My advice to anyone looking to get into the dart world and play more then 1-2 times a week, stay away from aluminum and polycarbonate shafts especially in bars with concrete floors. My setup I currently use on my 19gm Paul Lim soft tips is a #3 Fit Flight carbon shaft with a Rocket flight, and on my steel tip 22gm Paul Lim's I use a #2 Fit Flight Carbon shaft with Rocket flights. The reason I push Fit Flight Carbon shafts is because they come in 4's vs 3's. So you have a spare. I have used everything on that table except Accurates new system. L-Style is nice but I went through alot of flights because of the fact I play 6 days a week. Fit seems to last a bit longer for me. For any casual players that wanna get going etc. I would tell you buy Pentathalon HD150 flights and Pro Grip shafts all day. Cheap and pretty durable flights for foldables. Sorry for the long post.

I always thought that if you buy darts and if the shaft was plastic it was garbage. So I bought them with aluminum. Well here we are learning shit has changed even more than just throwing darts. Tungsten and pop on flights. This is serious as hell. Well I learned how quickly aluminum bend when they hit the ground on a bounce out. Or if the dart hits others. So I’m learning. I’m no champ. But I found this video very informative and helpful. Shopping tomorrow for some darts.

I also purchased the Pear shaped Robson Flight, with shorter shafts to change up my arsenal! Package was in my mailbox just now.

Whats really funny when he started talking about plastic shafts..... I bought my first set of darts yesterday. Spent like 60 bucks and they are 26g and they felt really nice...had them for a day and I literally robinhooded one of the darts so Now i need a replacement hahah they were plastic shafts and it was one of the first problems he mentioned about them.... Point taken LOL

I group my darts very often and practise on a daily basis. I ordered Target 100 micron ( I believe ) standard 6 Std flights. These things are unbreakable. Trew 1 whole evening with 1 set and they were still as new

The aluminum shafts -- if you can't find a way around bounce outs -- aluminum shafts are great for their durability. I throw in my basement with concrete flooring, and after breaking a good number of plastic shafts I switched to aluminum. They will add weight to your darts (a couple grams, at least the ones I got), and so it can take a minute to get used to them, but they hold up extremely well if you're going through a lot of shafts due to bounce outs. Hopefully the newer board (without the massive spider) I'm getting will help solve that issue a little bit and I can go back to throwing lighter darts. That extra 1-3 grams is definitely noticeable though. And, if you're looking to add a couple grams to your darts without changing the barrel, aluminum shafts could be the way to go.

i use aluminum shafts my whole life, they tend to warp and often come loose. I usually use the little baggie that the flights come in and screw the shaft into my dart with the plastic in between. Creates a plastic washer that holds the shaft on better. Good thing is if i robin hood my shaft i can bend it back into place. Currently looking into trying something new after 25+yrs.

Thanks for the review. I moved to the condor flights, as I was constantly robin hooding the stems, even with rings, and it was very frustrating.. I liked the condor but I found I was getting a lot of deflections and bounce out issues. I then went to Harrows Click and I was using the..for a long time.but the flights rip too easy. The tighter my grouping got the more flights I used until I decide to change to Cosmo. I've liked these the most as they do a strong flight that I have yet to replace. The down side is the shaft breaks easily inside the flight too. I kinda go through stages of getting breaks when the darts bounce out. I'm currently in 2 minds over the Cosmo or the L Style. I like to use standard flights and the L style stops the robin hooding.. which is what I want. I bought the carbon stems and I punch my 100 microns flights and so far, after a month or so.. these are doing the job. I get that the thicker flights hd a good shape 90° and that is good.. but they're heavy and boring.. I like colour/ design on my flights and the L Style offers that. You also see more pros using the L Style now, which also makes me think that they're the way forward 🙈🙈🙈 as if there's not enough to choose from with picking the right dart haha. 😆👌

For the record Fit Flight carbon shafts are more expensive but they include a fourth shaft for a spare instead of just 3. I use nothing but those.

My Favorites are the Harrows Clic. 10 Bucks for a set of flights and shafts are a great bang for the buck. Especially if you like spinning shafts.
@bigbroman5927
@bigbroman5927 5 лет назад
I've used the clic system to great effect. The flights are durable and the shafts last forever. The spin and design almost completely eliminates Robin hooding but, if it's not your thing you can lock them out. I do plan to try the Robinson's too. The prices he quotes are store and, American net prices. I buy from UK. sites for 50% and less on most supplies including darts. They have arrived within 5 days. It leaves me more loot for beer. I like darts corner in particular.

I use aluminium because they last longer than plastic. Aluminium stems can bend when they fall on a hard surface but they can be bent back into shape.

red dragon nitro tech hybrid shafts are awesome .best of both worlds. poly shaft with ally top, dont ever come loose. robson flights dont come off,can be used with any stem and no robin hoods. they are also quite durable . if you use tapered points they will help your flights last longer .

The only good thing I find is if you robin hood a aluminium shaft you can just squeeze them back together same if they become a bit lose over time so they last much longer if your ok.

I'm just getting into the game of darts I bought my first set today and I'm looking to get some information on how to use the flight protectors I can't find any like videos or anything can you help me out as a new person to the game of darts any help can would be appreciated thank you
@AtomicDarts
@AtomicDarts 2 года назад
Hey Torrey, sorry for the late reply. Flight protectors are cool, they just co on the back of the folding flights they do help from robin hoods and they kind of help keep the 90 degree angle. But if you watch the pros that use folded flights and a good number are going away from them, they never use flight protectors. Plus a robin hood is so cool... I would recommend checking out the Condor Axe. A-Z darts caries a good number of them.

@AtomicDarts
@AtomicDarts 2 года назад
I will say my favorite manufacturer is Shot Darts. But that is not to say there are not other great ones. Do you have a store near you where you can try out some barrels? If you do great is not it gets a bit trickier. I would say purchase some less expensive once to find a weight you like and somewhat of the grip and style. Then find a more expensive one that is similar. The other really fun part of darts and this is where it can cost 8s collecting or buying barrels and trying them out. There are also many resale pages on Facebook where you can sell yours or buy some and give them a try. Let me welcome you the the wild but fun world of darts. It's funny but each person kind of has to find there way but we are all here to help.

I think the normal foldable flights are looked down on although they can be very good for advanced players too. Im using red dragons cross fire carbon-nylon stems which are quite light and very durable. Im not an exceptional player, only averaging around 50-60 but i do play quite a lot. A good quality 100micron foldable flight from winmau (currently using the prism delta designs which are kinda modern/minimal geometrical designs in one colour)can hold up for weeks easily. Also the flights poppin off issue is easy to avoid if you punch your flights and apply rings similar to how l style flights have holes and caps/champagnerings in. L style is a very good system too but i find that for players who like to experiment and vary their setups, normal nylon/carbon stems and punched flights are a very good option.
