Take out the rubber matt at the bottom of the regular batteries and remove the black gel it melts and leaks all over you can use alcohol to clean them up make sure you use a thin small plastic ply to get into the crack if need to
Personally i do believe both tool and batteries are better than milwaukee. My collection of defective m18 batteries include 3x 12ah, 4x 6ah, 1x 8ah and a small bucket of m12 6ah batteries. That represents $1350 worth of investment lost on m18 batteries alone and is not counting the m12 values. I have yet to encounter a single loss on m18 5ah or 3ah batteries. The m12 5ah ho batteries are all flawless. Moral of the story is....if your going to invest alot in milwaukee batteries save the doggone receipts!!! Especially if you buy them from home depot. Some of their batteries can be as old as 2 years by the mfg date in the serial number. I have purchased most of what Flex makes. I intend to sell off most of my milwaukee tools soon. I refuse to buy the new forge m18 batteries. Milwaukee does not deserve my business. Fool me once...shame on them. Fool me twice...shame on me. And I'm not allowing that to happen.
I had my Milwaukee M18 battery 12ah and 8ah not charge all the when fully charged, Milwaukee told me they recognize this issue but what amazed me is no recall even though they knew there was an issue. I definitely had two battery issues with FLEX 2.5 amp hour battery leaking. One at the counter at Lowes and the other this past summer, Lowes and FLEX fixed it respectful. DeWalt is definitely King knowing their tools have a defect and still sell. Think DeWalt triggers, chucks and as of this writing the cordless 12" Miter saw issue. So here is the difference between FLEX and the other, as of this writing FLEX has pulled the 5 amp hour starter kit off the shelves at Lowes because that's the batch of 5ah batteries with the real issue, if you don't believe me check for yourself. All the 2.5ah batteries are fix and all related issues are covered under warranty, problem fixed. Milwaukee is sneaky, DeWalt will fight to the end not to warranty. DeWalt will even say "so it is not a DeWalt blade you broke the warranty" craziness, ask me how I know.
When I decided to go with FLEX I decided to do things much differently. Instead of wasting time because I forgot the correct size battery or forgot the charger or battery on a different job site which never ever happened with my Mafell tools. The Systainers had everything per tool from the manufacturer so it was grab and go. I followed the Mafell order with FLEX. Rear handle had a variety of blades, charger, batteries grab and go. Likewise Jigsaw, hammer drill, all tools were kitted for grab and go. The days when it was all sawzall, I had to make a Lowes run for blades or having to wait for the next battery to change are a thing of the past. Needless to say it was a pretty expensive endeavor however the time saved is nothing in comparison which means I have 89 pieces of FLEX tools including Stack Pack. FLEX had won me over with their quality of tools and customer service. They remind of Hilti, FLEX is innovative, smart, and follow their Germany roots. I just bought the Milwaukee 1/2" router but I am afraid to buy Milwaukee forge battery why, it two new tools not tested in the field. If It wasn't for a super deal. I was that close to picking up the Metabo HPT 1/2" router. With FLEX I am not afraid to purchase a new tool on the market. As a matter of fact I have two kits for 3 years waiting on the 10" table and 12" miter saw.
I bought a 2nd 5ah battery that had the black goo leaking from the battery. Its dialectic grease. Lowes exchanged it for another battery. Ive been very impressed with Flex batteries so far. They have all worked well. I cannot say the same for my m18 batteries. I have a stack of m18 batteries that i didnt save the home depot receipts for that ive owned for 2 years and milwaukee says are 4+ years old by the serial numbers. Those home depot "special buy" deals are not really all that special at all....
@@unclefester4626I had Milwaukee service Manager recite to me Home Depot selling batteries and tools past the 3 year time line. All my FLEX tools I registered before taking to any job sites. I don't know if you notice but it seems the 3.5 & 10 Stack lithium ion batteries come fully charged. What's that about?
they are not electrolyte it is the gel supposed to cool them down it melts away you can just clean them up at the bottom after you remove the rubber matt
