are going to remain off for five minutes and if my ring is not back on the stage at the end of the five minutes the concert is over.” I don’t think anybody left the room. The Aladdin Hotel Theater got eerily quiet. Five minutes later the stage lights came back on, she walked over to the edge of the stage and picked up her ring which somehow reappeared during the blackout, she put it on her finger and continued with two more encores. What a class act she is!!!
The live version of "Silver Springs" off The Dance concert dvd is a must listen for even the casual Fleetwood Mac fan. An excellent version of Gold Dust Woman on there as well.
Be sure and hit some of Christine McVie's hit songs where she sang the lead, some day. But you have to see them do The Chain LIVE. The best one is on the channel Lindsey Buckingham's Gems (for the guitar work live). There are two live shows- - pick the one where he is wearing a straw hat in the thimbnail. They are young, and havent played it a thousand times yet, and it is INTENSE. Stevie's vocals are *WAY* better than the studio version you heard. It's done differently. Some break-up energy, too. Lindsey is physically high energy. I would guess that was him singing the spooky vocal cries during the end of the song you just reacted to, Gold Dust Woman.
"SILVER SPRINGS..an amazing song that was supposed to be on the Rumors Album but they cut it. Stevie Nicks wrote it about Lindsey Buckingham and performed it 20 years later with the band..at the concert " The Dance"!! It is an incredible performance from Stevie and she is literally screaming the lyrics while looking right at Lindsey!!
Went and saw them 10/12yrs ago with my daughter and Christine (RIP) was still alive and they still had it. So much talent in this band that 3 lead singers can bring! Great pick 8 ).
The singer and guitarist were a couple that was braking up and fighting constantly during the recording. The bass player and piano player were married and going through a divorce as well. They were all writing songs that were attacking each other. The result for one of the best albums of all time.
Thank you. They ought to do Hypnotized, some day, with Bob Welch singing lead vocals. He gets ignored by reaction channels... which in fairness channels just dont know what their audience doesn't tell them. There are some great videos of him in concert, and some people like Christine McVie joined him on stage.
Silver springs is one her most haunting songs about Lindsey. It is freaking beautiful! Hope maybe someday you can react to it. Oh, but you have to do the live version! Brilliant! Love y’all 😅
Guess who she's talking about here? Yep, she's singing about herself and her cocaine addiction. fact, and speaking to Lindsey Buckingham and the sad ending to their relationship. Dig your grave with a silver spoon. Coke addiction destroys everything in your life. Relationships, bank accounts, houses, name it.
+1 to those who have already commented. "Rumors" is a stone solid classic record, not a bad track on it. Lindsay and Stevie writing and singing their breakup, everyone else in the band having relationship problems, all that emotion fueling the sessions. Add that Mick Fleetwood and John McVie are a top notch rhythm section who are virtually telepathic they've played togetherr so long. It's a marvelous record, and songs from this album were all over the radio for years.
Fleetwood Mac was 3 very different distinct bands. First formed with Peter Green… a great band.. listen to Albatross or Rattlesnake Shake,,, The Green Mandolini and Oh Well.. When that split up Bob Welch came in and took them in a different direction… When the second version broke up Mick Fleetwood found Lindsey Buckingham and his girlfriend Stevie Nicks and 3rd time was a charm… Fleetwood Mac became a top record selling act…
Best 'break up' album ever recorded. All the couples were splitting up During the time of this record. Stevie said how hard it was to preform 'together' while feeling so angry at each other. Sure SOUNDS good, tho. And even years later they remain friends. Guess PASSION - good or bad-🎭 translates into great music.
Stevie Nicks wrote some great music to be sure. But what about Danny Kirwan, Bob Welch, Lindsey Buckingham, Peter Green and Christine McVee. All you youngsters seem to go for Stevie and ignore everyone else. The band had a lot of great music not written by Stevie Nicks. Listen to some of it sometime.
Lyrically, it's a sad and intense song about breaking up... Stevie Nicks was splitting up w/ Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and her sentiments captured her heartbreak & disappointment perfectly... For his part, Lindsey said that when he listens to 'Gold dust woman', all he can hear are the drugs... The extended outro of the song was the sound of he and the band trippin' on drugs... Even Stevie was improvising her vocals at the end and high as a kite.
When the Rumors Album came out every one of my friends had it.Lindsey Buckingham his Guitar playing is incredible we saw them twice and had great seats because back when we had to buy our tickets we had to camp outside all night we were most times first or in the top10in line. Rain or Snow each one taking turns in line. There were times that we had a keg party in the parking man the good old days. Keep reviewing music it is fun to see the same reaction we had when they came out.✌
Great song, actually my favorite all time from them! Fantastic lyrics, I hope y’all had them pulled up on another screen while reacting as some of the lyrics are difficult to understand, especially those at the end of the song.
The Rumors LP was released Feb 4th of 77. My junior/senior yr of HS. Our generation was blessed with outstanding music. Rumors has sold 40 million copies worldwide. Loved your reaction, gentlemen ☝️.
I remember when my daughter was maybe 10 years old we were listening to Rumors and she said, “this is a really good ‘Greatest Hits’ album.” She still brings up how amazed she was at the fact that it wasn’t when she hears Rumors.
Fleetwood Mac rumors is a real gem. When that album came out that's all you heard. All the songs are great on it. No other band had such a distinctive sound like Fleetwood Mac did. Stevie Nicks had such a sexy, yet haunting voice.
I think this is the unsung hero off this album. It’s always been my favourite. It’s the only one with a little darkness to it and I love it for that. Plus Stevie’s vocals of course. The play out at the end is so great.
IMO, this song is peak Fleetwood Mac. Great lyrics sung with passion, band playing with they unique balance of harmony and dissonance, and the criminally underrated Buckingham on the guitar. There are plenty of thier songs as good, but this one was near perfect
Stevies 1980 solo break away concert was amazing to see. It was the final show of the tour, Her father introduced her. It was a cable Special (HBO, SHOWTIME, CINEMAX?). Goose bumps show. Waddy Wacthel Guitar, Russ Kunkle on Drums.
I said before..... Check out the documentary "SOUND CITY". This Fleetwood Mac album as sooooo many other ICONIC 70's album were recorded at that studio.... the studio eventually shut down but DAVE GHROL of the Foo Fighters bought the ANALOG mixing board for the studio that he built, "STUDIO 606". It's a 2013 documentary.... As Muscle Shoals was to the 60's and 70's in the south..... Sound City was LA in the 70's and 80',s
Great reaction. Rumors was a huge album... Saw them for the "tusk" tour. Mick Fleetwood a master drummer, and Lindsay Buckingham as great a guitarist as any of them... Watch the documentary on RU-vid, "Sound City"
