Flew 7000 Miles To Meet Grandparents For FIRST TIME! *SURPRISE* 

When I did this to my parents I called them on the phone to tell them I'd missed the flight while standing right outside the front door. After a minute or so I rang the bell. My dad said "hang on someones at the door let me answer it."

Very anti climatic. Just the calm English I expect. I surprised my family. Came back from Germany unexpectedly to USA, first time away from family. There was screaming, and running and Mom thinking girls hair dryer exploded. Etc. Later when dad came home from work, laid in front on tv among siblings. When he noticed me, he almost had a heart attack. Couldn’t talk, breath etc, put us all in a panic. Now THAT was a surprise.😂🎉

Back in 1986, my 3 month old son and I flew from Missouri to Virginia to visit my parents. He was their first grandchild, and I’ll never forget their reaction. They knew we were coming, so they met us at the gate. Basically, my mom ran to meet me, grabbed my son, and she & my dad walked out of the airport with him, leaving me behind to get the luggage & find them! LOL! I loved seeing how much they loved my son and how over the moon they were over finally having a grandchild! We had spent 6 long years enduring fertility treatments, a miscarriage, and major surgery, only to be told we’d probably never be able to have a baby, but God had other ideas! If you are going through anything similar, never give up hope.

Landing is the worst for ear pressure. I wanted to scream! Felt like a knife was in my ears. So the times I fly and I hear babies cry I want to cry for them. I now have to use the airplane ear plugs that will ease the pressure on the ears.

I thought it was awkward at the end, no hugs no kisses for the son and the daughter inlaw. I guess people show love in different way. 💕

My son and his wife flew from Austin, TX to Mumbai with their 6 months daughter in 2018. I tried to tell them that such a long journey may not be good for the baby. The baby proved me wrong. She not only travelled safely to Mumbai and then on to Pune but also flew to Jammu and attended Kashmiri wedding of her mother's cousin before returning to Austin. The young couple is very excited to be visiting parents with their baby. May they all be happy and joyous at all times.

When you said that your sister might cry, I said "YEAH she might". Thinking of how I cried when I held my newest niece for the first time in May, and she was only six weeks old at that point (born on Easter). Even those six weeks felt wayy too long, so I can't imagine having to wait six months! I'm the kind of aunt who is crazy about and with those kiddos 😍 so I want to meet them right away! My brother lives only one country away so it wasn't such a long journey fortunately, but even being so close to them we could not go because at that point crossing the border was not allowed for non essential travel. And nomatter how essential I feel it is to cuddle my baby niece and admire her little tiny toes and hands and everything in person, I highly doubt the police would've thought the same 😅🙈 So I had to gather up all my patience! In the mean time I finished crocheting more presents and anticipate the joy of getting to give them once I finally was there. It is so sad how this whole situation can separate you from the people you love for long periods of time (at least by modern standards ofcourse), because we need each other so much, even more so in times of stress and uncertainty! I am glad you get to spend at least several months with your family! Your baby girl is adorable by the way 😊

Correct me if I'm wrong but I did'nt see the parents of the guy hug both the lady and their son when they arrived like nothing happened.Is it just not part of their culture?I find it odd and sad.

My son did this for me, he lives in South Korea and said he was going on holiday to Hongkong, but he came to England with his very pregnant wife.

Sorry as beautiful as story is I found it odd that nobody hugged anyone after the family walked in for the surprise..they haven't seen each other for while and you think this would be a natural reaction. The baby was the only one getting cuddles from grandma. What a cold family, they almost all looked uncomfortable..
