I personally really love both Flex tanks, especially the 15 gallon...I have the 15 gallon which houses my Endlers...I like it OK. Grows my Crypts really well but yeah, trying to grow anything beyond low light plants is going to require more lighting for sure. What I love most about your videos is your sharing of your observations over time, I love that sort of reflection...so thank you Sean...I enjoy getting your videos a lot. I would love the Flex 32 gallon but my house is only 250 square feet...I would have to get rid of my drum set...not happening!

This one is a little shallow for deep deep substrate but you can still make a great tank that way. I picked one that was a bit taller so I’d have more room. I’ve had some success with the natural method. Even when they are doing well it’s less ornamental and more everything everywhere all at once. Totally nature on auto pilot. But it’s all about what you want to see in there. And it can be really nice.

Thanks to you, I bought a MegaFlex to add to my Flex 9 and school of Specs, but I can't set it up just yet, as we are turning the old dining room into a FISH ROOM! Great problem to have, also means I've got more time to plan and learn from people like you. I've got most of the stuff for it (substrate, wood, rocks, maybe some of the plants, some of the fish), but am still debating whether it'll be for my two fantail goldfish or for the betta sorority I'm planning (have the tetras & corydoras for it already in other tanks). I've got to find someplace to get the second light bar for it though, not as easy to track down in Canada...

Have to admit when you first scaped the mega flex I thought you could have done so much more. But now it's all grown out it looks brilliant! I ended up buying a mega flex off the back of your video and absolutely love it. What do you think to the pump flow? Strong enough for you? If i knew a perfect 1000lph pump that would fit perfectly in the back chamber I'd be tempted to upgrade. I'm only using the one light plants seem to do fine but fluval customer services recommended never going over 75% in white red blue green. Said it will cause an algae bloom?! Anyway keep up the amazing work! Look forward to future updates

I have 20 or 30 type botanicals I add to most of my tanks all purchased from Tannin Aguatics. You cannot go wrong with the Flex no matter the size but larger is always better. What substrate are you using. Looks like fluvsl stratum or maybe that black slag some are raving about from Tractor Supply. I love adding amano shrimp to my tanks. Quality video as always. Final question. When u combine dwarf neocardina shrimp in a general fish community and assuming R/O water, what chemicals? I am thinking Equilibrium but then a ph buffer to add some Kh etc. Please advise.

I gotta say the flex line are awesome. Traditional rectangular tanks seem boring after having a flex. I myself have the 15 gallon after graduating from the 9. For the space that I live being so small, I enjoy the 15. To my amazement it has been successful. I've had a few tanks and my flex has been the best. The filtration and design for a beginner works beautifully. I wish I could trust the weight of the mega flex. I live on a second floor apartment and I worry with my 15 that the weight will buckle the supports in the floor. I keep a camera on when I am not home because I am so paranoid it will go through the floor. Hoping some day to upgrade to the mega, but for now I strongly suggest anyone interested in the hobby to grab the 15 gallon if you can. You can have a good amount of fish and space, and if you educated yourself you can have a rewarding setup. I've had mine for about 2 months now and no noise no issues only good things. 👍

I have two buces in my 10-gallon shrimp tank that have done *quite* well, just attached to pieces of driftwood in the water column. I don't know if it's a difference in the quality of the stock, but what's working for the buces in that tank is making sure there are plenty of micronutrients, feeding diverse foods for the shrimp (means diverse poops), and moderate to high light. In a few months of having them, the buces have nearly doubled in size. I don't run CO2 or regularly dose any macronutrients (if I see signs of deficiency I'll dose to address that).

How has the tank held up? I am about to set up my white mega Flex. I have a few questions I really would love for you to answer for me please. 1. Is the OEM filter pump adequate for circulation and not have dead spots? 2. How's the cleaning like? I've read people gripes about the chambers being a pain to clean. I am going to be using the inTank media baskets in replacement of OEM. 3. Any significant algae issues due to the bow front and focused light in the front area of the tank? 4. Any issues with substrate getting into the lower vents? 5. Any misc. information you can share is welcome. THANK YOU! LOVE YOUR CHANNEL.
@pecktec
@pecktec 2 года назад
Hey these may be short answers but I do have updates I think you will dig more. My latest video shows it as of this week and my playlist for updates and the Flexes show you over a long period how it did. 1 it’s fine 2 I just clean the glass and do water changes. Every couple of months I take one of the sponges and squeeze it in old tank water from a water change. I mark it and do the other one the next round. You don’t need to do much else. 3 use old credit cards and soft things to clean the glass.
@pecktec
@pecktec 2 года назад
4 that’s not an issue if you use looser substrate. Or Put larger gravel there and it will allow water to flow. 5 check out the updates. 6 good luck.

I think most new tank algae is from having too much ammonia. I always go too fast and get it. I’ve set up the last few slowly and haven’t had any. I let it age with just a tiny bit of flake food to provide some ammonia, but I let it go with just a couple of small plants and give it time. Then I add used water for a few days and add one fish, then after a week or so it gets cloudy and cycles then I add slowly with snails and a fish at a time till I have it stable and then I add more plants and fish. My latest 30gal has never had algae except for under the light on the glass lid after about 10 months. I think patience it the trick.
