What a great little game this is, I only discovered it a few yrs ago on the Mega Drive and reviewed it, such a cute fun game to play, excellent video mate👍🏻
It wasn't my generation, born 2003, but I used my dad's old system and this game was my childhood! Still love hearing the music and seeing the levels played
22:34 I remember as a kid when I see that thing coming out of the window and spit fieballs to me, that scared the hell out of me xD I had never seen that enemy before because the version I played first was the Genesis version, I thought I knew the game until that thing appeared LOL xD
Originally marketed in U.S. arcades through Midway Games after it bought out Sega from Gulf+Western; this title was developed by Sega in response to the success of NAMCO's Mappy, which was also marketed by Midway Games for the U.S.
Honestly wish SEGA would actually port this version properly more and not just the Mega drive edition. That and several other games (Altered Beast, Golden Axe etc)
They had a chance to do it on Sega Ages service, but weirdly they didn't do it. Either Sega can do a recent Arcade compilation to include Flicky or they can collaborate with HAMSTER to port their Arcade games to Arcade Archives like what Nintendo, Namco, and Konami etc do.
I remember playing this game in msx and the cats were very smart and stubborn.. I was playing and playing until rd 45 but the cat after I kill it suddenly, it jumped on me near the door 😹💔I discovered that the game had no end..
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. A cat lover. I HATE birds!! I HATE mice!! That's why I hate this game, especially since it acknowledges harming KITTENS.
Because I'm Japanese-American, I LOVE cats!! If this game were a Mama Cat, and she picked up her kittens, and threw flower pots at DOGS and ELEPHANTS, then I'd LOVE the game! I HATE DOGS!! I HATE Caucasian dog owners, too!!
@@jamesnelson5618 Hi James! I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Since 2012, Vancouver BC has been my favorite place to visit. I didn't actually play those games. I was (maybe, this speaks volumes about me) into games like Punch Out, Yier Kung Fu, Mat Mania, at the arcades. In fact, Flicky was right next to Punch Out, at the arcade on Broadway in Seattle, that I used to go to. Sorry that I got so nasty with my comments on this video, but the thought of harming cats, especially nice-looking innocent cats, makes my blood boil. Same as on the video game Mappy, where Mappy knocks down kittens named Meowky. I am just SO pro-cat. Oh, I don't have any ill will against dogs: I just hate dog barks, dog slobber, dog poop, and poop bags. But, no wishes for dogs to get harmed (in real life).
This game makes me want to volunteer at a LEGAL chicken farm and duck farm, that produces chickens and ducks for FOOD. When I LEGALLY slaughter chickens and ducks for FOOD (LEGALLY), I would think of it, as me getting revenge on Piopio!! I HATE birds!!!!
@@lilnoggin7601 Hi Lil Noggin. As a Japanese-American born in Seattle in 1973, I love cats!! And, from my point of view, it seems like the TWO things that get dumped on the most: Cats, and the Japanese. Cats are ALWAYS the victims in storybooks and cartoons and video games. I wish that I could LEGALLY get revenge against the birds and mice, who defeated cats in cartoons and storybooks and video games (Flicky, Mappy, Mousetrap).
@@unappealingundesirable2826 Yeah, I get it, not all cats are bad. But most cats like to kill other animals for fun. Plus, they are the pet of choice for evil villians. For example, in The Smurfs, Gargamel has a cat named Azriel.
@@lilnoggin7601 Thanks for taking me seriously, Lil Noggin. Now, I am biased, because I love cats so much (and, I'm male, too!). In Mappy, he knocks KITTENS over! Kittens named Meowky. In Flicky, I still remember the instructions on the game" "Avoid Nyannyans (kittens)." So, throwing flower pots at KITTENS? I can more readily accept it, if these were "adult cats" that get cast as villains, and defeated, but even non-cat people, I cannot understand how they could dislike a KITTEN. Interesting you mention Azreal. In 5th grade, my male cat always got into fights with the male cat next door, and my cat had a piece of his ear damaged. (true, it was by another cat, not another species) That same year, I started watching The Smurfs, and noticed that missing piece of Azreal's ear. Then in 12th grade, Furball on Tiny Toons has a bandage on his tail, and a piano falls on top of him. On my kid songs record, a song called "Little Robin Redbreast" is another song about a cat getting defeated by a bird or mouse. In Tom and Jerry, one episode, Jerry and another mouse simultaneously pounded on Tom's paw and harmed him. Oh!! Episode Cousin Muscles in Tom and Jerry has a scene that LITERALLY still traumatizes me today: Muscles beat up a bunch of cats, including a cat with its tail detached from its body. Sorry to be so long-winded, but ALL of these examples I give (remember, I'm 50 in 2023), shows that I have dealt with FIVE decades of "anti-cat sentiment." Now, I will NEVER harm a bird, duck, or mouse in the wild. But, if I can LEGALLY behead a duck (at a farm, made for food), or a chicken, or if I can (legally!) throw male chicks into the grinder (because they are useless as egg layers), I wish that I could volunteer at a LEGAL farm, and do so! Another thing about me: I can actually like a mother sow pig! But, I remember in "Hamilton by Robert Newton Peck," on Page 3, there was a picture of Hamilton crying. Based on THAT picture, I want to volunteer at a LEGAL pig farm, and I want to slap and spank one baby piglet. Again, sorry for being so long-winded, but the fact that a 50 year old MALE can write all of this (my trauma about anti-cat sentiments), if nothing else, shows that I'm sincere in my pain.
