She was no second rate singer in Fleetwood Mac, Stevie, Lindsey and her all had their own styles. Songs of hers like You Make Lovin’ Fun, Don’t Stop, Oh Daddy, Songbird and this song should never be forgotten.
I was a kid in the seventies when Fleetwood Mac ruled pop radio. Christine McVie was their voice in my head for the longest time. "Over My Head" and "Say You Love Me" still sound great all these years later. RIP.
As we continue to lose our great musicians, I become more grateful that I was able to see many in concert over the years. These last few years have been pretty tough, though. R.I.P. Christine “Songbird” McVie
I was watching a live version of Tusk just last night, wondering what Christine would be playing because there isn't a lot of keyboards in it. Well there she was with an accordion, it convinced me there wasn't much she couldn't play. Classy lady and a true talent, my world isn't as bright as it was yesterday. Thank you for the memories Christine, you'll live forever in my mind.
I was lucky enough to see FM in concert many times. They always closed with "Songbird" Christine Perfect (maiden name) was indeed the perfect Singer to close their shows. Every song from "The Dance" is a must!
You can see the love in the eyes between Stevie and Lindsey,..but look at the love in the eyes looking to Lindsey and Christine..on certain songs..just as deep. And don't forget John Mcvie, the husband and bass player for Mac....what a dynamic..Fly high Christine..Fly high!
So true... Listen to the guitar tracks Lindsey laid down for this song. The harmonics, every note compliments Christine's singing. He wanted this song to sound great for her.
Christine's voice, backing vocal and how the song just "rolls" forward....is so addicting!! Have loved it for years...well, since I was about 16 and I am 60 now:))) Get it done son!!! Great job Jamel
Can you imagine her raving in London in 1968 with Bluesbreakers John and Mick ... then raising dogs at her castle in the English countryside when her band was #1 in the world? What a life, and what a beautiful, gifted person. RIP, songbird.
Warm Ways is such a hidden gem, thanks for reminding me tonight. I have always been afraid that we would lose one of the 5 someday, just never thought she would be first.
@@cherylreichardt I know, right? How about Brown Eyes? I'm listening all night, so sad that the 5 will never be together again, I was holding out hope...We will always have them together in our hearts though.
@@cherylreichardt So true, I was so hoping for that too. I was also so lucky to have them in my high school years, Rumours came out in my junior year, the summer of '77 EVERYONE had it playing in their cars, full blast and, it never got old! Very sad day but, nice to meet a kindred soul, enjoy the memories!
She was such a recognizable and soothing voice I grew up with, from not only so many Fleetwood Mac hits ("Don't Stop", "Little Lies", "Hold Me", "You Make Loving Fun", "Say You Love Me", "Over My Head", and many more) but also her solo hit "Got A Hold On Me" and backing vocals on Bob Welch's hit "Sentimental Lady".
Appreciate the tribute to Christine. For what it's worth, I was a fan for many years before Buckingham and Nicks joined. One of my favorite Christine songs is from the album "Mystery To Me". The song is simply called "WHY".
Very surprised to hear that she passed, she was in the band before Stevie, but unfortunately was overshadowed by her she had a great voice with a jazz style to it along with her keyboard playing, she will be missed RIP.
Christine never wanted to be the front person. She just wanted to be an equal part of the band. And Stevie, however popular she became, would not have been in Fleetwood Mac without Christine's approval.
Saw them 3 times live. She was the coolest, least flashy & her voice was stellar live. Sometimes your excitement gets burst when you hear how different they sound. She was vocally perfect. RIP.
Thank you for giving Christine kudos. She has a stunning voice. "Song Bird" is beautiful too. Also, I really, really like "Oh Daddy" - I am pretty sure she wrote that one about Mick Fleetwood.
RIP Christine! You Make Loving Fun and Say You Love Me are my 2 favorite Fleetwood songs...my parents were refugees from Memphis who were Soul and RB fans, I remember still being 5 years old in the 70s hearing this group from England singing about Say you Love Me and Making Love Fun and Going Your Own Way, 40 years later those songs are still played at work.
Thank you for uploading and it did not get blocked! You're right about the bass, all the players are great in Fleetwood Mac! Yes, the wonderful Christine was an equal part in this great band and she actually wrote a few more hits than the others, I think we're all heartbroken tonight. RIP Christine.
This is one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs. Such a smooth, cool, bluesy song. "Say You Love Me", "Warm Ways", "Songbird", "Don't Stop" - all so very good.
First time I heard Christine Perfect sing was in around 1969 with Chcken Shack, singing, "I'd Rather Go Blind". I know that other people have sung that song before Christine, and after , but hers is the version I have always loved.
Jamal, u r such a good soul, every time some musicians or person of celebrity passes on u take the time to honor those people. You never fail. I think I can speak for most who follow your channel in saying that this is what separates you from many others. Keep up the great work and God bless you sir for all u do and all u stand for. Rip CM
Thanks Jamal for putting this up. Always loved this very cool Brit beauty. Her voice, songwriting and performing talents were integral to the success of this “Mac” lineup. Condolences to her family, friends and fans. She is missed. Sad news indeed.
What a talent. Will miss your wonderful, unique voice and the poise you brought to the stage. A lady by any definition. Can't replace you. We love you Christine. R.I.P.
Thank you Jamal! IRIP Christine! Her voice is so soothing. The three of them harmonized so well together. Some hidden gems Say You Love Me, brown eyes, think about me. Much ❤ from Texas.
She was really a great one. One of the best female blues singers ever in her early career. "Come a Little Bit Closer" probably my favorite Christine song.
Love that woman, love Fleetwood Mac. How many singles? 25? What an elegant rock n roll legend. That's part of the fun with Fleetwood Mac. 3 lead singers who write their own songs, each taking the band in a different direction with their songs. Great band, legendary. I first noticed Fleetwood Mac in 1975 with the release of the White album and they charted with song after song for two years. I was 11. Rumours was junior high, Mirage senior year in high school. RIP Christine, and thank you for all the great music you left us. You know a bit of class just got added to the great music of the hereafter.
Back when Fleetwood Mac was just beginning to roll out the hits, Christine's voice was so ... rich, soothing, warm. Kind of like sipping on a Tom and Jerry in front of a chalet fireplace.
Fleetwood Mac were huge when I was a kid in the 70s. I've always loved Christine and her voice. Fantastic, gifted artist and singer. Love the reaction. Peace!
It is so hard to believe that Christine Mcvie is gone she was such a talent and a great person. I grew up with this amazing group and loved their music. RIP Christine.
One of my favorites. I had the privilege of falling in love the summer of '77. Fleetwood Mac Rumors was blasting out if the radio every day. Flying down the road in a convertible with this beautiful music.
Jamel, she also sang lead on their hits, "You Make Loving Fun", Say You Love Me" and a couple of others I can't think of right now. But those two were very big read hits! Oh and she and Buckingham sing double leads on "World Turning" and "Hold Me"
Thank you for honoring her. What a beautiful voice. The Songbird... Felt good to share it with you again brother. Much respect to you and best to you and yours for the holidays. Much love...
“ Now I got to listen to all the others songs again”. You get it Jamel!! Love your spirit and heart. The world needs more like you. Keep spreading your pure goodness. It’s your purpose here.
The Dance was a reunion/concert they did and top tier. The best They were obviously older and MANY years had gone by. To the point that this concert almost didn’t happen. They pulled it together and sounded and looked better than ever! You can just feel and see the types of emotions, etc.throughout this entire concert. Especially during certain songs..From what I read many years back, there was still some “raw feelings” that almost caused them to not do this concert..But they did it and boom! Perfection!✨ Jamel, Oh how I wish we could find a way for you to react to the entire The Dance concert. IF not, you really need to sit and watch it beginning to end yourself . Stevie and those eyes towards Lindsay..whooo wheeee..There was a lot of “talking” to one another during their singing their catalog of songs. And Stevie doing “Silver Springs” is beautiful! 💝 Also, love Christine’s solo song “Hold on me.” R.I.P. Christine McVie ❤️🙌🏻❤️
Thank you for putting this up...and for remembering her. She was a talented lady indeed. ..she will be remembered through the music...she will live on in memory.
The whole performance from the 1976 Midnight Special is a must check out . I also re-found an old nugget from Christine .Only Over You ...Oh my God ! what a beautiful song ! That was a gift. Thank you Christine !
Christine was absolutely fantastic! This song was very, very smooth and always sounded great coming on the radio back in the day. You can tell that it is not over rehearsed, but retains some initial spontaneity. What artists do! ❤️ Thanks for sharing this one.
You are so respectful, especially to the legends of music when they pass on. This is a great tribute to her! Continue with your positivity! You're the only RU-vid reactor that I watch because of how you are as a good human!
Always love your commentary man. Christine was so incredible with singing and song writing. What a legend. We'll keep her songs with us for many decades.
I saw FleetWood Mac back in the day; it was the Rumors tour, Fort Worth Texas. Kenny Logging was the opening act, so the evening was full of beautiful music. It was magical. Christine MacVie had a pure velvet tone and it was wonderful.
Beautiful song, thanks for all the great music you play, I'm turning 70 in 2 days which is unbelievable because wasn't I just in my very early 20's in the 1970'...
RIP Songbird....thank you for helping Fleetwood Mac become one of the greatest bands ever !!! She also sang and wrote Warm Ways and Say You Love Me...two more excellent songs
Jamel.. thank you my man.. “Oh Daddy”, “Don’t Stop”, “Hold on to Me”.. great songs by this talented lady.. In my mind she’s still in her 30s.. I can’t believe she is gone.
Thank you Jamal - can't agree more, her voice was so warm and smooth - just incredible. I can't think of anyone else in R&R that sounds like her - totally unique, and what a perfect compliment to Stevie she always was. RIP Ms Songbird, we loved you.
You did it..I love this song..as a child my Godfather would only listen to lite FM radio in his car so as a black kid I'd be introduced to Fleetwood mac or Crosby Stills & Nash and other groups like this, it was so relaxing and calm especially when going to school. I wish this generation had those experiences.. I love this song
Oh Christine😢 I hadn't been able to listen to anything of her songs until now. Been crying all morning since my hubby gave me the news. She was my favourite. Will be sadly sadly missed 😢🌹🌹🌹
I always thought Christine was the Backbone of the Band but a powerhouse in her own right. Thank you for being the soundtrack of my life. Keep doing your thing Jamel !!!!
